This is a basic maisonette flat set just behind the thriving hip Bermondsey Street, which is full of restaurants, coffee bars and shops. The flat is located behind the trendy Fashion and Textile Museum and is on the second floor of a quiet estate.
With the room comes a double bed, writing desk, TV, and clothing cupboard. The apartment is just off trendy Bermondsey Street and is ideal to explore London.
The apartment comes with a shared bathroom on the upper floor and a shared kitchen and toilet on the lower floor level. The kitchen is fully equipped and there are lots of small supermarkets close by.
There is a wealth of information about London available for you to read, linen and clean bed sheets are provided. Shampoo, hair dryer and towels are in the room for your use. Wifi is available for all guests.
Many tourists attractions are within walking distance to the flat:
Tower Bridge and the Tower of London
The Shard, Europe's tallest building
Textile and Fashion Museum (the flat is just behind this museum)
Independent galleries, like White Cube
Maltby Street Market
I am also happy to provide you information which is a little more off the beaten track, there are lots of small galleries in the area, which are fun to explore if you are into art and design. There are lots of great restaurants within walking distance to the flat, some are my favourite restaurants in town. I provide a list of recommended restaurants with your booking.
Please note that the flat is on the second floor of an apartment block, altogether the block has three floors. The apartment has four rooms and the remaining three bedrooms are occupied by other guests, so the kitchen and bathroom are shared places. I don't live in the property, but work nearby, and can be easily reached to help you with any questions/problems you may have.
There is no lift to access the flat, so if you arrive with heavy luggage, be prepared to carry this onto the second floor.
If you fancy riding a bike in London, which is a great way to explore the City, I am happy to lend you a bike. I have at least one bike, if you require two, please ask me in advance.
For any inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kitchen, bathroom, toilet and a push bike.
Interaction with Guests
Although I dont live in the property myself, I work just around the corner from there and if time permits, I am always happy to meet for coffee/tea during the day, just to make sure you are all set what to do etc.
Bermondsey Street is a hip, happening, neighbourhood street with lots of restaurants and bars. During the day, the area thrives with coffee bars and outdoor seating (weather permitting) and during the night, restaurants are buzzing. This is a neighbourhood where you find young and young people by heart enjoying what London has to offer. White Cube, which was the gallery to represent most YBA's (Young British Artists) is on Bermondsey Street and there are a number of transformed loft apartments, attracting the sophisticated, well-off, Londoners. Nearby you can walk to London Bridge, Tower Bridge, Maltby and Borough street markets, stroll along the Thames - all what London needs is a bit more sunshine!
London Bridge station is about 10 minutes walk away, offering access to Jubilee and Northern Tube line, access is also to mainland London Bridge station, where you can catch a train to Charing Cross (Trafalgar Square), or trains to airports such as Gatwick and Luton. Several buses run also from Tower Bridge Road or catch the river bus from Tower Bridge pier. The flat is in Zone 1, central London.
Other Things to Note
This is strictly a no-smoking flat, if you do have to smoke, please go outside. Thank you.
Please respect the other occupants in the house by being considerate and quiet at night times. Please ensure that you lock the front door at all times. There is a recycling system in operation, so please try to put paper, and other recyclable material in the appropriate rubbish bins. Thank you.
Martina is a great host, she gave us exact description how to get to the flat and provided us with lot of helpfull information about London. The room was small but nice and the bathroom was clean. We haven't got problem sharing it with four people. I would recommend this room to everybody.
Nice apartment very good situated near londin bridge. Near to many exciting locations and with some lovely cafes and bars around.
Martina is a very friendly and welcoming host. She gave us many tips to explore the city and she makes nice hats.
The host was very warm and friendly and made sure she was home to open the door. The room was cosy. The apartment was near eating places and a convenience store. The host allowed me to keep my luggage in her hallway past the checkout time as my flight was in the evening. The only downside is that her unit is on the 3rd floor with no lifts. Overall I had a good stay.
Martina was an absolute delight! My room was clean, linen provided, free access to whatever I needed in the flat and she had printed on paper everything I could need from taxi drivers to good restaurants and other sights to see. We had good conversation; she is very easy to talk to! The flat is only a short walk from London Bridge station. I would recommend this place to anyone.
We really enjoyed our stay at Martina's flat! She is a friendly and helpful host who is interested in her guest's wellbeing. The flat is nice, clean and central. We can only recommend staying at Martina's and would love to come back sometime. Thank you! :)
Martina made me feel very welcome even though I turned up over an hour later than agreed!
The room was clean and Martina gave detailed instructions on how to find the apartment so it was easy to find.
I would stay there again.
A well located flat with a nice host. I spent one night at Martina's and i would recommend this flat to anyone who wants to be strategically located in London.

Having traveled a lot through Europe, America and Asia, I love to host other travelers and make their stay as comfortable as possible. My passion is making hats, which I sell through my website and I also lend hat blocks to other milliners. I moved to the UK from Germany over 25 years ago and enjoy London's art, fashion and culture life. I have lived and worked in Melbourne, Australia, in Brussels, Belgium, where I worked for the European Parliament and currently work in central London. Having studied politics in the UK, my career has been focused on political lobbying.
I have two grown up daughters, my oldest lives in Sydney, Australia, and my youngest lives in central London. My son, who is 18, still lives with me. He is currently studying Graphic Design. We love to live in a creative household, so some of the graffiti art you see on the walls of my property, has been installed by my son.
I love London and can give you lots of advice about where to go, shop and what to do. I love films and galleries, so happy to point you to some of the amazing galleries in London.
I also use airbnb for my own travel, its a great way to meet other hosts.
