The space
Imagine waking up to the aroma of fresh-baked goods wafting upstairs from the 1st floor bakery. We welcome you to “Sleep Sweet on Cherokee Street”, a fully-renovated apartment located above our daughter’s sustainable bakeshop, Whisk, whose motto is to “Eat Sweet on Cherokee Street”.
You will be greeted by a bottle of wine, a gift certificate to Whisk, a snack basket and bottled water.

The building is 130 years old and was originally built as a doctor’s office and residence. Over the past 18 months, the building has been lovingly renovated from what was once a chopped-up, cookie-cutter apartment to a contemporary, open loft space. Renovation included significant exterior masonry reconstruction, cornice replacement, new roof, new HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems, and full interior gutting and re-building, complete with a reclaimed, quarter-sawn white pine floor (sourced from a 125 year-old church from Adair, IL).

The 1,200 square foot space is open, bright, colorful and cheerful, with plenty of natural light coming from 10 8-foot windows.
• The kitchen is fully stocked with all new designer appliances, including stainless steel refrigerator (with ice and water dispenser), range/cooktop, dishwasher, microwave and disposal. There is also a washer and dryer in a separate utility room for your use.
• The main living area contains comfortable and contemporary furnishings and artwork. It also has a 60” LED flat-screen smart TV with cable and premium channels (HBO, Showtime and Cinemax) as well as access to Netflix, Amazon Prime and other subscriber-based streaming services (subscriber membership required).
• The separate bedroom boasts a king-size bed with pillow-top mattress, with luxury linens for a heavenly night’s sleep, dresser and small work desk (in the event you have to work while you’re here!). There is also ample closet space in the bedroom and a 40” LED flat-screen smart TV. The full bath includes a shower/tub combination and contemporary art glass vessel sink.

You will have access to a private patio.

The apartment comes equipped with high-speed internet and wireless throughout (both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz).

If you explore even further, you’ll find one of the most vibrant and upcoming areas of St. Louis, boasting a wide variety of ethnic restaurants and shops, boutiques and specialty shops, bars, art galleries and other small businesses. Cherokee Street is considered the new “hipster” neighborhood in St. Louis where young entrepreneurs and start-ups are turning their dreams into reality.

My wife Linda and I live in St. Louis, MO and are hoping to start doing much more traveling than time would allow us in the past. I've heard nothing but great things about airbnb from many friends and decided it was time to take the plunge! I'm a retired beer industry retail consultant (and what a fun industry it was!) and my wife is a retired teacher. I'm currently a retail management consultant and my wife does part-time teaching (Art), tutoring and paints in our studio. We spent our first 10 years of marriage rehabbing a 130 year old house in one of the oldest historic districts in St. Louis ... and have been enjoying it ever since. I'm an avid photographer who loves to dabble in black and white film (with full darkroom processing, etc). Also enjoy cycling, music, gardening and not working the 60 - 70 hour/week grind. My wife and I have also recently posted a listing on this site and hope to share the fun that we've been able to enjoy ... by hosting others at our recently renovated 1 bedroom apartment on Cherokee Street, in a very hipster part of St. Louis.
