The Maasai here are the landlords, making it one of the last unspoiled areas of Africa. Connecting three national parks (Chyulu, Tsavo and Amboseli), the 280,000-acres reservation is home to a vast wildlife and birdlife population.
Discover the real Africa: the Maasai Mara (600 square miles) offers accommodation for about 5,000 guests (76 acres per guest). Our Group Ranch (about 400 square miles) has one lodge, with room for 16 guests (17,500 acres per guest). Here you will be in the real Africa, away from the minibuses and the noisy crowds.
Each tented cottage enjoys a different view, and accommodates one or two adults. An extra bed can be added for a child.
Four tented cottages feature twin beds, and the remaining two cottages and the suites both have a king-size bed, all with feather mattresses and specially made linens imported from Italy. Furniture was made at the camp with local logs. A table, two safari chairs, a colonial trunk, kilim rugs, shelves and hangers for your clothes, and daily fresh flowers complete the interior décor.
The suites feature king-size beds, a clothes room between the bedroom and the bathroom, and a sitting area next to the bed. Bathrooms have double sinks. Both suites enjoy an astonishing view of the lodge's waterhole and of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Both tented cottages and suites are constructed of stones, canvas, and wood, and they feature a full elegant bath with shower, bidet, basin, flush toilet and electric light. Brass plumbing fixtures add an unexpected touch of elegance and comfort, with hot (solar heated) and cold running water.
Each tented cottage has a wide veranda to let you enjoy superb views of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the Tsavo Hills, and the Chyulu Hills. Our state-of-the-art solar power system provides 220-volt electricity for your cottage at any time (plugs and sockets are 2 pins, Italian).
Campi ya Kanzi is a special retreat far removed from the hectic pace of the modern world. If necessary, however, you can reach your home or business with the camp's satellite phone. Cell phones - luckily! - do not work here.
With only six tented cottages and two suites, there is ample distance from one to the other to guarantee every guest's privacy. Each tented cottage has a dedicated Maasai attendant. At night, Maasai askari (night watchmen) patrol the camp.
