There is a map in every room to help you navigate the local neighborhood:
You must go down to king street and the waterfront, and check out our timeline in the breezeway by the historic waterfront, you can roam the same streets George Washington used to travel by :) There are also many amazing shops and restaurants (too many to mention really) so please window shop to your hearts content :) The King street Trolley is free, the stop nearest the house is the Fayette street stop , I usually walk down to the waterfront, and catch the trolley back (since it waits by the waterfront , and has heat and ac) :) We also have a great farmers market in front of City hall every Saturday morning from 7am-Noon at 301 King street.
Trader Joes (for groceries) is just 7 blocks away, northeast at the corner of Asaph and Pendleton, you do get full kitchen privileges, but please don't experiment in my kitchen, and do not use metal utensils on my non-stick pans. You must rinse all dishes, and place them in the dishwasher. There is a fire extinguisher below the guest map ... just in case :)

Extras: Bikes ! : Old Town Alexandria was named a "Bicycle Friendly Community" by the League of American Bicyclists, soI have bought 3 Trek Bikes (21 speed hybrid mountain/road bikes) for my guests to use.. They are decent quality bikes, but not too extravagant, I have some generic helmets, water bottles, and locks for the bikes, the guests who have used them have enjoyed the experience :)
Very clean home, very comfortable bed, and very diligent host. Will made sure I had all the information I needed to check in, and maintained good communication.
My husband and I needed a place to stay while we were in town for Thanksgiving. Will has a wonderful home and was incredibly helpful in making sure we settled in well (there were fresh-baked cookies!) and had a great stay. The room was very comfortable, clean and we would absolutely come back again!
Muchas gracias!
The room was very comfortable. Will is a friendly host, and his cookies are yummy! I appreciated his promptness in answering our questions before we got there. Location is super--just walking around the historic neighborhood is wonderful.
Back home again, yet felt like I never left home staying at Will's.
The accommodations were exactly as described and the location-WOW can you say user friendly. The bike's were a big plus for biking the Mt. Vernon Trail and downtown DC, keep in mind there are hours you can catch the 5 block away Metro in off hours and take a bicycle stroll through the Lincoln Mall.
Before you can say Old Town walk your there and headed for the Harbor boardwalk.
Needless to say One big Nebraska thank you and hope to stay again.
What an excellent host and place to stay. Great location, clean, lots of details from food and all utensil needs in the kitchen, bath care products, extra plug outlets for well connected quests, comfortable bed and a place to put everything. My highest recommendation. I will stay here again.
Really enjoyed my stay at Will's place. The suite was very nice, like a hotel room, with IKEA style furniture and a flat screen TV. Bedding was nice and the room was very clean. Enjoyed chatting with Will, and he was also very respectful of my privacy.
The location in Alexandria is great, close to Old Town and only a few blocks from the Braddock Rd metro (just one stop from National Airport).
This unit is a little gem in Old Town Alexandria. The whole place is set up travellers and the Van Gough we stayed in was perfect to rest up overnight! The bathroom was spotless and the kitchen downstairs was equipped with everything you need. It was a bonus to also have access to a washing machine and dryer. Will also put on a BBQ for his guest which was fantastic. If you need a place close to DC this makes a great choice. Will's map of the world is a great talking point and was good to put a Perth & Geraldton guests from West Australia on the board. Enjoy your stay.
Will's place was perfect in every way. Having dragged a heavy suitcase from Dulles airport to his house on the Metro in the rush hour, being greeted by a 76 mustang outside, beer in the fridge and jazz on the radio was a semi-religious experience.
The freshly baked cookies, dangerously comfortable bed and one-touch netflix certainly didn't hurt either (yeah you're gonna have to make those cookies every time now Will).
Neither did the location - prime for trips into DC and walks into Old Town Alexandria. Moreover, the lady in the laundrette across the road is quite charming.
In short, Will - and his house - made my trip. You couldn't pay me to stay in a hotel in the same zip code (if he had space. Otherwise I'm open to offers).
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
