We felt very comfortable at Iain's charming townhouse with all the interesting books and pictures! I especially loved the oldfashioned designed bathrooms, everything was remarkebly clean. Communication with Iain was easy. Our stay could not have been any better. I would definitely book this nice place again.
Authentic dublin experience. Iain was very responsive throughout the whole process. His assistant met my wife and I at the apartment and went through the basics of the house with us. Another couple was staying with us, they had the first floor sofa bed and we had the 2nd floor master bedroom with en suite bath. The apartment had lots of interesting photos, art work, etc. It was very high tech. My friend was very into and helped us work the stereos and TVS. You could probably spend a month in Iain's apartment reading all the books he had. Very eclectic and interesting. The apartment is in a great location, close enough to city centre but not crowded with tourists. 15 minute walk to Guinness, Jameson is across the bridge, 20-25 minute walk or 8 euro uber to the city center. The apartment is very sunny when the Dublin weather allows it. There is a supermarket called Fresh, which is about a 10 minute walk across the bridge. If you like gastropubs/craft beer, check out L Mulligan Grocer, also across the bridge. We had a very good time at this apartment. The bed was comfortable. His instructions to operate the shower were spot on. The stove took some getting used to but that because we are not used to electric in NYC.
When i think of airbnb, this is the kind of space you imagine, quirky, not cookie cutter. It makes your trip more memorable.
Iain's townhouse is an excellent place to spend time in Dublin. Iain was very responsive and easy to work with throughout booking and visit. The apartment is roomy and comfortable and furnished with everything a family needs for a short or long stay, including many Dublin guides and brochures. The location is outstanding for exploring Dublin on foot or bus. Two of the best pubs in Dublin are within a two minute walk. Highly recommend.
We never met the host, but he did send someone to deliver the key and let us into the townhouse. We just happened to arrive at the same time as the person with the key.
The cleaning person was still in the townhouse when we arrived so we waited on the first floor until she finished about 30 minutes later.
The top floor bathroom didn't have a working light so we were unable to use that bathroom during our stay. I had tried to contact the host about the non-working light but realized my message never sent just prior to leaving after on our three day stay. Seating limited on the first floor kitchen area (2). The neighboring houses have bars over all first floor windows, so I was a little concerned about safety in the neighborhood, although we had no issues.
My sister stayed in the first floor bedroom and commented that is was a little bit damp. I think the house was decorated in an interesting way.
Iain's flat was absolutely amazing! Immediately felt at home reading a book and listening to vynl while relaxing in the third floor living room.
We found the location to be perfect for us. A quick 15 minute walk go us to most everything we wanted to see and do. Plenty of nice restaurarants in the area -- check out Rustic Stone if you get the chance -- as well as bars and tourist activites.
Would definitely recommed!
The townhouse was wonderful for three college age girls traveling! It was in a great location - we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The townhouse was very spacious and had all the amenities we were looking for. Overall a great experience!
Iain's apartment is in a nice, quiet location that is still close to all the main tourist activities in Dublin. Communication with Iain was very easy, and the arrival went very smoothly. It's also very close to the 747 bus to/from the airport, so getting there could not have been easier. There's lots of space in this apartment, so it would be good for two couples or a group of friends. Fun place!
