Private room on top floor of large loft/converted bakery now functioning as a live/work space for a cute Spanish girl, nice English guy & a small, shy dog. Behind the office (not shown) is the large, nicely furnished, living space & roof terrace .
This is a really charismatic live/work space, right next to a metro stop. The space is open plan but with the office, terrace and upstairs sleeping areas separated from the main living space. It's a quirky space full of character and charm.
The house is really well connected to the center and is 10 minutes walk from the Poble Nou park and Barcelona's beaches if sun tanning and staring out to the Mediterranean sea are on the agenda.
Guests have full access to the whole living space at all times and access to the office when it is vacant.
Interaction with Guests
We are both friendly although the dog will probably hide from you :)
We mostly work, as well as live, in the house (we sometimes work outside) during this time we will be in the separate office space, working quietly.
You know how it goes sometimes we will be up for a beer or lunch/dinner with guests sometimes we will just want to relax and read a book or watch TV after a long, hard day.
We appreciate a good atmosphere is important during your stay and will be friendly, courteous and happy to share our space and local knowledge at all times though if you remember we will be working and living our lives as normal and not in full on holiday mode I'm sure we will all get on fine!
Poble Nou is also Barcelona's innovation/creative @22 district (Sonar and Primavera festivals, lots of design studios/galleries, Vice magazine etc have their offices here) which is nicely detached, but actually very close to, the city centre action/noise/fun/hassles and super close to the beach.
The barrio (district) is busy Monday-Friday during office hours but is very quiet in the nights and weekends as there are more offices/warehouses than apartments here. The barrio has great, vibrant local community surrounding the Rambla Poble Nou which is 3 blocks from the house with lots of bars/ restaurants with outdoor terraces, shops and a good local food market.
The accommodation is 20m away from the entrance to Llacuna metro on L4 (The Yellow line) of the Barcelona metro system which takes you into the center in 7minutes.
Sun - Thur 5am - 12pm
Fri - 5am - 2am
Sat - 24 Hours
You can cycle into the center of the city either along the beach or via cycle paths in 10-15 minutes. There are bike rental shops near the house.
If you prefer a taxi to the center costs €10-€15 depending on the day, time and honesty of the cab driver.
Other Things to Note

We appreciate you want somewhere nice, relaxed and comfortable for your holiday/business accommodation if you appreciate we want somewhere nice and relaxed for our live work space and we all respect each other I'm sure we will get on fine.
As long as your pets will get along with our dog they are more than welcome.
If you want a cigarette just walk outside to our nice terrace to light up. Don't worry it never gets too cold in Barcelona and rarely rains.
We really enjoyed our stay with Olaya, and we recommend her place to other travelers. The location is great, in a quiet neighborhood but steps away from the subway that can bring you downtown very quickly. Also there are many outstanding restaurants within walking distance.
Olaya was a perfect host. We had privacy whenever we needed it, but she was also there to answer all of our questions and give us great advice about Barcelona. The bedroom is comfortable, and the rest of the apartment is huge, a perfect working space. It was a little too chilly for us to take advantage of the patio, but I'm sure it's wonderful in spring or summer. All in all, a great Airbnb experience.
Staying with Olaya was quite lovely. The apartment is located next to the metro which is really convenient! Olaya was very friendly and gave us a nice guided tour around the house! She made us feel like we arrived home and welcomed us with a nice cup of tea. The sun was still shining and we enjoyed her terrace. The neighborhood itself is quiet and safe. I would definitely recommend young and adventures people staying with her! My only remark is that the bed was quite hard and on the floor, but overall we had a wonderful experience and a great stay in Barcelona!
Sorry to hear you weren't happy with the bed, it is advertised as a futon though in the description which is a Japanese style, flat mattress with rests on a low frame on the floor. Thanks for the kind words in general though, it was nice hosting you as well, hope the trip back was good.
We had a great time at Olaya's apartment. Great location and a good price. The Metro stop is just 20 steps away when you walk out the door and after 5 stops you're in the middle of the old city!
Olaya had some great tips and recommendation. One day we hired a bike just around the corner from the appartment. It was a great way to explore the city in a short time... I would definitely come back to this place when i visit Barcelona again! Thanks Olaya for your hospitality and for the nice chat we had :)
We´ve enoyed staying at this lovely place for a week in march. Both Olaya and James made us feel very welcome and home. They were also very helpful with recommending good restaurants as well as places to visit in Barcelona and/or arrond. The cool and cosy appartment is in a nice neighbourhood and is just by the metro. Thumbs up.
I had already been in that area of Barcelona before, so I knew the neighbourhood. It was the first time I was at Olaya and James's place, though and it was an extremely positive experience. The room is nice and clean as the rest of the house. Unfortunately, I could only see Olaya for a few minutes, but I spent some time with James, who has been a great host.
I was in Barcelona to work , so coming back from a day of hard work and chatting with James was really like coming back home and talk to a friend. We chat a lot of everything, we drank a beer on the terrace and we also had the time for a dinner together. What else could one expects?
Nice and quiet location just out of the centre of the city. The flat is 20 metres from the metro station so it is very easy to get into the centre. The beach is also very close and you can walk there in 10 minutes and enjoy the fantastic views.
James and Olaya are really nice and happy to give you some hints and tips on where to eat and things to see in the city.
We stayed with James and Olaya for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Although they both had to work most of the time we were there, they were very accommodating and friendly when we crossed paths. Their balcony was a favorite of ours for morning coffee, and the bed was comfortable. This was our first airbnb experience and we were very happy with it. Thanks James and Olaya!
Hi we are James and Olaya,
James is English and has spent many years living in Barcelona and works in the music world. I am Olaya, I'm Spanish, I was born in Asturias, but Barcelona has adopted me. I am studying volcanoes and enjoy the good life by the Mediterranean.
Both have traveled the world and what we love about Airbnb is that it is another way to land a new site, in a house that already has personality and makes you feel welcome. It's nice when the owners of the apartment, room, etc., leave you any recommendations of where to go and where to eat, is a great gift to find a new site.
Hola somos James y Olaya,
