Interaction with Guests
My work schedule varies so my interaction will vary depending on my availability. If you want privacy-it's yours. If you'd like to pick my brain about the best places to eat, drink, visit, or just hang out I'd be happy to offer my best suggestions.
I love this neighborhood! It has a small town vibe with big city attractions. You can walk to Whole Foods or a local coffee shop and run into a bunch of friends or you can enjoy great restaurants, museums, concerts, and major events just a few blocks away. The street is quiet at night but night life is a quick walk or cab ride away. Center City is easy to get to via public transportation and there are great places to walk, hike, or cycle nearby.
There are numerous ways to get around. The No. 33 bus stop is less than a block away and takes you into the heart of Center City, Philadelphia. The subway is 5 blocks away and takes you North and South on the Broad St Line which connects you to routes all over the city. Cabs are easy to access and the whole area is wonderfully walkable.
Other Things to Note
The space is also a yoga/fitness studio so there may be times when the space is being used for classes. Feel free to contact me for more specific scheduling information. Guests will have access to a common area when classes are in session or can enjoy some of the many great activities nearby.
Smoking is not allowed in the studio. No pets are allowed without prior approval. I want my guests to relax and enjoy themselves but would request that they leave the place as they found it and take care of it as if it were their own home.
I would strongly recommand to stay at Valerie's for a trip to Philadelphia. After a 12 hours trip from Quebec, we were welcomed by Valerie with fresh fruits and bars. She was very flexible with our time of arrival and the studio was just perfect! The location can't be better: we left our car at the studio and walk/take the bus to every attraction that we wanted to visit.
We'll definitely come back the next time we come to Philly!
Valerie was very nice and pleasant to deal with. The room was very nice and clean, quite spacious I might add. The location was most conveniently located. Valerie was helpful in helping us plan our visit. It was a comfortable and charming stay.
My experience in Valerie's place was great. It was immaculately clean, spacious and very cute. It's in perfect location within the Fairmount area and I was able to walk to the museums and explore the whole neighborhood. Valerie's friend Karen made us feel right at home and both her and Valerie were easy to be in contact with. They were able to work around our arrival/check-in time. All-in-all, very friendly stay and quite comfortable! Definitely recommend. Only thing I would suggest is a coffee maker :-)
I loved "Studio B." Spacious, cool, and welcoming. Quiet. The photo represents it well. The air bed, which Valerie takes down and puts up again quickly when there's a class, was comfortable and could be adjusted if needed. Everything worked well—fans, TV, A/C, fridge, the small but clean bathroom and shower room. I stowed and locked my stuff away only twice in eight days, to make room for a class. No hardship, as there is plenty to do in this wonderful, walkable Philly neighborhood!
When we arrived, we were met with a beautiful bowl of fruit, water, and protein shakes! Written directions to the neartest attractions and nearby restaurants made our stay in Philadelphia a memorable one. Can't wait to come back!
Valerie is a wonderful hostess to provide us the place to stay. She allowed us to bring our bikes in that room. The Place where we stayed was really cool. we would go again and stay at her place. Its very easy to go to Philly Downtown! Thanks.

About the Host, Valerie
I'm a yoga, dance, and fitness instructor and I've lived in the Philadelphia Art Museum Area for over 25 years. I love this neighborhood because it is it in the heart of the city's favorite attractions but still has a neighborhood feel. I love to walk or bike in Fairmount Park, enjoy the many restaurants within 5 blocks (This city has really great food!), traveling, meeting all kinds of people, listening to live jazz, etc. I enjoy meeting different people and hearing about their experiences, professions and travels. I have a 2 friendly cats that you might meet but will never be in your space so allergies are not an issue. If you happen to love yoga, fitness, or belly dance classes you might find time to take a class right here at the Studio. Feel free to stop in, stretch out and enjoy your stay in Philadelphia- looking forward to meeting you!
