About This Listing
Convenient to I-81 is our relaxing, quiet townhouse with a bedroom upstairs for you. This tri-level end-unit will be perfect for one or two guests. Just 5 minutes drive away, you'll find RMH, JMU, groceries, restaurants, and a movie theater.
A beautiful and comfortable townhouse convenient to lots of sights in the Shenandoah Valley. This is an easy home base for visiting James Madison University, Shenandoah National Park, or the variety of local food and festivals nearby. Our gentle giant dog Porter will be happy to play with you, or happy to sleep privately, whichever you prefer. The bedroom is up 2 flights of stairs, so guests must be able to navigate those safely. In addition, this bedroom rental is not recommended for those with pet allergies. If this is your first airbnb stay, please verify your identity with airbnb before contacting us. It is a simple process that many hosts require and can be found at:
There is a very well-equipped shared kitchen which can be used, but cleaning up dishes will be up to the guest (dishwasher is available). Washer and dryer are available in the basement with free and clear soap and softener. Wireless internet is available in the house.
Interaction with Guests
Between work and school, we stay quite busy. We are likely to be in and out of the house. If we are travelling, you may end up having the house to yourselves! We are available for questions anytime, and we are happy to provide suggestions to you ahead of time if we will be unable to meet you.
The complex is quiet with a basketball court and large open green spaces. We are convenient to I-81, JMU, the hospital, and downtown, as well as the Coors and Merck manufacturing facilities near Elkton, VA. Only 30 minutes into the Shenandoah National Park, 20 minutes to Massanutten Resort, or 50 minutes to Charlottesville.
A car or bicycle is highly recommended. Harrisonburg does have a public bus system, but the closest bus stop is a bit far (1.7 mi, at RMH). We are very near Port Republic and Stone Spring, which are good roads for biking (bike lanes available). Excellent country biking is nearby in Keezletown or Dayton, and mountain biking trails at Hillandale Park are close.
Other Things to Note
The hosts interests include local biking, visiting nearby breweries and wineries, and cooking. In addition, we love our local parks and caverns. We are happy to give suggestions for anything you're looking for.
Well-behaved, well-socialized pets are allowed, but they must be kept on a leash when outside. Guests must clean up any kitchen items used during their stay. No smoking inside, but there is a back patio.
Bonnie is an exceptional host! She made us feel welcome right from the start thinking about pretty much anything in advance that you can think of (e.g. she let us park right in front of their garage - all the time. I did not ask but I bet she must have parked away from her own home to make this possible for us). The experience was by far superior than the standard hotel stay that you can have. Everything was very clean and their dog is lovely. We definitely would come back, if we had a chance. Good luck for your future endeavors, Bonnie!
Bonnie was very responsive and accommodating to my late arrival. Her husband met me when I got in. In short, this was the perfect R & R that I needed after a day of lobbying on the Hill. The place was super clean, the bed was super comfy, and their dog Porter was very gentle. I would stay here again.
We had a lovely one night stay at Bonnie's while road tripping up I-81. The room and bathroom were impeccably cleaned and all was as described. The bed was comfortable, showers were hot, and we appreciated the pellegrino left at the bedside. We didn't have a chance to meet Bonnie and Jeff, but they made communicating and letting ourselves in very easy.
Bonnie and Jeff were great hosts! They took me in on one day notice, gave me a warm welcome to the town, and made me feel at home and comfortable after a long drive. The room is exactly like the photos, clean, bright, and full of color. Porter (the dog) is also a friendly and fun companion to bring a smile :)
Would definitely recommend to anyone traveling through the area!
Clean, comfortable, and quiet. A much needed reprieve for a graduate student on the road. The accommodations were exactly as advertised. You can tell Bonnie and Jeff go above and beyond to fill this room with as many creature comforts as possible. Porter was so sweet and Jeff was a great host when I first arrived. A pair of gracious hosts to say the least!

About the Host, Bonnie
Young professional couple living in Harrisonburg, VA. Originally raised in Texas but loving Virginia. We enjoy cooking, biking, arts and crafts, music, and reading (especially sci fi). One dog which (unfortunately) usually stays home while we travel.
We love traveling and road trips, as well as exploring locally in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. My husband is currently working on his Doctor of Physical Therapy and I work as an engineer at a nearby manufacturing plant. That means we don't spend as much time at home as we would like, but instead book our vacation days with fun activities and travels.
