Welcome to this beautiful house that is two subway stops from Manhattan. The train access is better in this area than many areas in Manhattan. It is the 39th ave stop on the N/Q trains which is less than a 5 minute walk from the house.

The Space

Come to NYC and rent this entire house. The beauty of this house is it is 10 minutes from Manhattan. It has 2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, kitchen, and living and dining areas. There is a futon in the living area that can sleep 2.

Guest Access

This new large beautiful space is the top floor of a house in long island city. The entrance is large and inviting. The ceilings are 12 feet. The house is super insulated which will keep you comfortable all year long. There are two large bedrooms. One with a king size bed the other with a queen size bed. There is a futon in the living area that can fit two. The house has lots of overhead and natural light. There are brand new oak hardwood floors. The large luxurious bathroom has a separate shower stall and a classic claw foot soaking tub. The downstairs has a full kitchen, full bathroom and a living and dining area. There was lots of labor and love put into this house. The house has a modern design with Victorian, French country and Scandinavian influences.

The Neighborhood

The beauty of this quite neighborhood is its close proximity to Manhattan. It has a small town feel with it cute restaurants to try like Centraal, Cresent Grill, & Malagueta. Within minutes you are in Manhattan. There is also a keyfood supermarket 5 minutes away from the house.

Getting around

The N/Q train is a five minute walk from the house. This is the 39th ave stop which is two stops from 59th street and Lexington Ave stop. This is the Bloomingdales stop. The 7/M/R/E/F train are within walking distance.

Other Things to Note

Astoria and Long Island City are great areas to explore. There are lots of great places to eat! Check out my guidebook.

  • Jessica made sure that her father-in-law greeted us when we arrived, since she and her husband were at work. She had already answered all of the questions that we had (because of allergies, it was important that the house was pet-free), so there weren't any lingering mysteries beforehand.

The high ceilings in the upper level were a nice feature, and the newly-remodeled bathrooms are quite nice. The kitchen is also completely new and very functional.

Our family of six was cozy all week, but not cramped. Two adults might be uncomfortably close on the futon in the lower level, though. We were able to fit three kids on the king-size bed, and the largest one on the futon.

The best part about the house is the location: you really can be in Manhattan within 15 minutes of shutting the front door. We never had to wait more than about three minutes for a train. If you are planning to spend your days exploring the city via subway, you can get to Central Park, Times Square and the theater district, Penn Station, Wall Street, etc., without having to change trains.

  • Jessica and Tony were great hosts. They were extremely helpful. down to recommending a good pizza take out to calling a car for our departure to La Guardia.

  • Our host, Jessica, was kind and helpful throughout our stay. When we arrived at the rental house, Jessica immediately came out to welcome, introduce herself and gave us an in-depth tour of the house at first glance. Jessica even helped us secure a parking spot in a private parking area. The house itself is large enough to accommodate a medium-sized family. Each bedroom is moderately large and spacy enough for comfort. The bathrooms were clean and readily prepared with towels for use. All of the house was wonderful and comfortable, but the only thing I will complain about is that the house only has one air-conditioner in one bedroom, so if we were coming back from Manhattan to rest for the day, the house would be stuffy, even if we turned on the AC - all except for that one bedroom. The neighborhood is small and slightly cramped; it was mediocre in terms of looks and neighbors, but it is usually quiet. The subway station is conveniently close by, so visiting and touring Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens was easily accessible from there. I would highly recommend this house to others coming to NYC to visit.

  • Myself and five other friends spent memorial day weekend as Jess' place while participating in an ice hockey tournament. Finding a place to house six of us on a holiday weekend was a challenge and we were thrilled to have found Jess' place on Airbnb. Overall, we couldn't have been happier with our experience.

The building, bedrooms, bathrooms, etc. look exactly as they do in the pictures posted. Everything was cleaned and ready for use by the time we arrived. There was ample room to fit all of us (six adult men) without any complaints (a challenge in NYC on a budget!) Having access to a kitchen was also a real life saver as we were often pressed for time and eating out wasn't always an option.

Being from upstate, we weren't quite sure what to expect when it came to the neighborhood. Jess' place is located close to the subway and appeared very safe. No one in our group had any concerns about personal safety or the safety of our belongings. Additionally, we were quite happen to find street parking to be easy to find.

Jess herself and her husband were more than accommodating with our requests. We couldn't have asked for better hosts either!

I'd recommend anyone looking to the stay in the city to strongly considering Jess' place.

  • The pictures are accurate (WYSWYG). Simple, nice and clean. Large rooms with comfortable beds. The master bedroom has an LCD TV. The main full bathroom is newly renovated and very spacious. You have your family space in the basement: a kitchen with a large dining table seating 8 people, a sofa bed and a second bathroom. We were a family of six and there were plenty of space for all of us. A surprisingly comfortable sofa bed that fits two in the basement.

The location is perfect, only 5 mins walk (I walk fast) to the major subway lines: N,R and Q that would take you to Manhattan in less than 15 mins. The neighborhood is quiet, yet safe and close to restaurants, supermarkets and laundry.

I don't think we can get a better host for our first bnb experience. They are nice young couple and very accommodating. Her husband helped us bringing our big luggages over the front steps. We feel at home immediately. Thank you Jessica and Tony. We will return and recommend you guys to our friends and relatives.

  • This review is for our second stay from May 21-23. (Please read my other review for our first stay of May 7-13).
On the last night of our first stay, we discovered a leak over the kitchen counter. When we came back, Jessica explain what may have happened and completely fixed the kitchen ceiling in the basement. She has also installed a new window air conditioner in the main bedroom. Jessica communicates well and promptly. It's important when you travel to a new place and know that you can contact and communicate smoothly with your host.

  • Today returned from a wonderful week in NY. Tony and Jessica have a very clean, cosy, just renovated house. Photos are accurate.
Manhatten is only two subway stops away.
During preparation for our trip the quick responses from Tony and Jessica helped a lot.
I would highly recommend this house.

  • My family just stayed at the Dutch Kills Guest House last weekend. It was absolutely fabulous. Every correspondence with Jessica was excellent and timely. The house was exactly as in the photos but they don't do it justice. High, high ceilings, lots of room in each bedroom, very clean, lovely decor, it even smells great! The newly remodeled bathrooms and kitchen are lovely. It is such a deal! The neighborhood is residential but near warehouses. This place would be difficult for mobility impaired folks as it is on two floors, but for us it was perfect. We loved the comfy bedding, nice closet space, microwave, full size refrigerator, plates, cups and silverware provided as well as cooking utensils. Great kitchen table for gathering. It was so nice to spend a weekend in NY with our family! Jessica, Tony and family are very friendly and helpful. I appreciated their flexibility as we had to check in early after an early flight. We used both subways and taxis. Cab fare was about $20 from LGA and about the same into Manhattan but that was good for 4 of us so not too bad. Sometimes specific trains shut down on weekends, but that can't be predicted usually. One alternative: walk, cab or city bus to Roosevelt Island and take the tram across the river. Gorgeous! Or take the F train from RI. In LIC and Astoria, we ate at Centraal (tavern and restaurant) and thought it was quite good. We also really liked "Bareburger" too. That restaurant is too far away to just walk to easily though. I walked to church at St Rita's and felt very comfortable even for this country girl, still I'd always walk with someone or take a cab if it was dark out. This place met our needs exactly. It was wonderful staying in the Guest House and I hope to stay there again. Highly recommended!

100% recomendada.
