Description

Years ago in the early 19th Century some people's homes had a room, typically with it's own separate entrance in which folks passing through had a comfortable place to rest for an evening or short stay. This room was known as the "traveler's room" or "traveler's quarters". Come and stay in the "travelers quarters" at Midlane Farm. Adjoined but separate from the main house your quarters is quiet and cozy, appointed with antiques including a 200 year old cannonball bed (don't worry it's sturdy), a small but efficient bathroom and a television. Relax on the back porch with an iced tea or julep and dream of days gone by, stroll the garden (organic) and grounds, cook from the garden if you wish in the modern main kitchen, sit and watch your favorite TV program or read a book in the "lower kitchen" (which some have deemed the best single room in the city of Louisville), enjoy complementary Bourbon or cocktails. The bar at Midlane Farm is always open and always well stocked! Hospitality would not be complete without towels, linens, and breakfast. If you need room for more than two no problem. You can stay in the main house and we'll move to the traveler's quarters! Please contact us first though to ensure that we don't have any conflicts. The main house (Midlane Farm 1820 Federal Home) can easily host six, but also rents individual rooms. Let us share our passion for the preservation of this "grand ole dame" with you. Sleep tight at your old Kentucky home. Good night.........

Kim and Chas are great owners. The grounds are very-well maintained and the room was exactly what we needed. We will definitely be returning to this oasis in the city.

Kim and Chas were fantastic and so welcoming! My boyfriend and I got engaged while we were visiting Louisville and this was a perfect spot to stay on our romantic weekend. The travelers room and common spaces were beautiful and charming, as well as the rest of the house! We loved that they went the extra mile to make our stay fabulous from the breakfast to sampling from their Bourbon bar. Their cat, Texas, was very sweet and we enjoyed his company while outside.

Positively charming in every way! My husband and I stayed at Midlane Farm for a weekend and absolutely loved it. Kim and Chas were wonderful hosts, and the accommodations were lovely. Plus, Kim's breakfasts were delicious. We felt like we stumbled upon a treasure here in Louisville!

I don't know what we can add beyond what's already been said, other than to say it's all true! Beautiful house, gracious hosts, charming cozy lounge with warm fireplace and historic decor, tasty bourbon, delicious homemade breakfast, Louisville tips and history, couldn't have asked for more. Looking forward to our next visit!

Midlane Farm was truly stepping back into a quieter, gentler time. Though situated not far from the hustle, bustle of Louisville, one certainly didnot notice it. You could take a breath, hear the breeze rustle the magnolia leaves,- just take in the ambience of the well kept 1820 historic home. I truly expected our lovely hostess, Kim, to be dressed accordingly! (Now, there is an idea, Ms Kim!) She greeted us so warmly on our arrival, making us feel welcome in her home immediately. Our room was lovely, perfectly appointed with era antiques, yet modern amenities easily accessible. The room, as described on the site, is off from the main house so you have your own private sanctuary! A true traveler's rest place! We slept so well! A delicious breakfast was prepared and served by our hostess in the main house. We did have the opportunity to meet our host, Chas, as well. I delighted in hearing of the home's history. We honestly felt that we were visiting with friends rather than staying as guests! Kim and Chas provide a lovely opportunity to stay in true "old Louisville". Southern charm lives on!

Midlane Farm User ProfileMidlane Farm is a superhost.

Chas and Kim Laramore-Stephens are owners/caretakers of Chas' family home "Midlane Farm" built in 1820 and never out of the immediate family. Working on the home be it inside or out are the passions of Chas and Kim. Tending the vegetable and flower gardens and consuming and sharing the fruits of their labor gives the couple much pride and happiness. Both professionals Chas and Kim have other jobs as well. They own and manage a local distribution company of consumable paper and packaging products. Kim's hobbies are all that is southern, hailing from Mississippi and Georgia she cherishes the southern lifestyle of hospitality and graciousness. When not working on the "farm" Chas is a competitive sailor racing sailboats wherever the competition takes him.
