About this listing
Years ago in the early 19th Century some people's homes had a room, typically with it's own separate entrance in which folks passing through had a comfortable place to rest for an evening or short stay. This room was known as the "traveler's room" or "traveler's quarters". Come and stay in the "travelers quarters" at Midlane Farm. Adjoined but separate from the main house your quarters is quiet and cozy, appointed with antiques including a 200 year old cannonball bed (don't worry it's sturdy), a small but efficient bathroom and a television. Relax on the back porch with an iced tea or julep and dream of days gone by, stroll the garden (organic) and grounds, cook from the garden if you wish in the modern main kitchen, sit and watch your favorite TV program or read a book in the "lower kitchen" (which some have deemed the best single room in the city of Louisville), enjoy complementary Bourbon or cocktails. The bar at Midlane Farm is always open and always well stocked! Hospitality would not be complete without towels, linens, and breakfast. If you need room for more than two no problem. You can stay in the main house and we'll move to the traveler's quarters! Please contact us first though to ensure that we don't have any conflicts. The main house (Midlane Farm 1820 Federal Home) can easily host six, but also rents individual rooms. Let us share our passion for the preservation of this "grand ole dame" with you. Sleep tight at your old Kentucky home. Good night.........
The Traveler's Quarters is your space. Common areas are the outside 2 acres, back porch, lower kitchen and main kitchen. Smoking is permitted outside only.
Great host, awesome place. Quiet even though it is near a main road. Ample parking for vehicles. Breakfast was a great home cooked meal. I would recommend this travelers room to anyone coming to Louisville. This was my first airbnb stay, I hope all of my airbnb stays are this great.
They were able to accommodate us on short notice and were extremely polite despite our late evening arrival. Thanks for asking about dietary restrictions and offering is delicious whiskey! We would gladly stay again while driving through Kentucky!! Their home is beautiful, historic, and the room is private with its own external entry. Highly recommend Midlane Farm.
These are first rate people with a lovely home: they are the perfect blend of genuinely friendly and charmingly professional. I was in Louisville for my surgery on my dog, my best friend. Kim and Chas treated me like family. The room was cozy and quiet and clean. The house itself is a splendor. Can't wait to go back under less stressful circumstances, but so glad I made the choice to stay with them.
In fact, they opened their house to me, offering me a drink, free reign in the kitchen, whatever I needed to feel comfortable: what I needed was a nice evening of pleasant talk on the porch, and I got that in fine fashion. Kim made me a wonderful breakfast the next morning and told me to feel free to come back while my dog was in surgery if I just needed to chill out. I can't imagine better hosts.
Our stay at Midlane could not have been better. Our hosts, Kim and Chas were warm, welcoming, and very hospitable. The grounds, house, and traveler's quarters were beautiful, and we were delighted to find out that the nearly 200 year old house is one of the oldest houses in Kentucky still owned by the same family.
The traveler's quarters were very comfortable and stayed nice and cool (it was 100 degrees in KY). The common area has a treasure trove of interesting artifacts and photos from the estate, which gave you a sense of where you were. Also, a great wet bar.
And to boot, Kim and Chas could not have been better hosts. They were the type of people who feel like long lost relatives, and it was an absolute pleasure sharing many conversations with them. Kim really knows how to make a great breakfast (sourced with vegetables from their impressive garden) and Chas is a lifelong area resident who knows all the best places to visit in the Louisville area.
We can't wait to go back and stay with them again! Easily the best Air B & B experience we've had yet.
I could not have asked for a better AirBnB experience! Chas and Kim were the warmest and most hospital hosts you could hope for, and I felt very much at home with them and at their place; less like I was a guest and more like I was an old friend. They were very accommodating even though I made my reservation at the last minute, which was greatly appreciated, and really provided a wonderful experience. Their home and grounds are stunning and the bedroom I stayed in was quite comfortable. I would not hesitate to book again and next time for longer!
One of the best airbnb experience we have ever had! A great house and even better hosts. Had an amazing time sitting on the porch and drinking/eating with them. The hosts are some of the most generous and hospitable people I've met. The room is great and even better in person than the photos show and the bed is super comfortable.
Chaz and Kim made us feel very welcome. I almost forgot we were complete strangers the first night we were there. Their hospitality was very warm and friendly with a hint of Kentucky charm! Their house is rich with family history and very beautiful! They cooked breakfast and used vegitables straight from their garden and it was delicious. They made us feel like family. They helped make my birthday one I won't forget! The Bloody Mary rocked and I had my first taste of Kentucky bourbon (yum). We will definitely visit Midlane Farm again. We loved the Travelers Quarters. Thanks again for a memorable weekend!!
