I prefer to leave guests to enjoy their privacy. Unless any specific needs come up, you wont see me. A combination lock box has keys to the house, and you will get the combination when you book it. Hassle free checking in our out of the house. Just lock the door and leave the keys in the lockbox when you leave. The house is yours to enjoy for your stay. I live close by and am available via telephone, so I am only a phone call away if something should go wrong.
This is a quiet neighborhood. Mothers running with baby strollers and people walking their dogs is a common sight here. Because of the various hiking trails and river access close by, there is a variety of walks to chose from. The road does not have alot of fast drivers, and most houses in the area are occupied by older people, so things are pretty quiet. The Piihonua area is home of the most visited waterfalls on the Big Island. And they are all within walking distance from the house. If the you prefer the beach, that is only a few minutes away.
The house is only a few miles from "downtown" Hilo, and is on one of the main avenues, that if you follow down the hill, will take you right into town. There is a HELE ON bus that runs by the house a few times daily. Please check bus schedule. The drive to the house is a one road drive, so its easy to find. There are a number of walks and hikes and access to the river all within one block, giving a walk in the neighborhood many options

Never saw Demian but he was quick to respond to any questions we did have. The house was adequate, didn't spend a whole lot of time there, mostly just evenings. We found the natures sounds relaxing at night, very quiet area. Reminded me of a typical northern Minnesota cabin. We had a great exploring Hawaii, lots to see and do, but not enough time, will have too return. We certainly would do this again.
We ( a couple and one extra adult) stayed 2 nights in the 2 bedroom place which is 1/2 of a duplex. The house is in a lovely neighborhood, but is a little older than neighboring homes. However, it was perfectly clean and comfortable, and we even did a little cooking and eating there. Just a one minute walk down the cross street is a tropical area with river. (a few minutes down the road, river becomes a waterfall). Only about 6 - 8 minutes to various parts of Hilo, so we went back and forth several times. Having once before stayed in an expensive but dorky hotel in Hilo, Demian's place was a terrific bargain. Next time we go to Hilo, we will stay there again.
Great spot in Hilo town highly recommended.
We stayed in this house for four nights on a mini vacation from Oahu. It was much cheaper and easier than a hotel. It was easy to find on a main road, and the parking in the front was very convenient. Just remember, first left after the dead end sign. The shower was amazing. The kitchen was big and clean and we used it almost every day. The bedrooms are clean and the beds comfortable, especially after long days of driving and exploring Big Island. We didn't meet Demian, but he was always quick to respond to emails before the trip, so I know he would have been easy to contact if we had had any problems. This was a great place to stay for a low maintenance trip.
We came down for week retreat on the big island. This is very close to down town Hilo. We had a very pleasant stay.
We never actually met Demian, but he was readily available by email and responded quickly. It is an older, spacious acomodation in a modest neighbourhood. The road can be a bit noisy at times, but all in all, we enjoyed the ambience. It was a good location to visit the East side of the island with day excursions and come back at night. It was also within walking distance to some of the sights within Hilo. With fridge and stove, coffee makers, toaster, microwave, blender, coffee grinder and basic pots pans and dishes, we had no problem preparing meals for ourselves.
All in all, we enjoyed staying here.
Thanks per it was a great stay at your unit per very convenient and quite neighbor hood. Will probably stay there in the near future.
We found a nice house with large livingroom, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. Everything was clean and well prepared! The location is nearly perfect a little up the hill. Too far to walk down town Hilo but very quiet and cool.
We like this place it has a character all it's own. Plenty of room, had everything we needed in the kitchen. Laundry was convenient. The shower is a work of art, we enjoyed finding turtles in the rocks. The bed is the most comfortable we had in our 3 weeks stay in Hawaii. We loved hearing the coqui frogs at night.
