Elwood, Nebraska, United States

EAGLES, EAGLES, EAGLES! Bald eagles can be seen year round across the state of Nebraska. However, winter and early spring is the best time of year to see numbers of Bald Eagles. If you are interested in seeing large numbers of eagles, visit in late February or early March. We are right on the lake with ice and open water, so many eagles can be seen right here. November through January, concentrations of bald eagles can be viewed at the J-2 power plant near the lake. (URL HIDDEN)

SANDHILL CRANES: We are 62 miles from Rowe Sanctuary in rural Gibbon, Nebraska. Migration season is in March and early April along the Platte River in Central Nebraska. For more information see Rowe at: (URL HIDDEN)
