The Space

This is a historic house, but also a lovely family home full of beautiful antique furniture and interesting detail. (The B and B business is already well established and has been awarded 4 stars by Visit England). We can be flexible and negotiate the price for longer stays.

Guest Access

We love to show guests around and are happy to let you explore the house, gardens and 9 room cellar! You have a private double room and shower room, also the private use of the upstairs lounge where breakfast can be provided if required for a small extra amount.

Interaction with Guests

We are happy to interact with guests as much as they want, equally we are happy to leave guests to themselves. There is an extended family here and we all come and go! We have plenty of local maps and information, if you are here to explore the area. We will do all we can to make your stay happy and comfortable.

The Neighborhood

This is a wonderful calm house in a quiet area, but only minutes away from the town centre. There are lots of restaurants and charming pubs within easy walking distance of the house.

Getting around

The town is well served by both trains and buses.

Other Things to Note

Breakfast can be provided for a small extra cost. We have a friendly dog, but can easily keep her away if you aren't a dog person. We are happy to have well behaved pets to stay.

  • An excellent night's stay at this fine house. Very welcoming hosts, and comfortable surroundings.
We were delighted with the breakfast, which was served with care and attention, in a lovely private room.
Also there is a delightful garden at the rear which one can wander around at leisure and enjoy the birds singing!
We wouldn't hesitate in recommending this venue - hope to return one day.

  • Just wanted to thank you all for allowing us to stop in your lovely home. Your accomodation, garden & breakfast were all a delight. As a lover of all things historic it was an unexpected & special treat to be given your personal tour of the Town Hall. We loved Newark & would love to come back & see you all again some time in the near future.

  • What a superb experience staying with delightful Rowan and her parents at her splendid, historic and extremely comfortable home in beautiful Newark on Trent. Superb! Rowan, you are an excellent host in every respect. You cheerfully picked us up at the station, you drove me to the nearby rental car company, and you provided the very best service, ensuring that our stay was the best, the very best. Whatever our needs, you were right there cheerfully and effectively providing support. The room we stayed in was the best: beautifully decorated, super comfortable -especially the bed. Such a treat too to hear a little of you teaching music to your student(s)in the room next door one morning, and playing the most superb piano one afternoon. The breakfast in the private dining room was incredible: delicious, beautifully presented, and served so graciously by your dad and mum. Rowan, you and your parents made us feel like members of the family, great companionship, plenty of laughter, yet time to ourselves completely undisturbed when chosen. Your beautiful big garden proved a lovely retreat on sunny afternoons and our walks into lovely, historic Newark on Trent were magical. Five star review too for the Indian restaurant your dad recommended, which is honestly the best I've tasted in my numerous travels to England and when visiting India itself. My wife and I were thrilled by our experience staying with you, Rowan and we will be back just to do it again! We strongly recommend others staying with you and not only those visiting the area. It's absolutely worth the ninety minute fast train from London specifically to experience Rowan's superb hospitality, her very comfortable historic home, and enjoying beautiful Newark on Trent in the heart of the stunning English countryside.

Thanks John, you're very kind. We loved having you both here, especially the conversations about directions and routes to your destinations, never knew the comedy potential in that subject! Do come and visit again.

  • This is the most beautiful place to stay. We were warmly welcomed. The room was elegantly furnished and the private sitting/ dining room was just stunning. I also loved the collection of old needlepoint samplers and ornaments. Rowan's mother cooked a spectacular breakfast and also showed us around the rest of the home which is beautiful also. I would highly recommend this B & B.

  • Just lovely! The house and room were beautiful - I felt very much at home.

I can't say enough nice things about the hosts - they were friendy, extremely accommodating and really did go above and beyond to make sure that I had a great stay.

    Would definitely recommend it.

  • Our stay with Rowan and her lovely family was our Christmas gift to each other. We've traveled extensively and have enjoyed many unique accommodations throughout the world. Our stay with the Cozens was the find of this decade. Godfrey, Sylvia, Emily, Rowan et al. were warm and welcoming but never imposing. The house is absolutely amazing—immaculately clean and in a perfect location. We walked into town, leaving our car in their off-street parking. Jessie, possibly the most adorable dog ever, didn't give us as much of her time as we would have liked, but there will be a next time! We plan to use Airbnb again based solely on our experience with the Cozens.

    Response from Rowan:

Thank you Holly, it was our pleasure to have you and Egils in the house and we were so touched to be chosen for a Christmas present - you're welcome back anytime. Happy New Year to you both!
