The Space

Come enjoy the beautiful beaches of Luquillo in this fully furnished, three bedroom, one bath apartment. Located on the second floor of a two-story, four-unit property just steps from the sand, the renovated unit features an open living space and kitchen area. The living area opens to a large private balcony where you can play a game of cards or dominoes, or grill up some seafood in the portable stainless steel grill. Take a break from the sun with wireless internet and a flat-screen Samsung TV, DVD player and satellite. The apartment comfortably sleeps six people, and each bedroom has A/C: a master bedroom with a queen-sized bed, one bedroom with two twin beds (which can be rolled together), and one bedroom with a bunkbed.

In addition to being steps away from the sand, the apartment has a great central location: 3 minute drive to the delicious "kioskos," or fritter joints; 5 minute drive to El Yunque rainforest, 15 minute drive to the natural reserve and historical lighthouse Las Cabezas de San Juan and the bioluminescent bay; 15 minute drive to the Vieques and Culebra ferry. Supermarkets, gas stations, and pharmacies are also less than a mile away, making it easy to stock up on essentials.

  • This apartment was a wonderful home base for our stay in Puerto Rico. It has everything that you could think of--we especially appreciated the fully stocked kitchen, beach towels, and beach chairs. We did not get to meet Mari, but her mother Tere was kind enough to meet us at the airport with the keys and gave us thorough directions as well. This was one of the best AirBNB experiences we've ever had. Thank you!

  • We loved our stay at "Casita Chica". The condo was very comfortable and clean, and is truly just a few steps to the beach. There were plenty of beach towels, and 4 beach chairs, which was great for us. There are a few nice reefs at the beach, but be careful...the current there is fairly strong. When at the beach, if you go left around the point, you'll get to another beach that is very calm and also has lots of food kioskos and great pina coladas! If you don't want to walk that far, you can drive to the parking lot of the beach...only about a minute from the condo. It's $4 to park, but worth it if you're lugging a lot of stuff with you. The condo is very conveniently located. There is a Walgreens and a supermarket just a few minutes away. Just around the corner is a restaurant/bar called the Brass Cactus...good food and drinks. We most certainly will be coming back and staying in Mari's condo again. It was a wonderful "home away from home" for us. Thank you Mari..!

  • We had a wonderful stay in Luquillo! The apartment was perfect; clean, charming, very well equipped, spacious and steps from the beach. We were traveling with our 21 month old daughter and found the apartment very kid friendly. There was even a travel crib, stroller and beach toys!
Mari and her mother were great! They were both very prompt and thorough with responses. They also provided us with detailed directions and lots of recommendations for food and activities.
The beach at Luquillo is lovely for walking and snorkeling, though a bit rough for kids, current wise. The El Balneario (sp?), about five minutes away, is gorgeous and perfect for swimming.
There aren't a ton of restaurants close by the apartment, but we really enjoyed the few we visited. Mari made some great recommendations that did not disappoint.
This place is perfect if you're looking for a comfortable home-base to explore El Yunque, drink coffee and/or wine on the balcony and just relax and enjoy the beauty.

  • Mari's apartment is the perfect place for families exploring Puerto Rico through day trips. We hiked, explored caves, kayaked, visited Culebra by ferry, saw Old San Juan and museums, and found several beautiful beaches. There was a convenient grocery store and of course the kiosks all nearby. As others have mentioned, the apartment had everything one could need during a beach vacation. What an easy and pleasant first Airbnb experience!

  • This place was awesome! Clean, spacious, and an awesome location! Also, friendly neighbors. Our group of 5 had a great time in Luquillo - great surfing, awesome food, and wonderful accommodation. I hope to return!

  • We had a great time staying in Mari's flat. It really is only "steps from the sand" - close enough that one of us was able to take the kids down for a few precious minutes of beach time while the others were cooking dinner, etc. Also close to the Fajardo biobay and El Yunque rainforest. Everything was clean and just as described. We really appreciated having the beach toys, beach chairs, and washer & dryer. The residents of the other apartments were very nice as well.

  • My friends and I had a wonderful stay at Mari's apartment. I was a beautiful space and had all the amenities we wanted. Getting the keys at the airport went off without a hitch. The neighbors downstairs were friendly and helpful and the beach was beautiful. Also a fantastic price!
Thank you Mari & familia for a great trip!

  • Very nice condo, clean with a lot of space. Nice full kitchen, comfortable beds and off street parking. Bedrooms were air conditioned and had very comfortable beds. The condo was very clean and well kept. Having a cooler, beach chairs and beach towels avialable was a wonderful addition. It is two blocks from the beach. The view and water was spectacular, but the beach itself was not as clean. It would have been helpful to have Mari's parents' phone number before we left for PR or when we texted her a few days before arrival as we had phone troubles and did not realize her parents were who we needed to communicate with for access to the apartment. It caused an unfortunate delay for everyone. Her parents were helpful and pleasant, it was just too bad that there was difficulty. The only issue is that the main area is not air conditioned, some windows did not open, there was not a flow through breeze and no ceiling fans, so it is very warm in the living room/kitchen area. Mari had a nice list of places to eat, it was very helpful and we really enjoyed the local fare!

  • We just returned from our 6 day Labor Day weekend retreat in Luquillo and we can't say enough good things about the accommodations. We were met at the airport with keys and directions, which were super helpful. The place was spotless and it was so liberating to be completely self-sufficient in an apartment rather than a hotel. We spent a great amount of time relaxing on the large balcony equipped with outdoor furniture and used the grill to cook dinner frequently.
Luquillo was the perfect location as it is close to everything if you have a rental car. The beach is just at the end of the street, El Yunque is about 5 minutes away, and Fajardo just 15 minutes to take advantage of ferries to Vieques + Culebra, as well as bio bay kayaking tours (highly recommend!!) We also ate at the kioscos several times - the Peruvian Ceviche Hut is incredible!
We were blown away by the kindness of our neighbors and pretty much everyone we came in contact with. We will definitely be back.

  • Mari's apartment is lovely! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Luquillo and the apartment has everything you might need including nice beach towels and chairs to enjoy the gorgeous beach three doors down. Big balcony and open kitchen-living area makes for lots of room for everyone to spread out.
We enjoyed dinner out at El Rincon del Sabor around the corner and of course the kiosks just minutes away. Fajardo was a quick drive to walk the marinas and Luquillo has everything you need nearby. The beach was near deserted - of course Tropical Storm Isaac was passing!
Mari and Tere are a pleasure to deal with and we highly recommend this simple but sufficient apartment at a great rate.
    Thanks Mari!
