It's irresistibly cosy, with a stove, books, and records. It's a 4 minute walk from the beach, and a 9 minute walk to the nearest pint. The Acorn is a self contained cottage attached to the side of our house.

The space

Check-in: After 3 pm if we've had someone leave that morning
Check-out: 11 am if another guest is due to arrive that day.

Otherwise we're easy.

The Acorn is a self-contained apartment attached to a family home on the Dingle Peninsula. It is a four minute walk to one of many stunning, unspoiled beaches. The Acorn is an intimate open-plan hideaway with a kitchen, living space, double bed and work desk. It has a bathroom with an electric shower. Linen and towels are provided. It has a large selection of books, DVDs and vinyl but there is no TV. There is internet access. There is a safe parking space. Surfboards and wetsuits are available on request.

We have just installed a stove in the space, so it will be proper cosy now!

Guests will be left to their own devices but we work from home so are usually here to offer help with travel plans or share our local knowledge.

Nestled between sea and mountains, the Acorn is on 3/4 of an acre, surrounded by mature trees. It is situated on the outskirts of Castlegregory village which is known for its fishing, water sports, surfing, hill-walking, and white sandy beaches, so much so it is known as the Gold Coast. It is also part of the Wild Atlantic Way, Ireland's first long-distance touring route. There are a number of fine eateries and pubs servicing the area, especially during the Summer season. There are two grocery shops, a pharmacy, a post office, a hairdresser's, beautician's, butcher's, laundrette and a gift shop.

There is a practically non-existent bus service (passes once a week!), so own transport is unfortunately mandatory! Unless you are alright hitching. Michael is, and never waits longer than 25 minutes for a lift.

The Acorn is a superb base from which to explore this incredible peninsula but it's also a great little space to enjoy some serious down time.

No public transport. :(

Other things to note

Because of the thick walls in our house, and our rural position, internet can be a bit patchy, so if you are planning a Netflix marathon or staging an international webinar, the Acorn might not be the place!

Free parking on premises
Wireless Internet
Indoor fireplace

Check in is anytime after 3PM
Check out by 11AM

We have kept the Acorn cat-free for a buddy of ours who is allergic. We would prefer if guests didn't smoke tobacco in there (it'll kill ya in the end!)

We have check in time set at 3 and check out at 11am. These are flexible when we don't have another guest arriving or departing. Check the calendar, or check with us!

Ailbhe & Michael's place was just as described! Cozy, quaint, clean and in a great location for exploring Dingle peninsula and the countryside. Or not, if you wanted to stay in all day, the cozy would be perfect for that too! Had a good selection of books, records, games. The kitchen is suitable as well, stocked with coffee, tea, staples, etc. But the area there (Castlegregory, Connor's Pass, Dingle, Blasket Islands) is gorgeous and all is within driving distance, highly recommend! Will be back one day!

The Acorn is the perfect hideaway for anyone looking to get away from it all. Cozy, homey, and clean, Ailbhe & Michael's place is tucked away in the quiet Dingle countryside. It's a short walk to the nearest village and close to some of the best hikes and sightseeing County Kerry had to offer. Ailbhe & Michael are attentive hosts--I was greeted by a marvelous loaf of bread and a warm fire on my first weary night--but are happy to give you your space. If your travels bring you to Dingle, I can't recommend the Acorn highly enough.

Reserved the Acorn based on the experience of my daughter and son-in-law who had stayed here a year ago. The kids raved about it and made us promise to consider this place. Suffice to say we would have missed our favorite accommodations of our entire trip. Turf fire greeted us to help shake of the Wild Atlantic Way welcome at arrival; fresh baked bread and Irish butter for our morning coffee/tea. Encouragement from Michael to do the Conor Pass over to Dingle. We could go on and on! Thanks Ailbhe and Michael!

Ah lads! What a lovely review. Warms the heart. We were worried that you might struggle with the much anticipated turf fire, but I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Favourite accomodations of the entire trip! What an honour. So glad you enjoyed the place, and lovely meeting you.

If you stay at The Acorn be prepared for the most relaxing vacation of your life. If you want beautiful countryside to walk on, and beautiful seascapes to gaze upon, this is the place for you. I went here after a very stressful couple of years at work, and I left feeling both refreshed in mind and spirit. Ailbhe and Michael are the perfect hosts, leaving the most wonderful bread for you on your arrival, and helping make good decisions on where to spend some quality time. They also give you plenty of space if you need it, but are available if you have a question or problem. Michael suggested a bike ride through Killarney National Park, and it was the highlight of my trip. This is a wonderful place where you get to see first hand the astounding beauty of Ireland. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone who wants to get away form it all, and bask in the beauty Ireland has to offer.

Peaceful and secluded feeling, with great on-demand hot water, lovely whole grain bread on the cutting board when we arrived and a charming little turf fire in the pixie-sized stove while we played Canasta in the evenings. So great to be able to walk down to the bay between storms.

This little place is very sweet and very cozy. We loved the location, the artsy touches, the attention to environmentally conscious living, the bookshelf full of reading options, the delicious bread left out for us and the yummy percolator coffee. And the close proximity to a gorgeous and quiet beach! I can't possibly list everything we loved about it, but I have to mention Ailbhe, too. She was lovely. We'd definitely recommend staying at the Acorn. You won't regret it.

The Acorn is awesome! Traveling during the offseason in the Dingle area was a little slow, but the Acorn offered all of the cozy warmth we needed. We were welcomed with fresh bread and a fire. We were sad to leave, even after 3 days!

Ailbhe & Michael are the parents of two small chublets. When they have the time to pursue other interests they like to make and watch films, dust down their dancing shoes, pick up a ping pong bat and faff about their gaff and garden.
