About this listing

Les Iris has 3-4 bedrooms accommodating up to 10 people with great views. Based in the French Alps and on the edge of the Portes du Soleil, one of the largest ski area’s in the world, it is ideally located for outdoor holidays all year round.

The space

Self-catering penthouse apartment Les Iris, is very large and fully equipped for up to 10 people and has great views.

With 3 bedrooms and a cubby hole, it has a combination of various sleeping arrangements.

Prices and availability:

Rental period is usually Saturday-Saturday (7 nights). Please note that the hire of bed linen is not included in the price and can be booked separately. You can find the charges for the internet below.

Depending on the season the apartment is also available for shorter lets (minimum of 3 nights) such as weekend and midweek.

Penthouse Les Iris:

The main living area is a large ‘L’ shaped room (floor area 40 m2) with a vaulted ceiling over the kitchen and dining area.

Kitchen area - fully equipped with fridge, freezer, microwave, electric hob with 4 rings , full sized electric oven/grill, dishwasher, washing machine, clothes airers, toaster, kettle, Nespresso machine and coffee machine, pots, pans, cutlery etc. Everything is provided for a convenient stay.

Dining area - table, 6 chairs & bench, normally seats 8, but can be extended to seat 12 (3 child high chairs available).

Living area – sofa bed, sofa, benches, TV & DVD player (region 2), CD & Ipod player, coffee table and assorted stools and large pillows, access to large balcony.

The sleeping arrangements are very flexible:

Bedroom 1 – family sized room (floor area 18.5 m2) with 1.9 meter long double bed (can be plit into 2 single beds) & 2 additional single beds, wardrobe, cupboards and sink, access to balcony. This room also has a screen and DVD player that can be used.

Bathroom - bath with shower, wash basin, w.c.

Bedroom 2 - family sized room (floor area 13.5 m2) with 2 meter double bed (can be split into 2 single beds) & a bunk bed, fitted wardrobe and sink.

Bedroom 3 - (floor area 7.6 m2) double bed and wardrobe.
Shower room - shower, wash basin, w.c.

Cubby Hole - cosy low roofed area with large Velux window, fitted with futon type beds (2 beds of 1.90m x 0.80m), ideal for youngster or adventurous adult.
Living area - double sofa bed.

Extra’s for the little one:

Three baby travel cots, 3 high chairs, change mat, microwave sterilizer and nappy bin are available on request, no extra charge (no linen provided).

Pillows, duvets & bed linen:

There are pillows and duvets provided. Guests are responsible for providing their own bed linen, kitchen linen and towels (sheets, duvet covers, pillow cases and towels). There are local arrangements for hiring linen and towels for €14 per person per set (please ask for more details).

Cleaning:

The key holder will provide a full clean of the apartment after your rental period. Clients are asked to leave Penthouse apartment Les Iris sweep clean at the end of the rental period.

Shopping:
You can send your shopping list and our key holder will arrange your full shop to be delivered to the apartment for just €15-€25 + the costs of the items.

Garage, parking and storage:

There is ample onsite parking and for those guests who need a large secure storage area there is the possibility of using a full sized garage. There is also a lockable ski cave for guest use.

Heating and lighting:

Les Iris is energy efficient having a very high level of insulation. In addition to the underfloor heating in the main living area, each room has an electric radiator with individual controls; this allows guests to control the temperature in their bedroom by simply turning down the radiator rather than having to open windows and doors. Energy efficient lighting is standard and the cost of the electricity is included in the weekly rental.

Food and restaurants:

Nearby in Le Biot and St. Jean d’Aulps there are bakeries, a little supermarket, more shops and eateries. For the large weekly shop, there is a large Carrefour as well as a petrol station with one of the best prices in the area on the D902 just outside St. Jean d’Aulps, between St. Jean d’Aulps and Morzine.

Internet access & wifi

There is wifi available in Penthouse Les Iris. 8-days usage vouchers can be bought through (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) and credit card at the apartment. You can connect up to 3 appliance per voucher. An unlimited amount of vouchers can be bought.

The prices for the 8-day vouchers are:
€2 for 50MB
€6 for 300MB
€12 for 650MB

Please note that the internet is through a satellite and speed can vary. Please switch off automatic back-up, app updates and synchronization before connecting with a device to the Wi-Fi.

Entertainment in Penthouse Les Iris

For the evenings or when you just fancy being at the apartment, there is a range of games available for all ages to play. There is also a good choice of DVD's and a TV where you can hook up your own game consoles and some books available for you to read.
The TV has 20+ French and many English channels and there is an extra TV screen and DVD player in the family bedroom.

Guest access

Guests have access to the full apartment including a ski-locker in the basement and a full size garage.

Please note that there are 2 locked private stores in the apartment that are not for guests use.

Interaction with guests

We welcome any questions, before, during and after your stay and will provide all information to make your stay the best possible.

