Casa Kumbaya is a private, secure, beachfront, open-air home located in one of the most beautiful tropical getaways on the planet. The two-story home is a one-bedroom, fully-equipped get-away with extra beds both down and upstairs
The solar-power home has capacity for modest conventional power draws, no hair dryers please. We have solar refrigeration, a six-burner propane stove, full furnishings, open-air bathroom and shower, and a full second floor private master bedroom.
Our kitchen overlooks manicured lawns groomed with tropical ornamentals, gardens, and fruit trees. We boast a full array of high quality cookware and full sets of plates, utensils, glassware, and silverware. While the kitchen is fully equipped for you to be able to prepare your own gourmet meals while watching the set peal in from the south under an advancing tide beyond the front yard, we will be happy to provide full catering from surf and turf to strict organic vegan cuisine. If you prefer tico fare over gourmet fusion, we can do that as well.
The home has a washing machine and clothes line for drying, but we can also offer laundry services as well as daily or semi-daily housekeeping for those that prefer to be coddled a bit rather than released to their own devices.
The 2.5 acre grounds are extensive and private with a wide array of ornamentals and garden plants. We have a single old growth balsa tree in the front yard, a sentinel to remind us of the forest that stood before this land was first cut for pastureland in the mid seventies, two decades before its present incarnation.
Casa Kumbaya is part of the Osa Boulder community, a gated collection that includes over twenty property owners. The facility has security and maintenance support.
We are a remote destination and our guests are best served by having a rental car. It is helpful to be able to get to town for supplies and also to dash over to Martina's for Friday nights or out to Pan Dulce for surf lessons or over to the Matapalo break for those veteran surfers that come to stay with us. It's also great to be able to head over to Carate for that wholly different scene.
While you can certainly arrive in a taxi and spend your time at Casa Kumbaya and probably be perfectly content, a rental car is a great leveler of the playing field, and the extra investment in securing this for your trip will certainly pay off for you.
We have full wireless Internet for those that prefer to not leave this behind.
The home is fully equipped with linens, towels, and kitchenware and has private parking and extensive orchards. Beyond the home manager--who can provide some guiding and support services--Osa Corcovado Tour and Travel can coordinate tours, transport, rental cars, sport fishing, permits for Corcovado National Park, domestic air ticketing and charter flights, other vacation rentals around the peninsula, and a wide variety of additional services.
At $150 per night for this beachfront and unequaled home, Casa Kumbayá is one of the crown jewels of the local vacation rental market and an absolute must if you are looking for serenity, spiritual convergence, epiphany, or some other catharsis on your travels. We can provide you as much or as little support as you desire, and miles of beach and mountain trails and backcountry options remain at your fingertips. While ours is an alternative destination without screens, television, and other trappings of the world back home, we offer a great value, spectacular nature on the shores of the Golfo Dulce, and privacy for your family's vacation lodging at a great price. We are close enough to town so that it is convenient for business yet far removed from the dust, heat, and rowdy bustle of town so that visitors can take care of town business and retreat to the sumptuous convenience of Casa Kumbayá once business is taken care of to enjoy the delight of the incoming offshore Carbonera breeze.
The place was difficult to find because the town has no addresses. So, I recommend to get GPS coordinates. PJ is not a nice city to see, but if you are travelling from one location to another it is ok to crush there.
The studio has everything you need. It is neat, but not clean at all: strange smells, lots of dust.
No complaints about the host: good communication, tried to help us with advice...
