The Space

Sunny studio comes with one full size bed to fit one or a couple; fully-equipped kitchen (including microwave, refrigerator, stove, oven, tea kettle, food processor, pots and pans, etc.); bathroom with tub; wireless internet; HD television with Apple TV with Hulu and Netflix subscriptions; and extensive book collection. Twin size airbed also available upon request. A/C will be installed in the summer for summertime guests.

I share my apartment with a sweet and friendly tuxedo cat--the allergic beware...! I will happily come in to clean the litter upon request--just let me know when you are out of the apartment.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the entire apartment. No smoking please, and treat my home and neighbors with respect.

Interaction with Guests

I am available by phone for travel advice, neighborhood tips, etc., but otherwise will be out of the apartment (and your hair).

The Neighborhood

Catch a concert at Barclays Center, a play or film at Brooklyn Academy of Music, or a contemporary dance performance at Mark Morris Dance Center: all are within a five-minute walk, as is New York City's beloved Brooklyn Flea. In the immediate vicinity are some of the best restaurants and bars in New York, including St. (email hidden) shop, Mile End (smoked meats and Montreal-style bagels), Rucola (Italian farm to table), Stonehome Wine Bar, Nunu Chocolates, Bacchus (French bistro), The General Greene (new American), Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare (Brooklyn's only three Michelin-starred restaurant), Krescendo (Neapolitan pizza), Bedouin Tent (inexpensive and delicious Middle Eastern) and Maimonides of Brooklyn (vegan). Trader Joe's is a short walk away. One stop away from Manhattan Chinatown and Soho for some of the best shopping in the city, and a ten-minute walk to the Transit Museum and Brooklyn Museum.

Nearby lovely Brooklyn neighborhoods include Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Prospect Heights, and Park Slope.

Getting around

Steps away from 2/3/4/5/B/D/N/Q/R and Long Island Rail Road trains at Atlantic Ave.; one stop to downtown Manhattan. LIRR trains at Atlantic Ave. are direct to Jamaica Station/AirTrain to JFK. Two avenues away from A/C/G at Hoyt-Schermerhorn. Across the street is a CitiBike station.

  • We really enjoyed our recent stay at Florence's place and would highly recommend it to anyone that is looking for an affordable, comfortable spot to be a "home-base" when visiting the Big Apple. VERY close to the subway station and many lines/destinations to choose from. The neighborhood always felt safe and we enjoyed exploring the local area as well as going into Manhattan and other areas. Congee the cat was a good housemate, too, so I wouldn't let that deter anyone from choosing to stay here :)

  • Florence was an extremely kind, responsive, and reliable host. The apartment was absolutely perfect for a long weekend stay for two people--clean and quiet and a fantastic location (we also loved her cat). We were able to explore much of Brooklyn as well as lower Manhattan very easily and found that her apartment was a great home base for our trip. If and when I visit NYC again, I will be sure to contact her :)

  • We had a great stay in Florence' appartement and highly recommend it. It is small but comfortable, clean and well equipped. And it is perfectly located to explore Brooklyn and get quickly to Manhattan. Moreover, the little cat living in the appartment is so cute! :-)
One hint we would like to give to future guests: The appartment is located at a busy street. Thus, it is a bit noisy at night due to the traffic, especially on weekdays. On the other hand, this makes getting to the appartment very safe.
Florence is a very friendly host and provided us with much information about what to do in the nearby area. Thanks Florence!

  • My girlfriend and I stayed in this cute, clean apartment for a weekend. It is conveniently located near 2 subway stations that can get you anywhere in Manhattan or Brooklyn. It also came with an adorable and friendly feline my girlfriend immediately befriended. We weren't there much, spent most of our time exploring, but when we came to rest for the night, it felt like home. We would book again.

  • I had a great stay at Florence's apartment. The place is located just steps from Atlantic Avenue and a short walk to Barclays Center. This means you can immediately take advantage of everything Atlantic has to offer (excellent food, shopping) and get to Manhattan from the Barclays stop in less than 20 minutes. There is (email hidden) across the street called "Harry's Saloon" that I recommend. Florence (email hidden) with great communication. Her place was better than the photos and her quirky cat was great company. In short, the spot is amazing and if you're lucky enough to find it free then book!

  • We had a great stay at Florence's studio during our visit to Brooklyn. It was super inviting and comfortable, with everything one needs to feel at home. Florence was (email hidden) and always responded back to our queries quickly! She left a detailed overview of restaurants and bars within walking distance. We will certainly stay again.

  • Florence was great! The apartment was terrific, as advertised and in the best location. Such a short walk from Atlantic Ave. and all it has to offer. The kitty was cool and the book selection alone (Ecce Homo, collected poems of W.H. Auden, Nicholson Baker, etc.) almost tempted us to not wander the streets of Boerum Hills. But we did, and we hope to again. Thanks, Flo!
