Nairobi Christian Guesthouse II

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Nairobi, Nairobi, Kenya

The Space

The Flamingo Guesthouse is a self-contained apartment. Here is the 411:
-1 Bedroom(upstairs) and Bathroom
(sleeps one individual/couple)
-Fully furnished kitchen
-Smart living room and eating area.

Located 30 minutes from the Airport and 15 minutes to downtown Nairobi(depending on traffic).

The location is on the campus of a Christian University. Outside the walls of the compound, you can get a true taste of local Kenyan culture.

The apartment is small yet homely with spartan furnishings. It has a relaxed feel and is situated in the center of the campus.

Close to both the Northern By-Pass and the Thika Road Super Highway, it is easily accessible. Even though this is not Beverly Hills, there will soon be a large, modern shopping mall a ten minute walk away.

The apartment has one en suite bedroom(with double bed) on a second level, there is a kitchen and large living/dining area on the main floor as well as a small patio with outdoor furniture.

It is ideal for daily, weekly short-term stays ( self catering ) or longer term stays.

1.) Safari Park Hotel(walking distance) & Windsor Golf & Country Club is a short drive away.
2.) Paradise Lost off Kiambu road for boat riding, fishing and walking on the nature trails.
3.) The Karura Forest is 9km away (12min) great for weekend picnics and visit to the caves.
4.) Happy Life Children's Home for Abandoned Babies is close(great place to hold babies).

  • The guesthouse is an excellent place to stay. It's really spacious and Marina was a very gracious hostess, going out of her way to make sure everything was in order.

What blew me away was the fact that she had stocked the fridge for my arrival - with milk, bread, eggs, juice, snacks, fruit, etc. - all for free! When you arrive in a new country, the last thing you want to worry about is going out to find groceries, so that was a brilliant gesture which was much appreciated.

The only downside I would say is that the shower is temperamental and the wi-fi is patchy.

Apart from that everyone on the PAC campus is really friendly.

The same can't be said for Nairobi, however, as the country is hyper-sensitive following the Westgate tragedy. So all I can say is: don't interact with the local community, don't show an interest in their lives, and whatever you do, don't take any photos (especially of a church). You might just end up in the back of a police van under suspicion of being a terrorist. Seriously.

However, if you are going to Nairobi, I would highly recommend Nairobi Christian Guesthouse and Marina in particular.
