With your own access through the garage, it affords you quiet and privacy in the heart of Portland's downtown Pearl District (NW side). Breakfast or brunch on the weekend is available, for example, at any of a dozen places nearby. Three city parks are within six to eight short Portland blocks. In our vicinity are a 24 Hour Fitness, the Pacific Northwest College of Art, shops, condos and townhouses. The neighborhood consists of rehabbed industrial and commercial buildings along with new construction.
Our courtyard is a lovely location to sip coffee or tea you prepare in your room or wine that you store in the room's refrigerator. The room has a queen bed, a desk, and club chairs in a sitting area. You can come and go as you wish through the garage into the courtyard rather than the main house. Interaction with Guests
We greet guests when they arrive and typically see them off. Access to their suite through the garage is private so we see them if we're passing through at the same time. Otherwise, we respect the privacy of our guests but we welcome them to visit us in the main house if they see the lights on. We are present during our guest's stay and are accessible by email, text, and phone. We have a glass of wine or a meal together if the guests are interested and available.
The Pearl District is a reconstructed industrial area, close to downtown Portland. Old buildings have been renovated. New ones have been built. It is well-planned with multiple parks. It has become a destination area for shopping, eating, and wandering.
Easy access to public transit through the street car, light rail, buses and taxis.
You will have private access through the garage into the courtyard, up a flight of stairs to the suite. Come and go as you please. Out of respect for our town home's neighbors, please refrain from loud noises before 9:00 AM and after 10 PM. Minimum stay of two nights. Use the small refrigerator, coffee, and hot pot in the suite but do not cook there. Our friendly dog and cat are in the separate main house and rarely enter the suite. No smoking in the suite, courtyard, or garage.
Steven made us feel entirely at home. We arrived very, very late due to a delay in our flight and he waited up for us and took time to give us all the information we needed for our stay. He told us to call or knock on their door if there was anything we needed or if we needed information about Portland in general. The apartment was just as described and very comfortable for our purposes. We loved the neighborhood we were in. It was very easy to walk to wherever we wanted and there are a variety of restaurants in the area. The information sheet that he sent ahead of time was helpful in getting to know the area and gave good suggestions of places to visit and to eat. We had a rental car and were able to park it in their garage during our stay and come and go with it as we wanted. Thank you!!
We had a wonderful time in the Pearl District Suite. Steve adjusted his schedule to make sure to give us a warm welcome, complete with freshly baked cookies and lots of great recommendations for the area. One of the best parts of this listing is the privacy- it was a welcome relaxation point for our long weekend in Portland. Special points for the cozy bed, natural light, and lovely photography throughout the suite and bathroom. Thank you Steve and family, for a beautiful weekend!
Steven was a wonderful host and provided us with much information about the Pearl District. The place was clean and comfortable and it had a delightful patio to sit out and enjoy and cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Very quiet and a close walk to everything. Loved the place and would definitely stay here again.
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Pearl District Suite over Memorial Day weekend. It is as clean, elegant, spacious and comfortable as the photos show. What you can't see is the special care taken by Steven to be the perfect host. He provided excellent guidance with a personally-written guide to Portland and the Pearl District even prior to our visit. He met us upon our arrival, and spent quite a bit of time giving us recommendations based on our interests. We had two massive gourmet cookies awaiting us en-suite, and each morning made ourselves delicious coffee with the gourmet coffee provided. The location is central to many restaurants and coffee shops. We did morning yoga each day at Yoga Pearl, only a few blocks away. For the last few days, we rented bikes - a highly recommended way to get around Portland if you like to bike, it feels very safe. We were able to store the bikes safely in the garage at night. The suite has a private entrance through the garage, and one side of the room faces the a lovely secret courtyard garden. I was entranced by the elegant red-leaved Japanese maple, fuschia, and fragrant vines. I would recommend the suite to anyone visiting Portland. We hope to come back.
Steve was waiting for us, and explained all the necessary things for us to enjoy our stay in Portland. Especially helpful was a list of restaurants and things to do.
Steve and Donna's space was perfect for our time in Portland. My husband and I were greeted by Steve (who was very accommodating with our arrival time) who then showed us the space and gave us and great run-down of the neighborhood. There was a great list of activities, restaurants and bars in the area that helped us plan out or day, as well as plenty of guidebooks and magazines. The bed was very comfortable and the space was perfect for two people. The best part of it was the location - couldn't have asked for a better location! Would definitely recommend!
About the Host, Steven
Originally from the East Coast, we have been in Oregon for 35 years, Portland for over ten of those. We enjoy Portland's cultural and culinary attractions, as well as hiking in the Northwest, especially with our dog, and traveling. We are happy to serve as hosts that welcome you and bid you farewell, or, because we like meeting people, to assist or guide you during your stay.
