This is a fully loaded flat - kitchen, bathroom, 2 bedrooms, dining area and living room. The washer and dryer are accessible at certain times and are shared with me (the host).
Culture, gardens, homey, cafes, 100+ gelato store, and shops just up the street. everything close by.
The house and everything in it!
The downstairs is "off limits" however, this is where the washer and dryer is and i can arrange a time for you to use it/ just give me a smidge of notice so I can make sure everything is available to you!
Interaction with Guests
I live in the basement flat. I don't need to interact (have a separate entrance) but are there if you need help with anything!
Everything is here and within walking distance! craft brewery to hang with friends, cafes/bakery for the morning with amazing blueberry cinnamon rolls, shops and the awesome Commercial Drive neighbour hood full of interesting finds and people!
Commercial Drive is an extremely community-oriented neighbourhood in the city. It used be known as Vancouver's "little-italy" but has evolved and matured over time. The atmosphere's alive like a summer street in Montréal with busy patios, socializing locals, and buskers on street corners. Despite the many things going on and the vibrancy, it is also a very relaxing and chill place.
Whatever you're into - you can find it here. Every type of restaurant catering to every type of diet, cool boutiques, fresh gelato, neighbourhood delis, lots and lots of cafes (old school italian & more modern), poetry, lots of activism, bikram yoga, and alternative lifestyles... If you really want to see the true Vancouver, this is the place!
There are always festivals going on to engage the community as well as impromptu music fests on sunny days at Grandview Park !
Public transport (skytrain and buses) are very close, skytrain a bit longer away than bus routes, but it is by a main street so buses are frequent - the taxi place is half way up the block too!
Other Things to Note
There is a pet fish, his name is Marco Polo. If you are only staying for the 1 night - no need to feed him! if a bit longer, he really does appreciate food every so often.
- all smoking outside please (nice porch area to do so, private)
- For larger groups we will be asking for a security deposit.
Info: Yes, we live in the basement suite but we hear very little sound- do not worry about moving around late at night or what have you (just be careful of music - other neighbors don't appreciate it bumpin' in the middle of the night!). Please make yourself as comfortable as you wish to be!
I stayed at the RADanac House with a few of my friends for a few days while on vacation in Vancouver. The living space was enough for the 6 of us. The housing and neighborhood description was as stated - located in a nice area of town with easy access to most places. Janel was very accommodating, and even though there was no actual interaction in person, she was very helpful through out message conversations.
This house is awesome! The furnishings are eclectic and unique and we loved the bonsai everywhere!!
We brought our dog, and she loved sitting on the front porch with us in the morning. Big thank you to Janel and Brandon for allowing us to bring the pooch!
We loved the brewery across the street, and there are lots of neat little shops tucked away nearby.
We had a really great time and felt right at home in the Radanac House. Thank you Janel and Brandon for making us feel so welcome. We will be back!
We had a great stay at the RADanac house... it's fun and funky. Our hosts were friendly and very responsive to our questions. The location is great for those wanting to stay in East Van / near the drive but it is also close to transit if you want to go elsewhere. Thanks again!
Hey, what a fun stay! Location was perfect for BC and Vancouver exploration, and the space was creatively and comfortably decorated. Loved the terrarium collection, and knew we had everything we'd need to make a nice dinner in. Janel was great at getting us settled and thinking through all the instructions we'd need to be set. Great spot for a great stay!
We had an excellent stay at the RADAnac House. Janel was a gracious host, working with me to get laundry done and quickly responding to every request or question I had about her home and the city. We loved our first AirBNB experience. Thank you!!
The house is in a good location, easy to get to the shops, and a short drive into downtown. Unfortunately not very child friendly as there is a lot of small objects around in this artsy decor, and no crib available. Good value for money.
Me and my parents had a great time at Janels place. Janel and Brandon are great hosts. They were very helpful and it was also easy to reach them if there were any questions. It's a good location. The bus stops are just a few minutes away so it's easy to get to Gastown or Robson street without having to worry about finding a parking lot.
The RADanak house is easy to find. The decorations in the house are lovely. Me and my parents especially LOVED the record player - and the amazing records. The house was clean too. We'd definetly stay there again!!
