Full apartment over a working pottery and glass studio in the heart of Willamette Valley Wine Country.
Spectacular view of Mt Hood, Mt Jefferson and Willamette Valley. Birdwatcher's paradise.
Sleeps four people, one king size bed and two twin beds. The area with the king size bed has air conditioning. The rest of the apartment does not. There are really not many days in this area when the nights stay uncomfortably warm. There is a full kitchen, one bath, deck.
Dead-end gravel road approx. 40 miles south of Portland between McMinnville and Salem. Very quiet. Two night minimum with special price by the week.
No internet or cable. There is a TV which gets good reception from Portland area stations. Also VHS and DVD players with a fairly large selection of tapes and DVDs.
We are surrounded by wineries. Tasting room hours vary but you can usually find many open every day.
There is a small country store 6 miles from us. West Salem is 12 miles away. We are 10 miles from Amity and Dayton, 16 miles from McMinnville and aprox 60 miles from the Oregon Coast at Lincoln City.
We are a PET FREE accommodation. Please don't ask us to make an exception.
Check-in time is 2PM or anytime after that. No problem getting here later in the afternoon or evening. Just let us know when you're 5-10 minutes away and we will meet you at the apartment. If we don't have someone coming in the same day as you are leaving, later check-out is usually fine.
Please write if you have questions about the area.
We would also appreciate it if you would take the time to write something about yourself on your member page. I do not approve requests until I have heard from you or can read recommendations from other hosts. Thanks!!
Interaction with Guests
We always try to be at the apartment to greet guests. Sometimes we don't see people for the rest of their stay.
A car is a necessity. We are 10-12 miles from the nearest towns.
We expect guests to observe check in and out times unless special arrangements have been made in advance.
We do not have maid service so if you choose to use the kitchen, we expect it to be left in reasonable shape.
There is an extra charge of $10 per person per night for more than two people.
If you're looking for a quiet place in the wine country of Oregon, this is it. Beautiful views of the countryside from the deck. Linda made us feel very welcome. The kitchen/fridge was stocked with basic food, including fruit, cheese, yogurts, coffee, eggs, snack crackers, which was thoughtful because a store is pretty far away. The apartment was large and comfortable. We live in a city, and the quiet here was exquisite. We would definitely stay there again.
We LOVED staying in Linda and Craig's place. It was a perfect retreat from everything.
THE APARTMENT: This place is really a gem. Their place incredibly clean, stylish, and peaceful. With all of the beautiful art around the place, we felt like we were in an artist's retreat! The views were of incredible farmland, vineyards, and even Mt. Hood.
THE HOSTS: Linda and Craig were very lovely. Linda met us upon arrival, sharing some amazing produce from her garden and snacks that totally hit the spot after a day of travel. We asked to see their pottery/glass studio below, which was really a treat (we actually ended up buying a couple of pieces on the last day of our trip because we liked their work so much).
THE AREA: If you're looking to get away from everything, this place is perfect. We spent our time drinking wine, tasting cheese and exploring the quaint nearby towns. We will look very forward to returning at some point!
The Eola Hills Hideaway was everything we hoped for - lovely, clean and very, very private. Linda was a wonderful hostess - met us at the property with some bounty from her garden and had some welcome snacks in the apartment when we arrived. The views from the deck are breathtaking, and we were right in the middle of the Eola Hills-amity wine country.
A great, private apartment in the heart of Oregon wine country. The space is eclectic and homey; we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay while we enjoyed all that the Willamette Valley has to offer.
Linda was a wonderful host! The house was charming and very clean. Linda left us fruits and vegetables from her garden, as well as some other basic necessities (coffee, chocolate, cheese) which we appreciated very much. We had a wonderful stay, I'd recommend this host and home to anyone looking for a relaxing get-away.
It was just as I expected, we really enjoyed the stay. The place was clean and comfortable. The view was amazing. Linda was very nice to let us check in early. The place is close from lots of wineries. I definitely want to go back there!
Linda and Craig are both very nice people. Their house is amazing. So artsy so beautiful. We had a great and memorable time there. Definitely gonna miss the house. Highly recommend!!!!
I have been a craftsperson most of my life and have worked with jewelry, clay and glass over the years.
I was born in Eugene. My husband and I live on the farm I grew up on near Salem. I like to garden, travel and read. I currently have a shop on Etsy selling mostly vintage clothing.
My husband is a studio potter. He played drums in a R&R band in the '60s and has renewed his interest, currently taking drum lessons and sitting in at local jam sessions.
