Great energy, great people, great vibe. Super quiet dead-end street with almost no cars, with the neighbors mainly long time families. From the Coffee Roastery to Iron Springs brewery, nightly live music venues (3!), and the outdoor patio at Sleeping Lady (live music nightly as well) there is plenty to do in town, which is only 7 minute walk away. Epic road and mountain cycling from the front door. If you want to take a short drive, there is hiking galore in the Mount Tamalpais watershed, or you can go to Stinson Beach (30min), Bolinas Beach (30 min, surfing), Tomales Bay Oysters (30min, oyster capital of the west coast! also great kayaking!), Sonoma/Napa wine tasting (1hr) and San Francisco is about a 30 minute drive if you want to get to the city for the day. The Larkspur Ferry will take you on a great ride to San Francisco if you want to take a 10 min drive and get some great site seeing in!
Walk to bus stop that will take you to San Francisco. Larkspur Ferry is 10 min drive then 30 min (beautiful) ferry ride. SFO airport is 50 min drive, and Oakland airport is about the same.
No pets and no smoking inside, please. Just be cool! =)
Nice gas range and very well stocked kitchen are a chef's dream. You might think about going out for dinner but change your mind and stay in.
Chris and Claire's house was the perfect place for our friends to gather and enjoy a great weekend together. The location was ideal for trips up to wine country, San Francisco, and the coast. We also loved the town of Fairfax. It was quaint, relaxing, and truly unique. You could easily walk to the local coffee shops and restaurants.
The house was set up well for relaxing, grilling out on the deck (with a fantastic view) and enjoying wine with friends in the evening. I'd recommend the house to anyone looking for a retreat away from San Francisco or a central spot close to wine country and the city.
This is a lovely house in a beautiful neighborhood. Chris was really helpful and communicative.
We have nothing but positive and glowing things to say about Chris and Claire as hosts. Their home was lovely, welcoming, and comfortable. We had six adults and 1 infant in our group, and the space was great for all of us. The view from their home was spectacular and the location was exactly what we wanted - a cute town plus within an hour drive (or less) of everything we wanted to see (Redwoods, Pacific Ocean, Sonoma, San Francisco).
Plus, the small touches that they left was really a bonus. The wine, the hot tub was warm, flowers around their home - so sweet! Plus, they were very easy to communicate with and gave great recommendations about local restaurants and hikes.
Chris' house was absolutely beautiful and the perfect location. It was exactly as described and the house manual he provided made the stay entirely stress-free. Chris was so responsive and easy to reach with questions. I couldn't have asked for a better experience in a more beautiful setting and would 100% recommend this location to anyone. Thank you Chris!!
Chris was very nice and helpful. The house was just what we had hoped: private, spacious, hot tub was fantastic and we loved eating breakfast and dinner on the patio. Really great location because it's a short walk to downtown Fairfax, which we did each day. Neighborhood is very safe and beautiful with really nice neighbors. One morning we watched deer eat in the yard for about 45 minutes. It was perfect.
My girlfriends & I (5 of us) were looking for a quiet but spacious getaway for a mini-reunion weekend and found the perfect place with Chris and Claire. Perched in the hills of beautiful Marin County, we felt like we were staying in a treehouse! Beautiful views, decks, and lots of room for cooking and lounging. The house was in perfect order when we arrived, with all amenities included and then some. Chris and Claire were very generous, welcoming, and provided all important info well in advance. The location is great, too, for day-trips anywhere in Marin as well as north to wine country or south to the city. It is also the perfect balance between feeling far away and being conveniently close to a town (so shopping etc). I highly recommend staying at their place!
We had a great time at Chris's place. House instructions were great, and Chris's availability was perfect. Fairfax is a trippy town, in many ways like going back to the 1960s and 70s. This was our first time doing AirBnB, we've never stayed in someone else's home that way before, and we decided it would take a little bit more getting used to for us personally to be fully comfortable. That's just a total personal comfort thing. For those who don't mind the slight sense of invading someone else's home that way, we say go for it, great host, great place, great time. Thanks Chris!

About the Host, Chris
I will try anything twice! Love to cycle, feed my friends and family, hike, kayak fish, backpack, and surf. I love to smoke meat (have a 50 pound smoker!) and one day wish to have my own BBQ diner. Our home is full of love and very cozy, and we hope you agree.
Eat, drink, and be merry!
