Description

The space

Balachladaich B&B is a purpose built B&B, built with our guests' comfort in mind. We are unique in that we are the only B&B right on the shores of Loch Ness, literally a stone's throw from the water.

'Ruthven' is a first floor double room with ensuite bathroom, private blacony and an ultra comfy king bed. It also offers fluffy towels, complimentary soaps, and completely uninterrupted views of the Loch. Cots are supplied free.

We also have 2 guest lounge areas, both with stunning views over the loch. Feel free to browse our guest library, use the binoculars, check your emails, and have a cup of tea or coffee while you watch the world go by.

Guest access

You can access our private stretch of beach directly from your room. Guests are welcome to build small fires on our beach or to use our gas barbeque. We have secure storage for bikes and canoes, and drying areas for outdoor clothing.

Interaction with guests

We like to chat to our guests when they arrive, but we appreciate that many people are here for a quiet relaxing break, so wont take up too much of your time! For anyone who wants, we are happy to give information on the local area, or advice on places to go.

The neighborhood

Loch Ness is one of the most famous landmarks on the planet. Dores is situated on the quieter, less touristy side of the Loch. It is a peaceful village with a stunning mountain backdrop and shores of the loch as foreground. Despite this, it is only a 10 minute drive to the Highland capital of Inverness, and the tourist attractions of the other side of the Loch can easily be reached in 30 minutes.

Breakfast offers a number of choices to suit everyone - from home made granola and other cereals, toast, fruit, yoghurt and juices, to a cooked option, including porridge, a full Scottish cooked breakfast, and a daily changing special.

Getting around

People arrive at Balachladaich by car, canoe, bike, and even helicopter on occasion. The local bus service passes our front door 5 times a day, and will happily stop to let you on or off here. The surrounding land is great for cyclists and walkers, and for those who haven't come with any mode of transport, we have a local taxi driver who is happy to help out, and acts as unofficial tour guide too.
There is plenty of parking at Balachladaich B&B.

Gorgeous, peaceful setting, and beautiful, comfortable rooms! We loved our stay at Balachladaich, even though it was very short. From our arrival, Fiona and her husband were friendly and helpful. We drove to dinner, but there is a shuttle to the restaurant down the road, and they can make reservations (highly recommend doing so). With our early leave time, they provided us with access to still enjoy a nice breakfast, which was much appreciated. It may seem a bit out of the way, but it's worth the extra minutes drive for the wonderful setting. We would visit again!

Balachladaich was ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! The hosts are so friendly and hospitable as well as just downright helpful. The views from the bedroom and the eating and living room area are stunning and the room is incredibly clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The breakfast was also delicious! We debated staying in another place because Balachladaich was slightly more expensive, but it was absolutely worth every penny.

This is a charming B&B. The property is fabulous- friendly horses and cat, gorgeous views. Our room was very large, and the bed was great. Breakfast was some of the best that we have had on our trip. Fiona and John were absolutely amazing- if you get the chance, you should stay with them!

Fiona and John have a created the most welcoming home for travellers. The modern house is bright, sitting right on The Ness where one can sit on your balcony watching the sun set ......perhaps see Nessie!! The Dores Inn, where Fiona booked us for dinner was the perfect local spot .Waking to the comforting sound of The Ness, after a wonderful sleep in our lovely room was only surpassed by the great breakfast Rob prepared for us!
