Staying here is a true and honest tree house experience. Wind your way up three staircase levels meandering through the trunks to a spacious railed deck overlooking our surroundings of classic California countryside views. Enter the tree house to find a cozy space on two levels: twin bed/couch relaxing area downstairs and up a ladder to a comfy, nicely appointed and canopied queen bed in the loft. You'll have to be moderately agile with an adventurous spirit to get up there but it's worth it! One of the trunks juts right through the interior floor and the pitched roof and sways some in the wind. Three other trunks poke through the deck at various places. Windows on all sides, some of stained glass, and decks on three sides give you 360 degree views of vineyards, horse farms, rolling hills and forests. You can use the chemical potty in a separate toilet room in the tree house and/or the full rustic bathroom with shower in our barn not too far away. Find shelves full of reading matter, battery operated lighting and interesting touches throughout the space. Go back out on the deck, sit at a table, have a glass of wine and watch one of our lovely sunsets from 30 feet up in a tree! A great breakfast is served in a charming kitchen in the main house and we'd love to join you if so desired.
When not in the tree house explore our magical, very quiet and rural setting that's only 5 minutes from historic downtown Petaluma. It's also an easy drive to the incredibly beautiful Northern California Pacific coast and the Point Reyes National Seashore, San Francisco, Napa and Sonoma wine country areas or redwood forests if you prefer. Chileno Valley Road is a famous international bike riding route.
In the 1970's this property was Swallowtail Studios, a famous glass blowers cooperative. The Grateful Dead played in the big barn and hung out here...their manager lived just down the road. The barn is redwood, quite large and beautiful, with stained glass windows. It's suitable for events and is available for an extra fee.

Interaction with Guests
we very much like to get to know our guests, especially at breakfast!
1. you're up there high in the tree so we have to keep everything toned down...it's just for two adults max (no children, no pets) who want a quiet getaway.
2. no smoking, no flame of any kind...severe fire danger.
2. serious fire danger...no smoking of anything...no open flame of any kind.
3. we're really challenged for water here...short showers only please.
4. need to be careful on the stairs and on the ladder up to and down from the sleeping loft.
5. enjoy yourself!
Thanks to bill and his wife, the treehouse is perfect and the breakfast is delicious. Perfect idea for a gift. Also the area is really beautiful!
This treehouse is amazing! Upon arrival, Bill showed us around the tree house, the barn and even let us peak into the new room they're going to rent out soon, the "Taj mahal". Inside the tree house was beautifully designed and decorated. The Dutch door and upper bed cottage, made it very cozy. There were plenty of lights leading up to the treehouse and inside. We were a bit worried about it being cold but it was not a problem, the treehouse is insulated well and there are extra blankets. The next morning, Michelle prepared everyone breakfast with coffee, French toast with fruit and eggs. Everything was beautiful and DELICIOUS!
We had a great trip, Bill and Michelle were wonderful.
Me and my darling were greeted by Bill as we came out of our car and given a sweet and warm welcome and tour of the property. We felt very at ease in the space and it was a magical and fun place to be for us. While we would have preferred a bit of a later breakfast, Michelle made a delicious meal and it was great to meet the rest of the guests. I would highly recommend this space and would love to return at some point.
Wow, what a romantic adventure! We came up for our 5 year anniversary and this was exactly what I expected it to be- mind blowing magical. I can't thank Michelle and Bill enough. I love that they have created a space to collaborate their personal artistic talents and share them with other like minded people. It was truly inspiring. We really appreciated the personal touches like having breakfast (such good coffee!) and the little thoughtful things like a "phone charge station" (even though I turned mine off for two days!), books, wine glasses, board games etc. This is perfect getaway for writers, artists, musicians, adventures and romantics alike. We can't wait to come back and see the gypsy caravan!
We had a great experience! The rolling green hills here remind me of Ireland and it feels like you're in a special place far away. Plus, how often do you get the chance to stay in a tree house? It has glasses for wine & some plates you can put some cheese on that you bought in Petaluma. Michelle and Bill clearly communicated with us to schedule the visit & were very nice. We had a wonderful breakfast with them in the morning along with two other travelers on the property.
There's also this nice little table to sit at on the deck -- if you bring some wine & arrive early enough, it would be a nice little spot to hang out!
This house was so cool! So relaxing and cozy. We really enjoyed sitting on the tree deck, drinking wine and watching the sun set. Bill was very welcoming
What can we say... if you like treehouses, this is your dream vacation retreat! Gorgeous and creatively styled, it is totally cozy and warm (although you'll want to nest deep in the plush down comforters at night). Bill and Michelle are warm, sparkly people who've made an incredible place. We loved hearing the owls singing to each other, drinking wine on the deck, and deep deep sleep. Can we give 6 stars?
