Set on 2.5 acres right next to the St Paul’s Rock track, this iconic barn offers epic views, direct access to NZ’s best short hikes, and a short walk to Whangaroa Harbour. Renovated in late 2025, the open-plan layout boasts polished concrete floors, a soaring ceiling, warm cedar walls, light-filled mezzanine, queen bed and 2 double sofa beds. Enjoy a full kitchen, lounge, bathroom, and laundry facilities. Outside, relax with alfresco dining, native birdlife, and stargazing in utter tranquility.

The space
This 150m² cedar-shingled barn is the ultimate romantic or small-family getaway, or the ideal base for a big-game fishing adventure in the marlin capital of New Zealand.

The open-plan living space has a beautifully equipped kitchen and dining area that opens straight onto the concrete patio. Perfect for sunset wines while the harbour turns gold below you.

One spacious bathroom has shower and laundry facilities, so you’re completely self-contained.

There’s a double sofa bed on the open plan ground floor and up the stairs you’ll find the huge open plan mezzanine with queen bed and the best views in the house, plus a lounge area with a second double sofa bed.

A trellis-enclosed garden area with a big picnic table provides the perfect, private spot for an evening BBQ as the sun goes down and there are flat lawns and a big paddock to run around in, throw a frisbee, or just lie in the grass.

The local quail family and resident pheasants are always around, along with tui, fantails, and woodpigeons. At night, the call of the morepork is one of the few sounds to break the total silence.

The property gives you direct access to the St Paul’s Rock track for the most incredible views you can imagine – you can be at the summit in 20 minutes. A 15 minute walk downhill gets you to the Whangaroa Sport Fishing Club at the edge of Whangaroa Harbour, where fishing charters depart and record game fish are weighed and measured.

If you get tired of the views and you’ve read your way through the contents of the bookcase, a big screen + Apple TV and Netflix serve up digital entertainment and super-fast internet keeps you connected. There’s plenty of parking space — and even room for a boat.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic long weekend, a base for exploring the Far North, or simply a digital detox surrounded by nature, this barn-style retreat delivers an unforgettable stay.

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire property — Barn, outdoors areas, lawn, and adjacent bush and paddock — with the exception of the garage, a shipping container tucked on the side of the lawn, and a pigeon coop, which are used for storage.
