Staying here is a true and honest tree house experience. Wind your way up three staircase levels meandering through the trunks to a spacious railed deck overlooking our surroundings of classic California countryside views. Enter the tree house to find a cozy space on two levels: twin bed/couch relaxing area downstairs and up a ladder to a comfy, nicely appointed and canopied queen bed in the loft. You'll have to be moderately agile with an adventurous spirit to get up there but it's worth it! One of the trunks juts right through the interior floor and the pitched roof and sways some in the wind. Three other trunks poke through the deck at various places. Windows on all sides, some of stained glass, and decks on three sides give you 360 degree views of vineyards, horse farms, rolling hills and forests. You can use the chemical potty in a separate toilet room in the tree house and/or the full rustic bathroom with shower in our barn not too far away. Find shelves full of reading matter, battery operated lighting and interesting touches throughout the space. Go back out on the deck, sit at a table, have a glass of wine and watch one of our lovely sunsets from 30 feet up in a tree! A great breakfast is served in a charming kitchen in the main house and we'd love to join you if so desired.
When not in the tree house explore our magical, very quiet and rural setting that's only 5 minutes from historic downtown Petaluma. It's also an easy drive to the incredibly beautiful Northern California Pacific coast and the Point Reyes National Seashore, San Francisco, Napa and Sonoma wine country areas or redwood forests if you prefer. Chileno Valley Road is a famous international bike riding route.
In the 1970's this property was Swallowtail Studios, a famous glass blowers cooperative. The Grateful Dead played in the big barn and hung out here...their manager lived just down the road. The barn is redwood, quite large and beautiful, with stained glass windows. It's suitable for events and is available for an extra fee.

Interaction with Guests
we very much like to get to know our guests, especially at breakfast!
1. you're up there high in the tree so we have to keep everything toned down...it's just for two adults max (no children, no pets) who want a quiet getaway.
2. no smoking, no flame of any kind...severe fire danger.
2. serious fire danger...no smoking of anything...no open flame of any kind.
3. we're really challenged for water here...short showers only please.
4. need to be careful on the stairs and on the ladder up to and down from the sleeping loft.
5. enjoy yourself!
I love, LOVE this treehouse. The bed is so so cozy and comfortable, the area downstairs is utterly cozy and comfortable also. Had fun looking at all the nicknacks and cool things decorating the place. Beautiful views, and there's a get-away-from-it-all vibe with the no electricity and the walk to the barn for the bathroom. The two nights that my husband and I stayed there it was windy at night and I swear, it sounded like we were on a ship with the creaks that we heard. There wasn't too much creaking. It was very atmospheric :)
The shower in the barn is a good shower, and you share the bathroom space with the other treehouse, if there happens to be anyone there. You also meet any other guests at breakfast. Which is amazing. French toast is the best I've ever had! Theres a choice of different teas. The little deck around the treehouse is perfect. You're surrounded by nature and the tree and lovely views. Eating and relaxing up there is very fun. My hubby and I are definitely planning to get away here again.
Bill and Michelle were so kind, so hospitable, and so informative about activities around Petaluma. Their property has so much charm and good vibes.
Amazing tree house,Bill is nice guy, told us a lot place to go.just we try to keep the house clean, try to not use the portable toilet to think if like that they don't need to clean it,but in the morning we missing the breakfast like 10 mins,so we just got a cup of coffee,I suddenly understand here just a restaurant. I can remember the first time use Airbnb, at that house, you can feel their life, you can talk with them, have breakfast with them, now I think people not share the empty room just is find a way to making money.Any way still a good tree house.
We clearly told William, just as we tell everybody, that breakfast is at 8-9:30. Because we have plenty to do, when people are not there by 9:30 we quickly clean everything up, put everything away, and go on to our next tasks. William came in late and the kitchen was cleaned up and closed and we were on to all the other myriad activities it takes to support our 3 venues and the rest of our lives. Breakfast is our favorite part of doing airbnb where we get to sit and talk with people from all over the world every morning. As you can see by our reviews, it's very popular with all our guests. We are the farthest thing from "just a restaurant" but we do count on people coming during the hours scheduled. We're sorry they were late and we didn't get a chance to talk them.
Michelle and Bill were very accommodating and nice. The homemade breakfast in the morning was delicious, were we so surprised by the options! The treehouse was awesome! The bed was really comfortable and the toilet in the treehouse is great for the middle of the night. If you don't mind some spiders (you're in a tree) and walking to the shared toilet and shower than this is a fun way to spend the night.
This place was wonderful. It was even better in person. The treehouse was charming, cozy, and comfortable. It the house and the tree themselves aren't enough, the books, the little oddities sprinkled about, and the views from all windows will keep you busy. The neighborhood is very quiet, making for a very peaceful and surreal stay.
Bill and Michelle were amazing hosts. They have everything well planned out for the guests, and they have some great stories to tell. Michelle told me about some of her work as an artist over breakfast, which she prepared with ingredients from the garden.
The treehouse was even better than pictured -- it was charmingly appointed with everything you need, and set in Bill and Michelle's whimsical wonderland. Everything was super clean, well labeled, with great directions and communication from Bill and Michelle. Petaluma, with its great restaurants and cute shops was a five minute drive away, but this still felt like a perfect little escape. Bill and Michele were lovely to chat with and the famous french toast was delicious!
