The duplex is part of a 2,5 floor apartment in the middle of Antwerp: 5 min away from the Meir, public transport & rental bikes.
The duplex has a private sleeping & living area with desk and a shared bathroom.
Hello! Nice to meet you.
Let me guide your around my home!
--- Tell me, where is it? ---
The duplex is part of a 2,5 floor apartment in the middle of Antwerp: just an easy stroll (about 5 min) away from the Meir (Antwerp's main shopping street), trams, busses, train station and rental bikes.
The Keyserlei is also a 5 min walk from my place: there you can find numerous restaurants, a cinema, the zoo and a fitness.
You can find the the public library around the corner as well. It's on a little square where there's also a nice coffee bar. My favorite Thai place is not far away either. All spots are marked in the neighborhood guidebook I made here on Airbnb.
--- What does it look like? ---
Well, it's located in a typical old mansion (think: wooden floors, authentic elements, and very light: we love sunshine!) The apartment starts on the second floor of the house, please keep in mind there are some steps to climb (that's the way it goes in old mansions :)).
1st floor: laundry room & toilet
2nd floor: living room & kitchen
3rd floor: my bedroom, the shared bathroom (shower + toilet) and your place to stay (the duplex)
You'll have your own private living area (couch, living room table, ...) & desk with stairs up to the sleeping area. The bathroom is shared (with me). There's a double sleeping bed/futon (with a standard bed mattress) and a fan for summer days & heating for winter.
Maximum 2 people can stay at the apartment. There's a blanket to get cozy in the couch, soap & shampoo in case you forgot & towels. I have a hair dryer you can use as well and if there's anything else you would need: just ask :)
--- And what about the city? ---
You'll get a map & booklet filled with local hotspots. Antwerp is only 45 minutes (by train) from Brussels or Ghent. If you want to explore any other cities - I'm happy to help you out as well - just let me know!
You can always take a look at the Airbnb guidebook I filled in to check my favorite spots in the city.
--- Any practicalities? ---
Only one: smoking is allowed, but only on the balcony.
--- Can I park my car? ---
(1) Yes, you can park your car in the street but don't forget to pay (from 9-19h for €0,70 to €1,10/hour) from Monday to Saturday.
(2) If you like to park your car inside, there are paid indoor parkings around the corner as well € 18 a day (Rooseveltplaats: see guidebook).
(3) The only free option is a 30 min walk or 10 min tram ride away, at the docks (Waalsekaai: see guidebook).
--- Can I rent a bike? ---
There are bikes around the corner you can rent, they are managed by the city and are called "Velo". You pick them up at one station and then drop them off at another one in the city (there are plenty around!).
You can order a day or week pass from the "Velo Antwerpen" website (in EN, FR and DE) with your credit card. You then get a code you can enter at the station to get your bike.
Prices are: €8/week or €3.6/day.
They are designed for short rides (approx 30 min each time) around the city (which will get you far, the city isn't that big).
--- Good to know ---
My apartment is officially registered as a guesthouse and therefore meets all the required safety regulations set by the city council (fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, emergency escape exists on every floor,...).
I'm mostly out during the day (working) but I'm there in the evening if you have any questions or want to have a chat :)
Take a look around, and do let me know if you have any more questions!
Smoking only allowed on the balcony :) - so not inside the apartment.
Check in is flexible, but needs to be checked in advance: I will always make the time to let you in, hand you the keys and show you around the house.
Check out time is based on what suits you best.
Thanks Laura, the room is really charming and very well located. We had a great weekend :)
We had so much fun in Antwerp at Laura's place. Laura and Tim were absolutely fantastic hosts! The Apartment was cute, and kept very clean with towels and extra shampoo and such if you forgot. The bed was also very comfortable. They had lots of information about Antwerp that you can look at as well! Antwerp itself is so easy to get to, everything was within walking distance. The apartment was close to the central station and close to the main areas of Antwerp. We loved staying with Laura and would very highly recommend them. Hope to see you guys again! Thanks!!
In Antwerp Laure welcomed us warmly. We visited during the week, but she made time to hand us the keys. The room was in perfect condition, with nice little attentions for the guests. During the stay our privacy was fully respected. Yet we knew we could always turn to Laura - who stayed one floor below - with problems or questions.
De advertentie en de foto's kloppen precies met de gehuurde ruimte. Leuk optrekje voor een weekendje Antwerpen!
My girlfriend and I spent 2 nights in Laura's house. She and her boyfriend were extremely friendly and helpful. They gave us tips to what to do in the city, maps and etc. We felt very comfortable to use any facility inside the house. The 2 floors room is quite large, with a good space in the 1st floor and just a bed in the second one. The bathroom is large as well, and so clean! As the entire house.
It is a nice place to stay, actually the flat is so cozy and well decorated that was a good inspiration for us.
Thank you for everything, I really recommend the room.
Laura was out travelling the world so I was hosted by Lotte who was very gracious and easy going. She shared information on her favorite places around the neighborhood where I could get coffee and buy groceries. The neighborhood is lively, a bit chaotic and has a diverse population. It is also close by to the central rail station, a bus transit station, and tram lines. And it was a 10 - 15 minute walk to the historic downtown.
Her apartment was in a building shared by others and it was spaced out on 3 levels accessed by narrow stairs. A good reason for me to pack light. The guest room was like a mini apartment. As in the posted photos, it had a living room space with a loft bedroom. There was a queen-size mattress on the floor, which was fairly comfortable, along with a clothes rack, side table and floor fan. The shared bathroom was spacious and right next to guest room. I had access to the kitchen and space in the refrigerator for food.
I enjoyed my stay in Antwerp and would recommend Laura's (Lotte's) apartment because of the host, the location, and the comfortable space.
The room is charming and unique, and many information pamphlets and restaurant recommendations had been set out for us. The shared bathroom is large and well-kept and the whole place is clean. It's about 80 stairs to get up to the bed from street level; the last 15 or so are rather unstable feeling, especially if you are carrying luggage or are a larger person. We were greeted by a friend if the host, Lotte, who was very nice and friendly but we didn't cross paths much. The immediate surrounding area felt fairly safe in the day time but wasn't great at night.
Hi, I'm Laura. I live in Antwerp and have a passion for all that's creative. During the day I work at an advertising agency, in the evenings I dedicate my time to my creative work and photography under the label "LAU+" and "life is a playground".
I'm recently back from a one year trip around Asia, so you can say I adore traveling as well ;). Next to that I'm also a real food lover and I have a sweet spot for local entrepreneurship.
Let me know if you have any questions!
