Interaction with Guests
We will personally hand you the keys, usually at the airport when you arrive in San Juan. Otherwise we make arrangements to meet your travel plans.
We're also available day and night by phone and text for anything you need.
Luquillo has eco-travel activities for all ages! Sun bathe at Playa Azul just steps from the apartment, surf at nearby La Pared, eat delicious fritters at the legendary Los Kioskos two minutes away. Want to see the only rain forest in the US Park Service? Hop on a quick 5 minute drive and take a hike through El Yunque's trails and waterfalls. At night, experience the magical bioluminescent bay in Fajardo, just 15 minutes by car from the flat. Adventure awaits!
Luquillo, like the rest of Puerto Rico, is best navigated by car. Most guests rent a car at the San Juan airport and drive to Luquillo, which is a quick 40 minute drive.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at Mari's apartment. It was well decorated, with 3 bedrooms and a nice big kitchen with a full size refrigerator and stove. There is a stacked washer & dryer which came in handy. The unit was a very short walk to the beach.
One of the great aspects of this rental is that Mari provides what you need for the beach i.e. beach chairs, coolers, umbrellas, beach towels and more!
There is a nice big screen TV in the living room with satellite service and the internet service is on local cable company which is pretty slow.
A short drive away is a grocery store, Walgreens and the Kiosks with shops, bars and restaurants. You need a car if you stay here in order to get around
We would definitely stay at Mari's again.
We loved the place. It was clean, quiet and just a minute walk to the lovely beach. We didn't meet Mari but did get to meet Tere at the airport as soon as we landed. She was very helpful and also gave us a map to reach the place. We loved the stay and would surly revisit whenever we come back to PR.
My wife and I spent several days in late January 2015 at Mari's wonderful apartment in Luquillo, Puerto Rico. It was so easy to hop between beach and home—that's how close the sea this place is! Plus, everything you need for the beach she has ready for you. The bedroom we used was nice and cool at night, and the couch and cable came in handy on our nights in. We spent most of our time eating at the Kioskos, which are also super close, as well as The Brass Cactus, which has lots of great homemade food and is just around the corner. The neighborhood was pretty sleepy, as was the beach, which was perfect for us, and at night we fell asleep to the sounds of the birds in the coconut trees and the song of the coquis. Every morning we got up early and took the short, easy drive to El Yunque to do some rain forest hiking. What a vacation!
Although we didn't actually meet Mari or her mother Tere, they kept in touch via e-mail, texts and phone calls and were easily reachable. Be aware that they normally give you the keys at the airport when you arrive in San Juan but we were driving up from Ponce so Tere arranged to have the cleaning lady stay later until 5pm to give us the keys. The apartment is in a quiet neighborhood and about 1 minute walk to a beach (which is more windy and rough than Luquillo beach). However, Playa Luquillo is just a 2 minute drive away and so are the famous food kiosks. Tere recommended La Parilla and we had an amazing meal of fresh lobster there. The apartment was very clean and cosy and had everything we needed, including beach towels, beach chairs and good wi-fi. Mari did a great job decorating! The two first rooms are quite small but perfectly comfortable with the A/C and high quality cotton linens. The last room is larger and has a comfortable queen bed and cool cross-breezes so there was no need to use the A/C. The living room doesn't have A/C but it was fine with just the windows open and the ceiling fan on. There is a washing machine and dryer which was convenient but only a shower and no tub in the renovated bathroom. (Hot water was limited to about 3 showers in a row before running out but hey, it's so warm, its not a big deal). Overall it was a pleasant and comfortable for our family of 5 with 2 small children. The location is also very handy to El Yunque, The Bioluminescent Lagoon and Luquillo beach. I would recommend staying here if you plan on visiting this area. Aromas Coffee and Crepes in the square is yum for breakfast! Thank you Mari and Tere for your hospitality and for sharing your beach home.
The apartment was spacious and comfy, furnished with beach towels, beach chairs, mats to lay out, snorkels, and kitchenware and utensils. The location is amazing, four buildings down the road from the beach. The neighborhood is nice and quiet, and is within walking distance of a great bar & grill, and across highway 3 from a Supermarket, Walgreens, and other shops and restaurants. The Kioskos just west of the place are incredible. Wonderful place.
Mari's Mother met us just outside the airport to hand deliver the keys, which was greatly appreciated!
We were provided with abundant towels, beach essentials, a washer and dryer, kitchenware and the air conditioning in the bedrooms was excellent.
If you take a short walk to the east at the beach you'll find beautiful clean sand and clear blue water. The neighborhood seems to be mostly vacant vacation rentals and safe to walk with a buddy.
The pictures appear to be a bit older as the condo appears to be between paint jobs and this is the first AirBnB that didn't provide any breakfast essentials (Grocery store is two minute drive), but none-the-less the space was adequate and we had an amazing time.
Check out The Brass Cactus Bar and Grill and the kioskos just down the road for a great cocktail and good eats.
Thank you, Mari and Tere!
This was a wonderful place at stay. We had the whole place to ourselves and they provided everything we needed. We met Mari and her mom at the condo and got the keys from the sweet cleaning ladies.
They provided beach and regular towels, a boogie board, cooler, kitchenware, soap, plenty of bedding, BBQ grill, tv (no DVD player), other beach toys etc. It was wonderful. The beach was beautiful and close. Great place for running in the morning.
Super close to Subway, Walgreens and KFC. Walmart and a whole strip mall was only 15 min south. There is a strip of local food shacks just a few minutes from the condo. Awesome food! The Gyro place close by was also delicious. Get the lamb if you go.
If you're planning to see the bio bay, plan ahead. The walking tour is much cheaper ($12?) than the kayak tour ($50-$80) but must be booked far in advance. We missed out because they were full every night we were there. (website hidden)
If you go to El Yunque (a must see!) the park entrance is free but all the info is at the visors center and costs $5 or so to get in. I dropped off my family in the park and went in by myself to the visitors center and it was super helpful! They gave us a map and showed us which trails to see. You can swim La Mina waterfalls if you're up for the cold water. We loved it!
