Come and stay with friendly relaxed quiet internationals at Airlie Beach. There is always a mix making it cultural and always interesting.

The room is full size and has a Queen size bed, with a very comfortable new mattress. There are bed sides, lamps, ceiling fan and walk through robe. There is also a private ensuite shower and toilet.

For added convenience there is a private mini fridge for your food. The bedroom is key locked from the rest of the house.

This house is fully equipped. Kitchen has crockery and cutlery, microwave, pots and pans. There is gas and electric stove, rice cooker and a BBQ in the outdoor area. Complimentary tea, coffee (other stuff shared :)

There is a range of linen, pillows, blankets, towels, etc.

There is also a washing machine and a patio space outdoors with a table.

There is ADSL 2+ Fast, Dual hot spot WIFI internet for you to stay connected.

The house has a flat fenced yard with well tended lawn.

The house is adjacent to Shute Harbour Road. Regular bus services operate to Airlie Beach and both Coles and Woolworths shopping centres.

No visit to Airlie Beach is complete without some type of visit to the islands, coral and Whitehaven Beach. There is large number of tour products with a couple of special ones that we prefer. There is also a couple of hidden treasures that we can tell you about.

Downtown Airlie Beach is "a buzz" with a main street upgrade bringing people, eateries, bars, and much more back to town for a truly enjoyable small tourist town experience. There is also the waterfront, beach and the picturesque Airlie Beach lagoon pool adjacent to the Coral Sea on the foreshore.

There is so much to see and do and I personally invite you to make the most of it from my home.

  • We both had a great time staying at Johns Place.
Great place to relax over the long weekend.
Friendly Household, Both John & Puneet are great Hosts.

    April 2014
  • John's place is nice but the people are even better! John and his housemates, Puneet and Sarah, made me very welcome. John is always thinking for the guest, got great suggestions and goes out his way to help me get the best experience of the islands. Puneet is a great cook and Sarah is such a lovely lady who gave me her fresh caught crabs and even shelled them for me! I'll definitely come back and try diving next time! Thanks for giving me an enjoyable stay!

  • Room was nice and clean as well as the ensuite and what made my stay most enjoyable was the AIR CONDITIONER so I was able to get a good rest. The hosts were very friendly and the whole stay was very pleasant.

    April 2014
  • The room was okay in a perfect location and we have our own bathroom!
Unfortunately John was not here because he was in France, but Puneet his roomate is very friendly!

  • We spend three days at John's place. Since we were a bit unlucky with our camper van tour it was heaven to stay in an actual house! Thanks for letting us stay!

    March 2014
  • We had a great stay in John's house. Unfortunately we never met each other, but he always asked if we need something. We had our own bathroom and a room with air-condition. It was really nice and comfortable.

  • I had a wonderful time staying with John and his house mates. The house is large, and the ensuite room is clean and very comfortable and great value!!! It was such an amazing experience due to the friendly nature and welcome I received since my 4am arrival by train. We have cooked, dined, wined, entertained and couldn't stop laughing. John is very much about including people in activities, and despite the weather, we even took a trip to the water fall for a swim. He gave all the best advises and super accommodated to ensure I had a great time visiting. I highly recommend to stay with him while visiting Airlie Beach/ Whitsundays. Can't wait to be back and stay here again!

Thanks Yun. It has been great to have you stay with me at the 50 Banksia. I have learnt more about wine in the past few days then I ever knew!

  • John was a perhaps one of the friendliest and easy-going hosts I've had the pleasure of staying with. His house is a whirlwind of guests and activity, but the room he provided for me was quiet, private and clean, and that's all I needed.

John was friendly and extremely accommodating. He picked me up at the train station and took me to a car hire office. When I expressed an interest in the Australian Open, he went out and borrowed a TV so that I could watch it! Now, that's what I call first-class hosting.

There's no public transportation nearby, so you'll need a car. All the rest is pure fun at John's place.

    Response from John:

Thank you very much for the review Todd. I very much like to go out the way for guests. FYI, the bus stop is 3 minutes walk with 1/2 hourly buses into Airlie and back again. The ride is less than 10 minutes. Look forward to catching up with you in the future Todd and thanks again for staying!

  • John's place is a perfect pad to have if you want to tour the whitsunday islands and surroundings.
As i had rented a car, it was so easy to get around. Airlie beach and the marina were just 8 minutes away. There was plenty of parking everywhere.
Food & liquor stores are only a 5min drive.
John made me feel very welcome the moment i arrived, the house is shared with other people whom are also very easy going.
The bedroom had its own bathroom, which was a real treat! The bed had a brand new mattress which was super comfy!!
I had a very relaxing couple of days including some friendly entertainment by the host and his house mates.
    Would highly recommend this place.
    Thanks again for everything John!!

I have also traveled extensively with the other network and stayed in many homes across the world. This has given me a wonderful deep appreciation of diversity in the world and a passion for meeting people from everywhere. It has also made me a resourceful clean and resourceful traveler / guest. At home in Airlie Beach I have made a room available for people to stay with me via airbnb and have had some great experiences. I love to get close to the culture by meeting people, learning some language and trying the food ... and I look forward to meeting you!
