Sinead took fantastic care of us while at the cottage during our month stay while working remotely! We only had 2 small issues while at the cottage (#8). The internet connection was sometimes intermittent, or very slow. We ended up just getting a couple mobile WiFi hotspots so we didn't have to worry about it. The other was the heater in the bathroom didn't work, but the Oysterhaven Centre crew had it fixed in short order!
We really loved staying there, it has a beautiful view over Oysterhaven Bay. It's less than a 15 minute ride into the lovely town of Kinsale, which we absolutely loved to visit! There's a huge grocery store we found Supervalu which has everything you could possibly need. We also enjoyed The White House in Kinsale for live music, food, and drinks. Also a motor boat hire out of kinsale for a half day made a fantastic birthday gift for myself. You can boat around and see a lot of the coast in the area, including boating back to see Oysterhaven from the water!
The activities offered at the centre are a fantastic deal that you should absolutely take part in. I wish I had sooner, but I waited until my last week there to do so. But I did windsurfing and dinghy sailing beginner courses with an instructor. Both instructors were fabulous, and were very patient and knowledgeable in getting me going for my first time at both activities.
Overall we truly enjoyed our stay, and would highly recommend staying at the cottages. All the staff are very friendly and it was a true pleasure to stay there! And we didn't realize it until we booked, but there's also a real fireplace in the cottage! It was great to build a fire and the ambiance it created on the few chilly days/nights while we were there.
What a great place to stay - beautiful setting, plenty of room, nice hosts. We were very lucky with the weather, hosts were very accommodating when we were after BBQ facilities - adventure centre looks great - will definitely recommend and will definitely revisit :)
Couldn't stay as family member took ill. I mailed and called Oysterhaven, disappointed no courtesy callback from Sinéad or anybody. I wasn't necessarily expecting a refund as I have no notice but a response would have been nice considering we paid but didn't stay. Place looks beautiful but can't comment other than the above.
Sinead was great. She greeted us, took us to the cottage and made sure all was well. She was accessible during our entire stay. Oysterhaven is close to Kinsale - a 10-15 minute drive. If serenity, quiet, beautiful views and a night sky that Van Gogh would love then this is the place. The cottage had all we needed and then some. It was a great place to use as our home base for some family history search in west cork.
It is a lovely, remote setting. The hostess made a solid effort to ensure a comfortable stay, especially as it was off season. A good value
I stayed for a week in one of the cottages and loved it. The area is remote, quiet and beautiful but only a short drive from the Cork city and Kinsale. Sinead was very helpful in providing directions and preparing the cottage for a late arrival. Definitely recommend and I would gladly return.
