Years ago in the early 19th Century some people's homes had a room, typically with it's own separate entrance in which folks passing through had a comfortable place to rest for an evening or short stay. This room was known as the "traveler's room" or "traveler's quarters". Come and stay in the "travelers quarters" at Midlane Farm. Adjoined but separate from the main house your quarters is quiet and cozy, appointed with antiques including a 200 year old cannonball bed (don't worry it's sturdy), a small but efficient bathroom and a television. Relax on the back porch with an iced tea or julep and dream of days gone by, stroll the garden (organic) and grounds, cook from the garden if you wish in the modern main kitchen, sit and watch your favorite TV program or read a book in the "lower kitchen" (which some have deemed the best single room in the city of Louisville), enjoy complementary Bourbon or cocktails. The bar at Midlane Farm is always open and always well stocked! Hospitality would not be complete without towels, linens, and breakfast. If you need room for more than two no problem. You can stay in the main house and we'll move to the traveler's quarters! Please contact us first though to ensure that we don't have any conflicts. The main house (Midlane Farm 1820 Federal Home) can easily host six, but also rents individual rooms. Let us share our passion for the preservation of this "grand ole dame" with you. Sleep tight at your old Kentucky home. Good night.........
The Traveler's Quarters is your space. Common areas are the outside 2 acres, back porch, lower kitchen and main kitchen. Smoking is permitted outside only.
This historic, lovely home must have been the subject for composing "My Old Kentucky Home" because my husband & I felt very much welcomed and at home at Midlane Farm. Kim & Chas offered us cocktails and time to unwind after the long drive. Breakfasts were delicious both days, plus the breakfast conversations were friendly and informative about the area. We were in town for a wedding, staying at Midlane Farm was well worth skipping the hotel reserved for guests. Definitely recommend reserving this establishment.
We rented the Midlane Farms' travelers quarters for my brother and his family to stay in while the rest of our large family stayed in the main house. It was absolutely perfect for them. It had a great bed, adorable coffee set up, and a full bathroom! We were able to actually all visit together instead of having to only see them for a few hours at the wedding. The farm itself is a dream. From the incredible 1820s home to the beautiful garden and the hard to leave porch, it was perfect for our family to enjoy a weekend together without having to leave the home... other than for the wedding of course.
Midlane Farms was a wonderful, cozy experience! Chas & Kim were friendly and very accommodating to me. I had booked the Travelers Quarters for my husband and I, to start his birthday weekend~! Before I knew it, I had more friends coming to Louisville from Chicago throughout the weekend. We were able to book the Farm and to schedule our friends without any issues. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. The Travelers Quarters was so peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
1st time doing airbnb for us. Enjoyed our stay. Good location. Unique place to stay. Solid couple in Chaz and Kim
Midlane Farm was a fantastic stay for us, and we look forward to returning again. Our hosts were very warm and considerate. They built a roaring fire for us in the adjoining den, and offered us a sample of their extensive bourbon collection. This was an amazing experience that we will always remember fondly.
If you are looking for the best place to stay in Louisville, this is probably it. Chas went out of his way to make us feel at home! Kim was out of town & she even called & emailed to check in with us & chat. Even their fur children, Rufus & Rosie, welcomed us like family. Absolutely beautiful historic home/grounds & extremely comfortable. The location is close to various shops & restaurants & even close to downtown. We can't really think of anything that would have made our stay any better. The problem was that we were only able to stay one night! :) Absolutely stay here!
Kim and Chas have clearly raised the bar for the Airbnb experience. Although I stayed in the winter, and the photos are all from lovely summer weather, I had the great enjoyment, comfort and aroma of a real fireplace, which was perfect during the extremely cold weather we had. Being made to feel welcome is one thing, but feeling as if you're part of the family is another, and I applaud them on achieving this experience for their visitors.
Because of the extreme cold, I actually stayed in the main house, not the Travelers' Quarters, but I would have been happy in either one. If you're in the Louisville area, you won't go wrong to stay with Kim and Chas, and their lovely dogs Rosie, Rufus and cat Beauregard.
