Enjoy a bright and spacious air-conditioned second floor to yourself, with a 18 x 18' room with queen bed and private full bath. Located in close-in St. Matthews, a quiet tree-lined area 5 easy miles from the heart of the city, a 2-block walk to the bus stop serving downtown. There are several restaurants, coffee shops, and pubs less than a mile away.
Louisville offers many attractions--historic homes such as Locust Grove and Farmington; the Kentucky Derby, Louisville Slugger and Muhammad Ali Museums; the KY Center for the Arts, and the new YUM! arena. The Shelbyville Road shopping area, boutique-lined Frankfort Avenue, and the hip Bardstown Road and NULU districts are a short drive away.
Three hospitals are within 2 miles (Baptist East, Suburban, and the VA). The Presbyterian and Baptist seminaries are nearby.
The room has wi-fi and a TV with DVD player (local channels, but no cable). There is a coffee maker and tea kettle in the room. Guests may use my kitchen to prepare breakfast or warm up a pizza. If you don't mind going down to a 1946 (unfinished) basement, you may also use the washer-dryer. There's an iron and board in the bedroom closet.
There are lots of towels, a small hair dryer and "generic" shampoo in the bathroom.
No pets, please.

Harriette was great and the room was perfect. There was nothing that she did not provide or offer us. Her home is in a great location, which makes it easy to get around the city. I'm extremely pleased with my stay and look forward to booking with Harriette again.
We really enjoyed our stay with Hariette. The room was bright, spacious and very private. The neighborhood is close to a really nice section of Louisville with lots of cafes, restaurants, bars and local shopping, and it was easy to get to the downtown. Hariette herself is a delight, and we only wish we had had more time to chat with her. Highly recommended.
I truly enjoyed my stay in Louisville. It's a beautiful city with turn of the century architecture and tremendous charm. I stayed one night at Harriette's home, and the room was lovely! It was very large and decorated with simple antiques and a beautiful armoire. The bed was comfortable with 6 fluffy pillows and a pretty down comforter. The private bath was also very nice and exceptionally clean.
Harriette was a very gracious host and enjoyable to talk to. If I had arrived earlier that evening I am sure we would have continued our conversation! If I am ever back in Louisville I would definitely stay at Harriette's home again.
Harriette was an amazing host. This was a last minute stay in Louisville and I knew I wouldn't be able to arrive until late in the evening. I contacted Harriette and let her know of my situation, and she was more than accommodating.
I arrived around 130am, and she immediately got up, and greeted me when I got there. She gave me a tour of the house, and showed me exactly where I would be sleeping. She didn't skip a beat, and extremely friendly for the time of day that it was.
The house was very clean, and inviting. The room that I slept in was made up and very comfortable. It was a nice size room with a personal thermostat for individual comfort. It has a work desk, and lots of brochures in case you want to sightsee. I set up my iPad, using the Wifi, watched a movie, and went right to sleep.
In the morning, I used the bathroom, to wash up. She had coffee available in the room, or hot tea whichever you prefer.
After cleaning the room, I went downstairs to have a little coffee, and some toast. Harriette was downstairs, and she showed me exactly where everything was, had some English muffins available to eat, and some butter (or jelly, whichever you prefer).
We sat for a good hour or so and had a great conversation about family, and kids. I learned Harriette had several older kids, and beautiful grandchildren. As a French substitute teacher, she takes her job very seriously, and that she loves her job.
Upon leaving she made sure I had everything, and that I knew exactly where I was going, showing me a map of the area.
I would highly recommend staying with Harriette. Some hotels in the area would charge $100+ a night, and don't get half the comfort, or the cleanliness that you would get her at her house. It is in my opinion, that the amenities, friendliness, cleanliness, and above all the conversations, exceed a 5 star hotel. Anyone staying in the Louisville area, definitely contact Harriette and stay with her. It is unfortunate that I only could stay 1 night, but in the future I will stay with her.
Thanks you Harriette for the great stay
Our stay with Harriette was brief, but we felt very comfortable and enjoyed our time there. She made us feel welcome upon arriving and was very accommodating and kind. The room and bathroom were spacious, clean, and private. Harriette has included many nice features to make your stay even more pleasant, such as a coffee maker in the room and a filter for drinking water. The neighborhood is pretty and quiet and it's just a short drive from downtown Louisville.
We would highly recommend Harriette as a host and will definitely consider her for future visits to Louisville.
Harriette was a fantastic hostess and her second floor suite was a perfect place for a man to relax after a long day of road trip work. The bedroom was large, yet cozy, the bathroom was clean and bright and the location is perfectly situated down the street from the St. Matthews area which is full of local restaurants and a wonderful coffee shop. I'm planning another trip to Louisville at the moment and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else but Harriette's place.
Harriette was an absolute joy to stay with! The pictures don't do justice to her home, which was lovely, clean, and extremely spacious. The bed is an adjustable firmness, which Harriette was happy to help us adjust it to fit our needs. The bathroom had excellent hot water and pressure and fluffy towels. Her home is only a few minutes away from tons of interesting restaurants on Frankfort Ave, but is located in a very quiet neighborhood. We slept like bricks. Harriette was so gracious, giving us plenty of great advice on where to eat and go and maps to guide us through town. She made us feel so comfortable. I would recommend her to any one!
Harriette was a great host! The room was spacious and very comfortable. Harriette was very gracious and made sure we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend her!
Harriette is a wonderful hostess. She made us feel right at home immediately. We only stayed for a night and only had a short time to get to know Harriette, but she is a delightful lady and I would definitely recommend staying with her. The house is lovely and in an adorable neighborhood. Next time I come back to Louisville, I would love to stay again!
Harriette was an excellent host and provided the perfect accommodations for me while I attended a work conference. The room and house are very pretty, clean, and comfortable. She was always available before and during my stay to answer absolutely any questions. Plus, she is very fun and interesting to talk to. I wish I could have stayed longer to just chat and take a long walk in her beautiful neighborhood. I feel blessed to have met and stayed with her!!
