About this listing
NEARLY FULL ACADEMIC YEAR APARTMENT RENTAL FOR SINGLE PERSON, WHILE OWNER IS IN JAMAICA: It's never too early to plan for winter! $1200/month INCLUSIVE from 09/15/17 - 4/25/18, to include a few responsibilities, such as watering plants. Furnished home, lovely location, car necessary. Sunny, equipped kitchen.
This rental is not for a few days or short term. I am offering to rent my own home/apartment, a self-contained private unit in a two unit dwelling, to one person, FROM MID-SEPTEMBER TO THE LAST WEEK IN APRIL, 2018, while I am on leave to stay warm in Jamaica, due to physical challenges that prevent me from navigating the cold season.
Our location is central, close and convenient to shopping/malls, restaurants, entertainment, universities and Amherst center, so long as you have a vehicle, which is essential in winter. We have the additional advantage of a beautiful, rural setting surrounded by vast expanses of cornfields and panoramic views, beautiful sunsets and no close neighbors.
You are welcome to contact me via Airbnb email if you have specific questions.
One spacious bedroom, a living room/computer and TV room, bathroom and kitchen, rear deck and back yard, off street parking.
Interaction with guests
Guests will be on their own, with plenty of privacy, while owner is away.
Other things to note
Please contact landlord immediately (it won't cost you), if there are any system failures or repairs needed.
LOG-TERM (ACADEMIC YEAR ONLY): As a vegetarian of 40 years, I am requesting no cooking of flesh in my kitchen. Non- smokers only. Cleanliness is very important to me, and respect for the furnishings and accessories I will leave for your use. Awareness in regard to energy conservation means keeping the heat at a reasonable level (not tropical), and turning off lights, appliances, etc. when they are not in use. Motto: Follow your tracks, clean up after using the kitchen and bath. I provide a quality vacuum cleaner to be used on a regular basis. We practice recycling, and compost does not go in the trash but in a covered plastic container, then to the convenient compost pile outside. Earth-friendly cleaning solutions only please, or owner can provide.

I am Nancy, hailing from Amherst, MA and Negril, Jamaica, where I have been traveling more than 40 years. My father took me to Africa to live in Liberia and Ethiopia at the age of four until I was ten, which is no doubt why I was drawn to Jamaica in the 70's. My Jamaican friends call me a Jahmerican, because I am well integrated into Jamaican life, culture and language. I am really attracted to the laid back, warm and friendly nature of the local folks. In 2005 I found my little place in the sun in Negril; last year I attained permanent resident status. In Negril I built my home, where I could indulge my passions for gardening, healthy eating and natural lifestyle. It was an easy transition for me to become an international host with Airbnb when the opportunity presented itself, because my father's career was one of building cultural bridges as well.
Some things I love are friendship, being in nature, swimming and beaching, travel and outings (around Jamaica especially), and playing in the dirt, otherwise known as gardening. I love live reggae music, which I'll be happy to share with you, as it's free on the beach most every afternoon and evening during the tourist season. I aspire to a raw vegan diet to build health and strength and enjoy sharing healthy food preparation, am happy to prepare meals with you. My life motto would be akin to Bob Marley's lyric: "Live clean, let your works be seen". As your host, I want only for your holiday to be the best it can be, and I am available to assist with any little thing. I am happy to engage in conversation or offer you lots of privacy, so whatever you particular needs are, simply make them known.
