Salt Lake lodge was such a wonderful place to spend a refreshing week away. I spent my time there with my partner, my sister and her partner.
Thanks to Sonja's organisation we were greeted by a taxi driver at the airport and taken directly to town to do our shop for the week and then straight to our new home for the duration our stay. The first thing we noticed on arrival were the warm welcomes and the beautiful gardens. Then it's all about those stunning views! The river is gorgeous and full of life. Every time we took a trip to the water or had a look around there was something new to see and way too much to photograph in just one week!
The cabins themselves are so well maintained that we never wanted for a thing or needed to lift a finger (except maybe a little bug spray), Which was hard for us to grasp at first but we only needed to be told, well, five or so times to stop cleaning haha.
Vosa, who maintained the rooms is an absolute angel. I loved getting to know her and looked forward to her friendly smile every morning. She always laid out the loveliest of flower arrangements in our rooms daily which added that little extra dose of Fijian magic to the atmosphere.
Shavneil, the manager and on site host showed us the ropes and told us everything we needed to know about Savusavu. He took us on tours of the town, took care of our every need and made sure that we were never short on anything. He even made a trip into town to get us Kava and we spent the night sharing stories as we taught him a few of our Australian drinking games. He is a riot! So funny, helpful and friendly. We'll all miss him. Bella, his beautiful dog was like a guardian. She escorted us on almost all of our hikes and adventures, teaching us the ways of road safety haha. She is one smart girl, I'll miss her cuddles the most!
We took full advantage of all Salt Lake Lodge perks and booked cooked meals for four of our nights stays. They did not disappoint, the food was amazing! Shavneil cooked a mean Indian three course meal that knocked our socks off. I also highly recommend the traditional Fijian Lovo feast cooked by Lilly and Levaci. We saved this for our final nights stay and it was such a wonderful experience that you can't miss out on.
Lastly, a big thank you to Sonja for sharing your beautiful property with us. Thank you for your swift email replies and easy communication about extending our stay. For the entire experience and first class company, one thing is for certain, we will be back. Xx
