About this listing

The guest room is on the top floor of large loft style space which used to be an old bakery but is now functioning as a live/work space for a nice Spanish girl and a small, shy dog called Sombra. Behind the office (not shown in photos) is the large nicely furnished living space, shared bathroom, small but perfectly formed open plan kitchen plus a roof terrace with plenty of plants and outdoor seating and table - ideal for outdoor breakfasts and evening drinks.

The Space

This is a really charismatic live/work space, right next to a metro stop. The space is open plan but with the office, terrace and upstairs sleeping areas separated from the main living space. It's a quirky space full of character and charm.

The house is really well connected to the center by metro and cycle paths and is 10 minutes walk from the Poble Nou park and Barcelona's beaches if sun tanning and staring out to the Mediterranean sea are on the agenda.

Guest Access

Guests have full access to the whole living space at all times and access to the office when it is vacant.

Interaction with Guests

I am very friendly although the dog, when she is here, will probably hide from you :)

I mostly work, as well as live, in the house (I sometimes work outside) during this time I will be in the separate office space, working quietly.

You know how it goes sometimes I will be up for a beer, coffee or lunch/dinner with guests sometimes I will just want to relax and read a book or watch TV after a long, hard day.

I appreciate a good atmosphere is important during your stay and I will be friendly, courteous and happy to share my space and local knowledge at all times though if you remember I will be working and living my life as normal and not in full on holiday mode I'm sure we will all get on fine!

The Neighborhood

Poble Nou is also Barcelona's innovation/creative @22 district (Sonar and Primavera festivals, lots of design studios/galleries, Vice magazine etc have their offices here) which is nicely detached, but actually very close to, the city centre action/noise/fun/hassles and super close to the beach.

The barrio (district) is busy Monday-Friday during office hours but is very quiet at night and weekends as there are more offices/warehouses than apartments here. The barrio has great, vibrant local community surrounding the Rambla Poble Nou which is 3 blocks and a five minute walk from the house with lots of bars/ restaurants with outdoor terraces, shops and a good local food market.

There is very little crime in this area so it is very safe, unlike the centre where I would advise you to be careful (but not paranoid) with your possessions at all times.

Getting Around

The accommodation is 20m away from the entrance to Llacuna metro on L4 (The Yellow line) of the Barcelona metro system which takes you into the center in 7minutes.

Metro Hours:
Sun - Thur 5am - 12pm
Fri - 5am - 2am
Sat - 24 Hours

You can cycle into the center of the city either along the beach or via cycle paths in 10-15 minutes. There are bike rental shops very near the house.

If you prefer a taxi to the center costs €10-€15 depending on the day, time and honesty of the cab driver.

Other Things to Note

There will be a shelf in the fridge and cupboard free for your food and drinks. Feel free to use all pots, pans, crockery, oils and condiments just buy your own food. Tea and coffee are also included. I also provide towels, shampoo and shower gel. Please see the Airbnb map on our profile where I have listed some of my favourite food and drink places in the locality as well as some websites listing events, gigs, exhibitions etc. in the city.

House Rules

The only rule of the house is that you need to double lock the front door when you leave and enter the house - that's it! I appreciate you want somewhere nice, relaxed and comfortable for your holiday/business accommodation if you appreciate I want somewhere nice and relaxed for my live work space and we all respect each other I'm sure we will get on fine.

If you want a cigarette just walk outside to the nice terrace to light up. Don't worry it never gets too cold in Barcelona and rarely rains.
