Pali Hale is your epic oceanfront "home in Hawaii". Pronounced “pah-lee hah-leh”, which in Hawaiian means “Cliff House”, it's the ideal center for your Big Island and Kilauea volcano adventures or just relaxing in paradise with breathtaking 180 degree ocean views and the sight and sounds of crashing waves in front of you. Two large oceanfront master suites, two spacious oceanfront living rooms all to yourself with ocean views from every corner of the house. Did we mention the views?
The space

Watch turtles, dolphins and whales (in season) swimming right in front of you. Pali Hale is a newer construction spacious 2000sqft modern "hawaii ocean front style" home with views from every corner of the house. Three bedrooms and three and a half baths with two separate oceanfront master suites each with their own private bath offer spectacular ocean views and lanai access. Both master bedrooms and the garden bedroom all have brand new "Tempur-pedic" breeze cool gel-style mattresses for your comfort during your stay. A separate oceanfront family room with a futon offers oceanfront views and lanai access with an adjoining full bathroom which is shared by the garden bedroom that has a queen bed and offers garden views and ocean views through the living area. A large kitchen with new modern appliances and a full laundry room provide all the conveniences of home right on your own oceanfront oasis.

You may see and hear whales in front of the house during whale season from November thru May or spot dolphins as they circumnavigate the island, or "honu" green turtles on most any day. We have a rare Nene family who typically fly in and stroll around the yard each day. We have geckos who love to come out and sun and Coqui rainforest tree frogs who love to sing at night providing the perfect tropical backdrop against the sound of crashing waves.
The Volcano
Pali Hale is a popular homebase for Volcano adventuring. Only 26 miles from Volcanos National Park entrance, makes it a convenient drive for the day visit, or "at the drop of hat" when lava viewing conditions are perfect. We provide tips, recommendations and guides on how to best visit the park and volcano whether there is a current eruption happening or not. Our website is also a wealth of up to the minute info on the volcano viewing conditions, with live science data and live cams from the volcano to help you plan your adventures at Kilauea.

There is a base rate for 2 persons and an add'l fee per each add'l guest over 2 - up to 6 guests maximum. Set the # of guests to see the actual rate. Children under 2yrs old are not counted in total # guests. The house is prepared for the # of guests on the booking. The number of guests checking in must not exceed the number of guests on the booking. Contact us if you need add add'l guests to your booking prior to check-in.

Current Viewing Conditions - March 2022:
- Lava at Kilauea Summit Caldera: A new eruption as of October 2021 can be viewed nightly from the Crater Rim in Volcanoes National Park, there are several vantage points around the Crater Rim inside the park where the lava lake and active fissure can be viewed and photographed but the closest and by far best view is from Keanakakoi Overlook .
- Whales: Are in season and currently we are spotting whales daily. Whale season is Nov-May peaking in February.
- Nene's: Our Nene family has split up for now, but individual family members still stop by on most days. Eventually a new family will emerge from one of the individuals. You can usually hear them honking when they fly in on the ocean side of the house. Nene's are the rare/endangered Hawaii state bird. There are also other Nene families in our area that can be spotted around the neighborhood on most days.
- Turtles: Green turtles in the surf in front of the house year round.
- Spinner Dolphins: Are being spotted several times per week.
- Helicopter Tours: Helicopter tours are currently running.
- Volcanoes National Park - is open.

Hotel Taxes: The 17.96% State and County of Hawaii accomodations (13.25%) & general excise taxes (4.71%) are all added your booking rate and cleaning fee.

-Rain poncho - sudden showers can happen anytime, also waterfall spray, and wet caves

-Hiking shoes/boots - for hiking the volcanoes, rainforest hikes, and hiking into some waterfalls, and remote beaches
-Snorkel, Mask, and Fins (you may also use ours but most guests like to at least use their own snorkels)

-Underwater camera
-Binoculars - Whale, Turtle, and Dolphin spotting from the decks. Close up views of Lava/Volcano calderas and ocean entry, Nenes and other birds.
-Layers/Warm outerwear for volcano adventures at night. It gets cold on Kilauea and Mauna Kea after dark, be sure to bring some layers for lava viewing or star gazing at night.