There is a local key holder who can also be contacted during your stay and who will make sure that the apartment is ready for your arrival.

As we found that many guests arrived out-of-hours we have an agreed location at the apartment where the key can be collected at any time of the day/night.

If this is your preference guests can be greeted by the key holder.

Other things to note

It’s a co-operative! – Each season we stock the appartment up with tea, coffee, hot-chocolate, salt, pepper, herbs, spices, some food, toilet paper, dishwasher tablets and cleaning products – please, help yourself! All we ask is that if you use the last of something, can you replace it please.

Changeover days are usually Saturday but we can usually be flexible. For February holiday weeks rental is for a minimum of 6 nights.

The rental is for the full apartment including the garage. Two storage cupboards are excluded and are for owners private use.

The apartment will be ready to take over after 4pm on the afternoon of your booking/arrival and guests are expected to vacate Les Iris by 10am. A full final clean is included in the rental fee. If the apartment and the keyholder are available, arrangements can be made to arrive earlier / leave later.

Pack loads of humor and have fun during your stay!

The building rules forbid the wearing of ski boots in the building and storage of skis in any of the apartments. Guests are therefore asked to leave skis and snowboards etc in the ski locker or garage and not to wear skis or walking boots in the building or apartment.

Large, comfortable, very well equipped appartement. Very quiet and beautiful surroundings. In close proximity to the wonderful Portes du Soleil, St Jean d'Aulps reachable by car in 15 mins and Ardent (Avoriaz) in 25 mins. Suitable for 2 families or a large family/group. The cubby hole is nice and cosy, and has good sleeping arrangements, but no standing room. Our host answered all our questions promptly, and the key lock was very convenient. Highly recommended!

We just ended our family holiday at Les Iris and have only good words to say about the apartment and Judith. Wonderfully situated at the top of a beautiful pass with pristine Alpine views, the apartment is spacious, clean and tidy, and most importantly - kitted to perfection. Everything you can think of is handy and available. As a family with three little kids, being able to rely on this was very important. Attractions and shops are only a 10 min drive away so if there is anything missing it's not a problem. Judith was extremely helpful and made sure our stay here was perfect. Thank you Judith!

Fantastic apartment with loads of space and really well stocked kitchen. Warm and homely. We had a problem with the hot water, but help was arranged within 15 minutes and it was fixed, which was great. Also really liked the cooperative food arrangements and the temporary boulangerie from 8-10 every morning at the bottom of the complex. About 25-30 mins in car, we found, to Morzine. Very flexible arrival and departure arrangements - we arrived at midnight and left at 5am with no problem. Interesting village - looks like it got a large investment to make a new ski resort a few years back but didn't work out - big apartment blocks remain but no ski lifts. Only gripe was that satellite broadband costs a load with children.

Large, comfortable, very well equipped chalet. Very quiet and beautiful surrounding. Very welcoming and helpful host! We had a great time there. In winter time you might need snow chains to get there but we were lucky and traveled without them safely.

The place we stayed at was a penthouse on the 3rd floor with a beautiful view of the surrounding hills. It was very spacious and fully equipped with all the amenities. We had a very comfortable stay in this place. Although, one shortcoming was the internet. You have to buy the internet at this place and the price is pretty steep. Apart from this, the place exceeded expectations.

We loved our stay in 'Penthouse Les Iris'.Our kids enjoyed a lot in the house and outside.Also the view from the balcony of the house is extremely (URL HIDDEN) is a very good place for a vacation.There are all equipment needed in a house.Judith and the key holder helped us a lot through many situations. The only problem we faced is the WiFi ,because it was very much expensive. I ensure that you and your family will enjoy a lot in Penthouse Les Iris.

We are an Anglo-Dutch couple who have a passion for this wonderful family friendly resort in the Rhone-Alpes. We are regular visitors to Drouzin le Mont, visiting throughout the year and enjoying the wide range of activities on offer, particularly skiing, climbing and Via Ferrata.

Penthouse Les Iris was purchased off plan in August 2004 and completed in July 2007.

We take real pride in the quality of our accommodation and believe there should be the space and facilities that make your holiday as stress free as possible. We have designed Penthouse Les Iris so that sleeping and living arrangements are flexible to meet the needs of different groups. Wal personally planned and built the cubbyhole and he is not surprised that children really enjoy having their own special space that is not a ‘normal’ room.

Judith has strong views when it comes to cooking and feels that a fully equipped kitchen is essential when you are preparing meals for groups of more than four especially when you are on holiday. Therefore the kitchen is fully equipped to cater for up to 12 people. The dinning table can be extended to comfortably seat 12 people.

There are 3 high chairs and 3 travel cots for those with small children for no extra charge available.

We write regularly on our blog about what is happening in and around Drouzin le Mont and the Rhone-Alpes as we want others to enjoy the area as much as we do.
