About This Listing
Wonderful, sunny studio in sweet Mt. Pleasant/Columbia Heights neighborhood. A few blocks to Metro (Green/Yellow) and yummy food/grocery/shopping. Right on 16th St Bus lines. Near Rock Creek Park. 15-minute (max) walk to U St and Adams Morgan. Straight shot to White House.
The apartment has wi-fi, paid laundry in the basement, and a "fitness room" in the building (nothing fancy--a few elliptical machines and treadmills). No TV (weirdly, I do have basic cable...it was cheaper to get my internet as a bundle. So I guess if you brought your own tv you'd have basic cable access ;)).
Interaction with Guests
I will be out of town during the times listed on the calendar, so (alas) won't really get to chat much. I do like to Facetime/(website hidden) beforehand to virtually "meet" and give folks a virtual tour :)
Public transportation couldn't be easier. 3 blocks to the Columbia Heights Metro (yellow/green) and a stone's throw from the many 16th Street buses. Also a few blocks from the 42/43 bus that goes to Adam's Morgan and Dupont Circle. (Although Adam's Morgan is such a quick walk that the bus is rarely needed).
Other Things to Note
A "verified ID" is a good thing! (this process is great, but definitely a little odd. Verified ID makes me rest a little easier) :)
I love my apartment and try to keep it in good shape. I would hope someone staying in it would do the same--common courtesy/leave-it-as-you-found-it sort of stuff. If you could strip the bed and take out the trash when you leave (a trash chute is located in the hallway) that would be great. Also, please keep the windows closed and the ac/heat off if you are not home. Thanks much. I love my apartment. I hope you will, too!
From Aug 20 - Sep 11, 2015 the minimum stay is 10 nights.
Amy was extremely kind and accommodating. The unit was as listed (and as shown on the FaceTime call that Amy conducted with me before my arrival)-- small but exquisitely decorated and maintained. The only discrepancy was the lack of a TV (shown in one of the AirBnb photos but not present in the actual unit when we were there). The bed was extraordinarily comfortable and the view outside was gorgeous. Location is perfect-- in a great neighborhood, 2 blocks from a Metro stop, and walking distance from Adams Morgan. The apartment complex is clean, spacious, and is well-employed. Would absolutely stay here again!
Amy's apartment was exactly what we were hoping for when visiting Washington. Close to interesting neighbourhoods (Columbia Heights, Adam's Morgan), the main attractions were nearby, and it was easily accessible by car. Amy made sure we were well taken care of and she knows and loves her city. Would recommend.
The place is beautiful and it is just as it looks in the pictures. It has the perfect space to accommodate two adults. The bed is super comfortable, and the linens and towels are nice. The apartment is perfect for a short visit to DC, given that it is at a 10 min subway ride from the main sites in the city. Amy was very kind, and she was always available to answer my questions.
This was our first time using airbnb and it was a great first experience! Amy's cozy apartment was exactly as described, it was light, quiet and was conveniently located. Amy left us little snacks, clean towels and linen, we felt very welcome. DC was great and we definitely recommend staying here if you're planning on visiting the city. Thanks Amy!
My stay was everything as advertised. The location is very convenient for getting to downtown DC. It's just a short walk to the Metro, or if you prefer not to walk, the bus stops just a few steps from the front door. You also have your choice of dozens of resturants, from the common plac, such as Ruby Tuesday, to your small mom and pop type ethnic gems, all easily within walking distance. Very secure and clean building. The host Amy went out of her way to make my stay feel like I was in my own place. She keeps a very clean and tidy home that you will enjoy should you stay here. I would certainly recommend this unit if you have the chance to snag it for your next trip to DC!.
Our stay at Amy's was wonderful! Her place is very well organized, clean, and well located. The wall to wall window gives you an incredible view of the city and a very pleasant sunrise; her kitchen is incredibly charming and has anything you might need; the book shelves invite you in; although small it's perfect, she organizes her place in the most functional way; the subway is a short walk away; there are tons of little restaurants options around, Target, Best Buy, etc; the bed is possibly the most comfy bed ever, seriously.
Incredible perks of staying there: You're one block away from U St, the neighborhood is charming, and never feel uneasy walking home from the subway even at night.
Although we did not have the pleasure of meeting Amy, her boyfriend Matt "checked us in" and was very helpful with any questions about the area. During the stay, we couldn't help but wish to stay longer. We truly loved this place.
Thank you, Amy!
We had a great stay in Amy's apartment at the end of March 2014! Great apartment that was comfortable and had everything we needed. Wifi was super fast, bed was comfortable, and the kitchen was perfect for cooking breakfast and other simple meals. The location was good - walking distance to both local shops and eats as well as chain stores. The metro is an easy 10 min walk and we ended up both walking and taking the metro everywhere. Adams Morgan was a 20 min walk for us and what a fun spot to shop and eat!
Amy was extremely responsive and even left us maps and information for the area. Her boyfriend met us to give us the keys and show us the apartment at 11:00pm, which we really appreciated. They both made us feel very comfortable.
Overall great experience with airBNB and especially with Amy and her apartment! We would definitely stay in Amy's apartment again if we go to DC
