Lucerne is a stunning town, 40mins by train from Zurich and situated on a wonderful lake, surrounded by the beautiful central Swiss Alps. It is the perfect base for hiking, biking, running, sailing and skiing in the winter months (50 mins to the resort of Engelberg, Klewenalp, Emmetten and more).
My South American wife and I live in a light and spacious apartment overlooking Lucerne's famous lake, just ten minutes walk to the station. We have a quiet private double bedroom available to rent (at the other end of the apartment to our room) and you are welcome to use the balcony overlooking the lake and the bathroom.
Fast WiFi is free. Fresh bed-linen and towels are included and we have a big flatscreen TV with more then 200 channels from all over the world.
The apartment is in a quiet area, and very close to the major attractions of Lucerne (the Transport Museum, the Natural Museum, the city old walls, the Glacial Garden and the old city with its historical buildings, shops, restaurants and coffee houses). Everything is in easy walking distance.
The apartment is a 3min taxi ride from Lucerne train station (there is a taxi rank at the station) or a 15min walk. Alternatively take the bus (Number 1) and get off at Löwenplatz - the flat is a 5min walk.
There are also some major events throughout the year that thousands of people come to Lucerne to experience. These include:
Fasnacht – Carnival to say goodbye to winter
Honky Tonk Festival – Live music around the city
Fumetto – Bringing comedy to Luzern
Lucerne Festival - classical music festival in the famous KKL
Rose d’Or – Entertainment Festival
Rowing World cup – Interntional sports in beautiful surroundings
Blue Balls Music Festival – with big names, in 2011 they had Lenka, Ben Harper, Macy Gray and Erykah Badu.
Luzern Marathon – Attracting athletes young and old
Luzern Blues Festival – Bringing the blues to Luzern
Street Parade - Zurich event with 1mill visitors

We had a great stay with Thomas! The apartment is very clean and spacious and the location is central. Thomas was a lovely host and provided us with a number of great recommendations.
Thomas' house is lovely with very convenient location, walking distance to most major sites in Lucern central. His recommendations to restaurants and sightseeing are wonderful. I made decision to go to Lucern within one day but thanks to his recommendation, the trip turned out so well. The room is lovely and very comfortable too!
Lucerne was a beautiful town. Totally fell in love with it. Thomas picked us up from the train station and helped us with the luggage. The house was warm and cozy. The view in the house was incredible, too. He also helped us with booking restaurant and shopping guide. Great experience!
Thomas is a very good host. He picked us in the train station with a reasonable price. The location is just steps away from the city center. The room is very clean. Thought there are some rules need to be followed, but they are making sense and clearly explained before I arrived. It's a very good place to stay if you are ok with the rules.
Our stay in Lucerne was amazing! Thomas was extremely kind and helpful. He made us feel very welcome in his apartment. The location was convenient and we could easily walk anywhere we wanted to go. The entire apartment was very clean. He picked us up and drove us back to the train station for a small fee, which was very nice since we probably would have gotten a little lost trying to find his place for the first time. Overall a great experience!
Man sollte halt schon alle Informationen lesen, bevor man bucht ;-).
We are a Swiss and South American couple living in Lucerne. We love to cook, watch films, drink great red wine, walk in the mountains, ski in the winter and enjoy meeting people from all over the world. We hope you will come and visit!
