About this listing
Walk 1 mile to the stadium or campus from our 2 bedroom 1.5 bath apartment in a quiet neighborhood with parks. New furniture, new carpet and WiFi. Washer/dryer in unit. Full kitchen. Large flat screen TV with Sony DVD player. Free & easy parking. Sleeps 6.
Quiet safe area close to the Big House. Plenty of room for my 2 adult daughters, my wife and I. I received the keys by mail well on advance. I would definitely stay again
Josh was a very helpful host. He helped walk me through the process since this was my first time using airbnb. The place was just what we were looking for during our stay over the weekend. It was a nice place and within walking distance to the campus. I highly recommend staying here.
Place was nicely kept, in a little apartment/condo community off South Industrial. Super close to Michigan Stadium and walkable but not ideal to central campus (about 15-20min walk). Josh was very helpful and responsive to all my inquiries, and provided a PDF with relevant info/instructions beforehand. Towels/bedding/other essentials provided, but future renters may want to bring their own ice/cups. Overall great experience.
A group of 6 of us (alumni from Michigan) get together for a reunion each year. We stayed at this apartment for a Friday-Sunday stay (2 nights) in the Fall of 2014.
The location of the apartment was ~20 minute walk to the stadium and located in a large apartment complex (not situated amongst the houses in Ann Arbor). The apartment was large enough for 6 people (the max) to stay in, but it should be mentioned, it was a very "bare essentials" type of place. No frills --- which was not what we were expecting, but still a little surprising. For example, there were 6 plates, 6 glasses, 6 bowls, etc. So if you have 6 people, you better assign plate/glassware to everyone from the start of the weekend and expect to wash your items throughout the weekend. So overall we were disappointed by the lack of general items you would expect there to be (such as salt & pepper --- there was salt, but no pepper). W expected a larger skillet in order to cook breakfast --- there was a very small skillet and pot available --- but very difficult to cook anything in). As mentioned, we would have expected more plate/glassware (especially glasses) than 6. I would also suggest having wine glasses --- very standard. Hotels have wine glasses. In addition, there were no oven mits which was surprising --- despite having cookie sheets. It should also be mentioned that there was personal food in the fridge and personal items in the apartment --- we found this strange.
Our biggest suggestion is to provide more thorough instructions to guests. For example, we did not know what to do with our trash (but I texted Josh and he was very responsive to tell us to throw the bags in the dumpster in the parking lot). I did appreciate Josh's responsiveness. Other questions - where to find the dishwasher soap, should we have put the towels in the washer?, etc.).
The biggest issue was how to return the apartment keys, as Josh wanted us to mail them back to him. We thought this was very strange, but agreed to the process. I asked for instructions on how to mail them back - any specific instructions, and he said "No - just regular mail.". Well I found out that the envelope with the keys in it returned to him empty (with a hole in it). This was exactly my fear --- putting two large keys in an envelope and having it process through the mail. Josh said we may have to pay a fee for this. Absolutely not. This was last straw for our group. For this reason, and the above inconveniences, we will not return, and we do not recommend staying at this property.
Overall - actual apartment - fine. Host - improvements are needed. The good thing is that instructions to future guests and process improvements can take place to make this an enjoyable stay in the future.
Josh was a fantastic host. He was easy to coordinate with prior to our stay. The house was perfect for a girls weekend in Ann Arbor. A quick drive into campus and close to the stadium. The house was clean and had everything we needed for the weekend.
Josh was a great host. Good communication, spacious apartment, excellent location (10 min walk to the Big House, 40 min walk downtown) perfect for the Winter Classic. Thanks for everything.
Josh was incredibly helpful and professional. He provided us with a wonderful place to stay. It was very clean and spacious - exactly what we needed! I would recommend Josh's apartment to stay in the future. We were all very pleased.
