Interaction with Guests

As much or as little as they want. I was born and raised in Philadelphia so I am happy to make recommendations and help with directions etc.

The Neighborhood

Safe and clean center city 're-gentrified' neighborhood, 1/2 block from fun restaurants, take out, wine bars, Walgreens/Drug Store, coffee houses/cafes (3 blocks from a Starbucks!), 3 blocks to a gym, 4 blocks from Rittenhouse Square, 5 blocks from upscale shopping and the business district. Walking distance to Convention Ctr., Kimmel Center, Academy of Music, City Hall, and historical areas.

Getting around

Two blocks from subway, 1/2 block from bus route, 7 blocks to regional trains .....most things in the city are within walking distance.

Other Things to Note

I am happy to help a guest prior to arriving with information often communicated via email. Lucky for me, my neighborhood is now one of the most popular re-gentrified neighborhoods in the city. I am half a block from a garage if you are driving though on the weekends, street parking is an option as well. University city is also easily accessible (25 minute walk, a bike ride or a quick cab ride). If you coming to Philly on business, I am truly right in the city and am a 10 minute walk to the business district.

  • This was our second time staying in John's lovely Rittenhouse Square home and it was great once again. John is incredibly hospitable. The room was clean, nice, and comfortable as were the bathroom and kitchen. The location is wonderful and we plan to continue to contact John whenever we're headed to Philly!

  • John was a wonderful host, very nice and helpful. His house is very well located in Philadelphia, close to everything. The house is very clean and attractive. If we have to come back in Philadelphia, it will be definitely in John's house that we would like to stay. Thank you for everything and keep your smile ! :)

  • John is a welcoming host. He really opened his house up to me for my visit and I felt very much a guest in his charming home. His neighborhood has lots of interesting small restaurants and is a safe area near public transportation. The bedroom and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. I had a convention in the city and walking from Market street was a pleasure with several Starbucks on the way (important).

  • It was my husband and I's first time using Airbnb and we really couldn't have asked for a better first experience. John was incredibly accommodating and considerate, and his place was really lovely and in a great location!

  • Our stay at John's place was really great. John's house is just lovely and you feel that everything is done to make you comfortable: nice bedroom with some touristic books about Philly, private bathroom with towels provided and even a living room with TV if you have time for that :-)
John was really nice to allow us to check in after his ideal time. His house is in a really nice area, close to coffee shop and walking distance to the historical center, walnut and south street. We came by car and were worried about the parking. But we could park 2 blocks away in a street with free spot saturday and sunday, so could let the car during all our stay.
If you want to visit Philly, i highly recommend John's place.

  • Definitely would stay here again. The place is homey, spacious, and clean! There's a huge bathroom with fresh towels and toiletries. A plush leather couch to kickback on in the TV room. Like another poster said, you basically have the 2nd floor to yourself!
The neighborhood is safe and walkable, and it's very close to the city's major attractions. Getting to the subway was convenient, and we took that everywhere if we couldn't walk.
John was friendly and professional, and easy to get a hold of. He gives you privacy if that's what you're looking for, but is also a pleasure to talk to. He has great recommendations. When we asked about a local place to watch the eagles playoff game, he referred us to Black Sheep which was an awesome place to watch with Philadelphia fans.

  • John was a super host and we enjoyed our stay immensely. He went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed; all the time willing to go that extra mile. You're pretty much getting an entire floor to yourself if you stay at his place--nicely appointed living area, comfortable bedroom, and huge bathroom. Overall, the guest space is bigger than most NYC apartments, so that's a definite plus. As long as John continues to keep his doors open, I don't see us staying anywhere else while we're in town. Thanks, John!

  • What an excellent stay! John was great at keeping in touch before our arrival, stayed in communication as needed and was welcoming once we made it to Philly. His home is spacious, beautiful and clean. We had our own room, private bathroom, and even a comfortable sitting room. His home is within walking distance of most of the sites right downtown as well as yummy restaurants and nightlife. If we ever need a place to stay in Philly again, we'll definitely be considering John's home!
