I rent a room in Kleinbasel. You can reach our beautiful river Rhine by foot (5min) & the old city center is close as well. The house is located in a quiet street of a lively neighborhood. Bars and restaurants are nearby, as well as public transport

The space

I live in a beautiful 4-room-appartement with my son (born 2011). The room we rent (13m2) has a bed for two, a small cupboard, a chair and the possibilty to make tea/coffee. If you're travelling with kids an extra matress is available (on request).
Everything you need is in close walking distance: bus stop & tram, supermarket, restaurants, bars, farmacy. A park is just opposite the house.

Guest access

You will share the bathroom with us: during the week, we need access to the bathroom between 6.30 and 8 AM (in the morning) and between 7 and 8 PM (in the evening). Please let me know if you need the bathroom during these hours, and we will figure it out. The kitchen is private (you cannot use it). There is the possibility to make tea and coffee in your room. Sometimes (not always), special arrangements can be made. Talk to me :)

Interaction with guests

I like helping guests finding their way through Basel and tell them my favorite places for eating, drinking and just being. Apart from that I'm normally quite busy (work/life/son), so I love to spend the evenings with myself or my friends. But I'm always there to help if you need some advice.
My son is quite communicative and will want to say hello to you as well.

Other things to note

We get up quite early in the morning most of the time (around 7 am). We often also leave the house rather early but we might spend a morning at home from time to time.
If you need a bike, ask me! Basel is a very good bike city.
We live in the 3rd floor. There is no elevator.

Johanna and her son were very sweet, friendly, as well as discreet and convenient. The room is simple but comfy and we had everything we needed. Johanna gave us some good tips about the city and neighbourhood. We liked the surroundings a lot, both quiet and lively with a few very nice cafés and bars... Danke für die schöne Zeit :)

I spend 2 nights at Johanna's place and had a really great time! The room is nice and I felt very welcomed. Johanna and her son are very lovely, also the appartment is close to the city center, by foot or bus. Would stay again if I come back to Basel!

We stayed 2 nights at Johanna's place. It was super easy to find and exactly as on the pictures. We felt very welcome and are really happy that we stayed there. Thank you very much for your hospitality!

Johanna is a sweet person and made our stay very simple and convenient. Good communication and thorough instructions regarding our stay was really appreciated! The room is clean, spacious and homey to its feel - just like the apartment in general. For a longer stay we probably would have liked access to the kitchen, but for a few days the room's kettle, Nescafe and tea worked just fine :) Johanna's son is a really cute live wire, but did not bother us. Recommended!

My girlfriend and I stayed with Johanna and Jonathan this November. They are very lovely people who make you feel welcome in their cozy apartment. Johanna even gave us some great advice and tips that improved our experience in Basel. We had a great communication and would definitely stay again with them. The apartment has a very good location, in a center area where you can find anything you need (shops, restaurants, bars, supermarkets) and it's about a 10 minutes walk from the old town. The room and the bed were very comfortable and we even had tea and coffee to prepare in the morning :) Recommend 100 %

Johanna was a wonderful host, very friendly and helpful in every way. The appartment itself was super cosy. Our room and the bathroom were clean and we had all we needed. Johanna's friendly little child was really adorable and he made the place lively. The neighbourhood was also nice and quiet and there are a few good eating places and bars closeby. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay. I would really recommend staying here!

I'm living & travelling with my 4-year-old son. I like eating, dancing, reading and much more. My son likes water, sand and animals of all forms and sizes. We like meeting people and are experienced couchsurfers both as hosts and as guests.
