Staying here is a true and honest tree house experience. Wind your way up three staircase levels meandering through the trunks to a spacious railed deck overlooking our surroundings of classic California countryside views. Enter the tree house to find a cozy space on two levels: twin bed/couch relaxing area downstairs and up a ladder to a comfy, nicely appointed and canopied queen bed in the loft. You'll have to be moderately agile with an adventurous spirit to get up there but it's worth it! One of the trunks juts right through the interior floor and the pitched roof and sways some in the wind. Three other trunks poke through the deck at various places. Windows on all sides, some of stained glass, and decks on three sides give you 360 degree views of vineyards, horse farms, rolling hills and forests. You can use the chemical potty in a separate toilet room in the tree house and/or the full rustic bathroom with shower in our barn not too far away. Find shelves full of reading matter, battery operated lighting and interesting touches throughout the space. Go back out on the deck, sit at a table, have a glass of wine and watch one of our lovely sunsets from 30 feet up in a tree! A great breakfast is served in a charming kitchen in the main house and we'd love to join you if so desired.
When not in the tree house explore our magical, very quiet and rural setting that's only 5 minutes from historic downtown Petaluma. It's also an easy drive to the incredibly beautiful Northern California Pacific coast and the Point Reyes National Seashore, San Francisco, Napa and Sonoma wine country areas or redwood forests if you prefer. Chileno Valley Road is a famous international bike riding route.
In the 1970's this property was Swallowtail Studios, a famous glass blowers cooperative. The Grateful Dead played in the big barn and hung out here...their manager lived just down the road. The barn is redwood, quite large and beautiful, with stained glass windows. It's suitable for events and is available for an extra fee.

Interaction with Guests
we very much like to get to know our guests, especially at breakfast!
1. you're up there high in the tree so we have to keep everything toned down...it's just for two adults max (no children, no pets) who want a quiet getaway.
2. no smoking, no flame of any kind...severe fire danger.
2. serious fire danger...no smoking of anything...no open flame of any kind.
3. we're really challenged for water here...short showers only please.
4. need to be careful on the stairs and on the ladder up to and down from the sleeping loft.
5. enjoy yourself!
Staying in Michelle and Bill's treehouse was a delight: the listing description is accurate, the space is clean and charming, and they are very welcoming and have everything needed to enjoy the space (books, cards, lamps, maps of the area, warm blankets, etc). Unfortunately, we had to leave before breakfast--but next time will have to stay! The treehouse itself is just magical, and it was the perfect place to get away from the city for a night. I will definitely return!
The tree house is an amazing place to visit. The scenery is breathtakingly gorgeous. We felt like we were living in a fairy tale. Michelle and Bill are wonderful hosts who greet the guests with the warmest welcome. The only down side of this place is that there is absolutely no cell phone reception. So connecting to the real world is kinda hard.
We loved our stay at the treehouse! Michelle and Bill were wonderful hosts — from a warm welcome, to great conversation, to a lovely home-cooked breakfast. The grounds were amazing (a barn, other awesome Air BnB spaces, and beautiful rolling hills and views) and the treehouse itself was spectacular. Very cozy, quaint, and magical. We had a lovely evening playing board games and living out a childhood dream. The treehouse is surprisingly warm at night upstairs in the full bed. Michelle and Bill provide many extra blankets and pillows to make you feel at home, as well as such adorable books and decor. Being under the stars, hearing the wind whisper, and listening to the soft sounds of owls was enough to transport us from our usual busy lives to a peaceful night to connect with nature. You will absolutely love your stay here as much as we did. It is one of a kind, and an experience we hope to have again.
the tree house is amazing! we stayed there for only 1 night while visiting the wine country, and it was wonderful! it looks exactly like the photos, has a lot of interior space and the bed was surprisingly comfy! just be aware that if it is a windy night the house going to swing and crack a bit.
it sits on a beautiful hill, with sunset views and farms all around. Bill and Michelle were extremely nice, served us a delicious breakfast and have a wonderful home, full of art. we will never forget this experience!
We visited the treehouse for a night and had a great time. The house can get chilly but the blanket is really warm and the mattress is super comfortable. Loved the small details like the swing and raspberries at breakfast. Very kind hosts with a keen attention to detail.
What an experience!
Nature surrounding us: Baby birds on the roof at day and two owls flirting in the branches at night.
Three house is tastefully created and the whole farm is artistically infused.
Bill and Michelle are incredibly hospitable.
