Phil and Marijns place is one of my favorites! I love the way the flat is laid out and the roof terrace is just incredible. Great location, great feel. I never got to meet the hosts in person but their communication was very clear and responded almost immediately. They were flexible, understanding and threw in a free bottle of bubbly! Highly recommended! u must stay here!
I have stayed in a few hotels/ private rentals in my time. And I have to say this is one of the best! Great hosts, and an amazing place to stay. Close to town and everything you need near by. I'm just upset I could not stay longer! Will be back very soon :) thanks again!!!!
"A Love Affair" circa 1939 ~ Irene Dunne & Charles Boyer
It's the real thing. The original ... to An Affair to Remember. We love originals they become our icons. A simple beacon of joy, hope, promise and sometimes just pure good times! Who could ask for more than that iconic scene where a couple choses the highest point in sight to meet because "it is the nearest thing to heaven!"
We, too, chose and found a large slice of the nearest thing to heaven! For what two dear friends of 40 years sought on the last leg of a restorative European journey, we accomplished in its entirety at Phillippe's and Marijn's nest. I will have to dissuade you first of the notion that you too, would be met ever so kindly or gently unless you are middle aged road worn warriors with overpacked luggage. Nor would you be offered the warm reception and acknowledgment of the celebratory kick-starter of bubbly as we were. This all was just an exceptional coincidence and not a genuine authentic reception formed over AirBnB chatter. Is this type of hospitality the usual fare.....? Pinch us...
Just like online dating? Surely, they are not to be believed and so we adjust going in and lower our expectations....
Ooooh! But when your experience so far exceeds your dreams ~ Big rewards are in store! Gloomy, rainy weather or sunshine, the digs are cool, the artwork divine! The bed dreamy! The rooftop views spectacularly breathtaking! Amsterdam heaven?! But of course! It is usual fare, not a la carte at all!
The hosts? .."any cool live jazz we can get to?" ...quick by email "within walking distance, Pizza Pizanni, see this website....!" We enjoyed Bimhuis on our last night! Get the feeling this is the neighborhood to be in? Everything you could possibly need within a block or two, a tram ride (literally, away and the stop just a couple of blocks away), two bicycles at the front door. We, Americans find a way to plug the three top consideration in most things - LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Fabulous environs and flavor... And did anyone need coffee? Curious. Adventuresome. Hooked! ..smile, your Nepresso has impressed me! ...Now, I tease!
I have a Love Affair in it's beginning stages! You, too will similarly become passionate seekers of the nearest thing to heaven's hospitality on earth. Weary traveler in search of a muse...FOUND! Thank you for exceeding our wildest expectations with AirBnB! Enjoy the coffee aromatics from your new American (The Motor City Mamas) pen pals and frequent fliers!
Phillippe & Marijn you rock! I will see you again real soon!

My girlfriend and I stayed in marijn's and phillipe's Appartement for three days.....because both of them had no time(think because of Work) to meet us when we arrived,we picked up the keys in a small Shop nearby.... Really very uncomplicated:-) the Appartement was very clean and also with everything you need inside.... Especially the welcome package (sparkling wine and some bread and chesse) Made us sure we will have a Great time :-) marijn gave us a call After our arrival to Check if everything was right and if we felt comfortable..... And yes, we did!serving us with recommendations for the Best Restaurants around they Made our trip nice and comfortable!....so i just can highly recommendate their flat, i am sure you will have a Great time staying there :-)
Dear Frank, Thank you so much for your great comments! We're very happy to hear that you had a great time in our apartment and that everything felt well arranged and comfortable, despite the fact we couldn't let you in ourselves this time. You were lovely guests, so if you want to come back to Amsterdam, you are more then welcome to stay in our apartment again! All the best to you & your girlfriend! Marijn & Phillippe
My bf and I spent 3days at Philippe&Marijin apartment.
We really had lovely time, the flat was perfectly clean and cosy in a really nice area not far from the center!
We didn't have the chance to meet in person the hosts but all the informations and communication have been very clear right from the start, they also left us in the fridge some groceries and a bottle of Cava.
I highly recommend it!
I booked Phillippe and Marijn's flat at the last minute for my father's 2-night stay in Amsterdam. Upon arrival, dad was greeted by a kind and energetic Phillippe who carried the luggage upstairs and gave my dad a thorough tour of the place. The hosts had also thoughtfully stocked the fridge with some essentials and a bottle of sparkling wine :).
The flat is cozy, very clean, quiet and tastefully furnished (the pictures are quite accurate). And the location is lovely; quiet but still central. It might be helpful to mention that, like most Amsterdam buildings, this one has lots of stairs... but honestly, I guess stairs are a part of the Amsterdam experience.
Thank you Phil and Marijn for being such lovely hosts!
Wonderful apartment, in a very calm zone! Very well comunicated.
The owners were very kind and put it everything easy.
