My boyfriend booked us 3 nights in the shepherds hut as a birthday surprise. I found out the day before what sort of accommodation it was and instantly googled these huts and was really hoping it would be a nice one! Well it totally surpassed my expectations, which were high.
As we approached the little hut was nestled in the field, it was a sunny, breezy August afternoon and the hut looked stunning. Paula had set the scene perfectly, windows and the top barn door were open and the breeze flowed through, carrying the classic fm music from the hut outside. It was pretty magical! I couldn't stop smiling.
The set up outside is ideal, cute little table and chairs and a log burner, the surrounding grass is cut low but the cow parsley is up to knee height and perfectly cocoons the area.
The decor is lovely, the whole hut has been skill-fully made with care and it shows, from the characteristic wood and charming stained glass windows to the painted ceiling- the cherry on top!
For a long weekend you have everything you need, a mini kitchen, hanging space for clothes and a proper shower and loo! Plenty of plug sockets, lights, mirrors, cushions... A real home from home.
The hut looks onto Paula's barn but we still felt very much in our own space, she popped by to say hello and goodbye but leaves you to enjoy the space like it's yours.
We did have a few activities planned and popped into Chichester for dinner, a theatre trip and a seaside stroll but apart from that we were happy cosied up in the hut. Take a book, crossword some wine and snacks, fling open the windows and door and soak it all up.
One tip- do bolt the door when you close it at night, we accidentally pulled the top one to one eve and the wind caught it and gave me a fright when it flung open in middle of the night!
Thank you Paula, a weekend to remember and a beautiful place to spend my birthday. Like the rest of your guests I now "want one".
Faultless from beginning to end. Everything as described and more. The finishing of the shepherds hut was stunning and far above expectation, and all the little finishing touches made it.
We slept so well we've returned night feeling as well rested as if we'd been there a week, not just one night.
Couldn't recommend it more highly. Thank you Paula!
An amazing place, and wonderful hosts! Thank you so much. Hope to return one day. x
From Neil's account of his stay, it was perfect. Thanks for making it special!
We really enjoyed our stay in the Shepherds Hut. It was absolutely beautiful and finished to a high standard. The meadow was filled with daisies and we just couldn't have booked a better place to stay. Paula was very friendly and welcoming and had left little treats for breakfast in the fridge. It is a very special (website hidden)'s nice to get away from everything and stay somewhere so unique.
