The duplex is part of a 2,5 floor apartment in the middle of Antwerp: 5 min away from the Meir, public transport & rental bikes.
The duplex has a private sleeping & living area with desk and a shared bathroom.
Hello! Nice to meet you.
Let me guide your around my home!
--- Tell me, where is it? ---
The duplex is part of a 2,5 floor apartment in the middle of Antwerp: just an easy stroll (about 5 min) away from the Meir (Antwerp's main shopping street), trams, busses, train station and rental bikes.
The Keyserlei is also a 5 min walk from my place: there you can find numerous restaurants, a cinema, the zoo and a fitness.
You can find the the public library around the corner as well. It's on a little square where there's also a nice coffee bar. My favorite Thai place is not far away either. All spots are marked in the neighborhood guidebook I made here on Airbnb.
--- What does it look like? ---
Well, it's located in a typical old mansion (think: wooden floors, authentic elements, and very light: we love sunshine!) The apartment starts on the second floor of the house, please keep in mind there are some steps to climb (that's the way it goes in old mansions :)).
1st floor: laundry room & toilet
2nd floor: living room & kitchen
3rd floor: my bedroom, the shared bathroom (shower + toilet) and your place to stay (the duplex)
You'll have your own private living area (couch, living room table, ...) & desk with stairs up to the sleeping area. The bathroom is shared (with me). There's a double sleeping bed/futon (with a standard bed mattress) and a fan for summer days & heating for winter.
Maximum 2 people can stay at the apartment. There's a blanket to get cozy in the couch, soap & shampoo in case you forgot & towels. I have a hair dryer you can use as well and if there's anything else you would need: just ask :)
--- And what about the city? ---
You'll get a map & booklet filled with local hotspots. Antwerp is only 45 minutes (by train) from Brussels or Ghent. If you want to explore any other cities - I'm happy to help you out as well - just let me know!
You can always take a look at the Airbnb guidebook I filled in to check my favorite spots in the city.
--- Any practicalities? ---
Only one: smoking is allowed, but only on the balcony.
--- Can I park my car? ---
(1) Yes, you can park your car in the street but don't forget to pay (from 9-19h for €0,70 to €1,10/hour) from Monday to Saturday.
(2) If you like to park your car inside, there are paid indoor parkings around the corner as well € 18 a day (Rooseveltplaats: see guidebook).
(3) The only free option is a 30 min walk or 10 min tram ride away, at the docks (Waalsekaai: see guidebook).
--- Can I rent a bike? ---
There are bikes around the corner you can rent, they are managed by the city and are called "Velo". You pick them up at one station and then drop them off at another one in the city (there are plenty around!).
You can order a day or week pass from the "Velo Antwerpen" website (in EN, FR and DE) with your credit card. You then get a code you can enter at the station to get your bike.
Prices are: €8/week or €3.6/day.
They are designed for short rides (approx 30 min each time) around the city (which will get you far, the city isn't that big).
--- Good to know ---
My apartment is officially registered as a guesthouse and therefore meets all the required safety regulations set by the city council (fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, emergency escape exists on every floor,...).
I'm mostly out during the day (working) but I'm there in the evening if you have any questions or want to have a chat :)
Take a look around, and do let me know if you have any more questions!
Smoking only allowed on the balcony :) - so not inside the apartment.
Check in is flexible, but needs to be checked in advance: I will always make the time to let you in, hand you the keys and show you around the house.
Check out time is based on what suits you best.
Laura was out travelling the world so I was hosted by Lotte who was very gracious and easy going. She shared information on her favorite places around the neighborhood where I could get coffee and buy groceries. The neighborhood is lively, a bit chaotic and has a diverse population. It is also close by to the central rail station, a bus transit station, and tram lines. And it was a 10 - 15 minute walk to the historic downtown.
Her apartment was in a building shared by others and it was spaced out on 3 levels accessed by narrow stairs. A good reason for me to pack light. The guest room was like a mini apartment. As in the posted photos, it had a living room space with a loft bedroom. There was a queen-size mattress on the floor, which was fairly comfortable, along with a clothes rack, side table and floor fan. The shared bathroom was spacious and right next to guest room. I had access to the kitchen and space in the refrigerator for food.
I enjoyed my stay in Antwerp and would recommend Laura's (Lotte's) apartment because of the host, the location, and the comfortable space.
The room is charming and unique, and many information pamphlets and restaurant recommendations had been set out for us. The shared bathroom is large and well-kept and the whole place is clean. It's about 80 stairs to get up to the bed from street level; the last 15 or so are rather unstable feeling, especially if you are carrying luggage or are a larger person. We were greeted by a friend if the host, Lotte, who was very nice and friendly but we didn't cross paths much. The immediate surrounding area felt fairly safe in the day time but wasn't great at night.
De kamer is in een top buurt, dicht bij het station, winkels, en restaurants. Lotte was erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam, maar verder hebben we ook goed onze rust/privacy gehad. We hebben een heerlijk verblijf gehad!
Great stay in this apartment. Our visit was too short but were comfortable in Laura's space. Her roommate was also very helpful. Aside from the great apartment, travellers should know that almost everything is closed on Sundays FYI.
We really enjoyed our stay at Meraki! Laura was welcoming and we only see her at our arrival. She let us use her stuff for breakfast. The apartment is located near the city center and antwerp central station.
We stayed here for 3 nights for the weekend of Tomorrowland! The hosts were great, they were friendly but kept to themselves.
Laura's place was perfect for our stay in Antwerp. The space is well designed and we felt right at home. My husband and I were there for a month and a half and we enjoyed every day. Lotte always made us feel welcome and was happy to give us tips about about where to go in the city. The apartment is centrally located and it is easy to walk to the Central Station and the city center. Overall, we had a great experience and hope to get the chance to come again in the future.
Hi, I'm Laura. I live in Antwerp and have a passion for all that's creative. During the day I work at an advertising agency, in the evenings I dedicate my time to my creative work and photography under the label "LAU+" and "life is a playground".
I'm recently back from a one year trip around Asia, so you can say I adore traveling as well ;). Next to that I'm also a real food lover and I have a sweet spot for local entrepreneurship.
Let me know if you have any questions!
