The Space

Come experience the charm of the Old South at The Farmhouse. This destination has been in the same family since 1956, and has undergone many additions and changes through the years, but has always been a place in which one will find peace and quiet, security, and now, a community of other fascinating and enthusiastic travelers…. Oh, and great coffee!

The Farmhouse is in older neighborhood of Memphis, on a residential, mid-city, semi-busy street. The property is within walking distance of a library, a bus stop, many varied restaurants, and a shopping center. It is about 8 miles from downtown Memphis.

You will find the accommodations at The Farmhouse will fit just about anyone's needs and budget.

The property includes:

THE FARMHOUSE COTTAGE- a separate building behind the main house, which provides complete privacy and includes a standard bed, full private bath, kitchenette, and wifi connection.

THE FARMHOUSE WEST TWIN with 2 single beds and shared bath.

THE FARMHOUSE SUN ROOM TWIN- a private room with two twin beds. Guests will share a bath and have access to the downstairs, and the upstairs, unless it is rented out as a whole.

THE FARMHOUSE BLUE ROOM is a sunny room on the west side of the second floor with a queen bed. It includes a deck in the treetops, full bath, full kitchen, washer/dryer, and wifi connection.

You will feel like you are in the country when you enjoy the back garden, the front porch or the upper deck. When I am able, I love to visit with guests, with coffee in the morning and/or a cocktail in the evening.

My house is located two blocks from a bus stop that goes straight to Downtown Memphis. Also, a library, a shopping center, a post office. and various restaurants are within walking distance.

Please leave the inside front door open, do not push it closed as it is tricky to open even if it is unlocked

Guest Access

All guests have access to the living areas of the main house,

Interaction with Guests

Interactions depend on the guest, and/or my schedule, but if I am around, a chat on the porch is always a possibility.

  • Patty is the quintessential host. Webster's definition of hospitality is 'Given to warm and generous reception of guests'. This is Patty. Everything from check-in to check-out filled us with a sense of true vacation. We actually got home rested!! Room was very nice, fabulous artwork and a home to be proud of. We will definitely be staying with Patty in the future.

  • We enjoyed our stay at the Farmhouse Blueroom. The room (and home) was very comfortable and just as described in the listing. We enjoyed the sitting out on the deck. Our stay was a short one, but we enjoyed Patty's hospitality.

  • I had a wonderful stay with Patty. Such a beautiful home, great living space and the secluded tree-top deck was truly wonderful.

Everything close by and a quick drive into downtown Memphis. Couldn't have been more perfect for me and Patty was on hand with advice, directions and suggestions of where to go.

  • We enjoyed our stay with Patty. She was fun to chat with in the morning & the room was great. We also appreciated her restaurant suggestions - we loved Central BBQ! We wouldn't hesitate to stay with Patty again if we were in Memphis.

  • Patty was a great host. The Farmhouse was as described and as we expected. The front porch is a nice cool place to sit and wind down after a long day of sightseeing.

We will stay with Patty next time we visit or just pass through Memphis.

  • Patty was a very gracious host and made me feel at home in her cozy house! She was very accommodating and made sure that I had every thing i needed before settling in for the night. I also met some fellow travelers who were staying with her and we had a fun night on the town. I would totally recommended staying with Patty in her lovely and reasonable priced home.

  • Staying with Patty was one of the highlights of my trip!
She has a fantastic house which was a home away from home in Memphis.
She has genuine Southern charm, and treated me and all of the guests like family.
It was fantastic sitting out on the porch, spending time talking about nearly everything!
My room was fantastic, and everything was neat and clean. I enjoyed the great breakfasts that Patty prepared, and the coffee machine was the best!
I will be back, and next time I will try booking the cottage.
Thanks 'Miss Patty' for a great stay.

  • We arrived in Memphis at Patty's home and it was very welcoming. It was like staying with a family member. Very relaxing with lots of artful touches both in the home and on the grounds. Whether you are 5 or 105 you would be welcomed in by Patty. We were in the Blueroom apt and the deck gave us the feeling of being in a treehouse. We enjoyed privacy, coffee, music, dinners and late nite cocktails on the treehouse deck. We definitely will be back next year!! Thanks again Patty !!

Hello!..I am a life-long Memphian, and mother of a wonderful daughter, and a fabulous son who grew up and left me with an empty nest.. : ( When I learned about Airbnb, I posted my accommodations immediately, and my life has been blooming ever since. PLEASE.... Always message me on the Airbnb site, rather than sending me an email. It's easier to keep up with what's going on when all the correspondence is in one place... thanks. PLEASE.... post a photo of yourself on your profile, rather than children, animals or yourself in costume. I believe it is in the best interest of all of us using Airbnb for our security. It's nice to be able to recognize my houseguests, as I assume they appreciate knowing what I look like.... Thanks As much as I would like to give discounts, I assure you that we are all on a similar budget, and this is how I make my living, a very conservative one, in fact. Please keep that in mind when you are looking for a deal... I believe my rates are very reasonable. In the same vein, my rates are based on the number of people, for the most part, and most rooms accommodate two people. I charge an extra $10 for a third person. I am not set up to provide fresh towels every day, so please bring your own extras, and, please don't wash my laundry. I try to keep the loads as minimal as possible. One more thing... Keep in mind, this is my home, not a hotel, and I work very hard to keep my spaces as comfortable and your stay as uneventful as I am physically and financially able, and my reviews reflect my past successes, which are numerous. However, this more 'casual' environment is not for everyone. What I love most about Airbnb is that all of us are on the same playing field, so to speak... We both get and give reviews.. There is no 'customer is always right' with Airbnb. When a guest makes what I believe are petty, or overly critical remarks, they are forgetting that I have a say as well, and consequently, I would not recommend that guest to a potential host. I am a very generous person, and have never given a negative review to any guest who is a part of the Airbnb community no matter what happened because they are a guest in my home....UNLESS, they unkindly criticize me or my home... I consider it an insult and would never welcome that guest into my home again...just sayin.
