About this listing
One block to the beach, seven blocks to famous Abbott Kinney. Wood floors, large living room, equipped with washer and dryer. House is secure with locking gates on a charming walk street. The gated brick courtyard is private and serene with plenty of space. Guest bicycles always available for guests.
Experience classic summer beach living on one of Venice's famous walk streets. When you come through the gate and enter this shabby-chic, old-fashioned beach house, you will know that your holiday has begun for real. You will love the relaxed and casual atmosphere, suitable for singles, three couples or a family. Located a block from the sand - yes, you can see the ocean from the house! - you can hop on a beach bike and explore the famously colorful world of the Venice boardwalk, or grab your towel, walk to the sand and swim, surf, para-sail and more. And when you've had your fill of sun and sea, head to Main Street, where you will discover fine dining establishments and casual eateries to satisfy your every craving. Or whip up a meal in our big country kitchen, and lounge in front of the widescreen TV with Netflix.
There are 3 bedrooms upstairs with a Queen size bed in each room, and one of the bedrooms can also fit a twin size mattress. There are 2 bathrooms: one upstairs and one downstairs, large living/dining room, fully equipped kitchen, laundry room, cozy porch, and backyard with a fire pit.
We enjoyed our stay at this home. It's a great location, close to the beach! Nika was great and met us upon arrival. She gave us a tour of the house and left a welcome cake. We were able to use the neighbor's parking spot, which was great! The other couple with us did have to park on the street, but was able to find parking only a few blocks away. Our family really enjoyed the bikes that were available for our use. Nika responded to all of my questions quickly.
Overall very good experience and fun to stay in the neighborhood and get an authentic Venice Beach experience.
I stayed at Nika and Austin's house for my bachelorette weekend. Arriving was a bit challenging: there is limited parking (most of us had to park about 6 or 7 blocks away). Austin was really nice and helped us with our bags. House was as pictured and spacious.
But I must speak honestly... our stay was uncomfortable due to a plumbing issue. We were warned not to put anything but toilet paper down toilets and were all extremely careful about that! On our second day, we unfortunately woke up to an open sewage leak, which was running along the front patio of the house. Basically, getting in and out of the house was a nightmare. Not something I wish on anyone. It was stressful and really annoying. Just make sure this issue is cleared up before staying here.
Hosting Lori was an awful experience we don't wish upon any hosts. She lied to us from the very beginning, saying that they are renting the house to have some rest, do hiking and sightseeing. Instead it turned out she rented it to do a bachelorette party. And we strictly forbid having parties at the house! Judging from the piles of empty liquor bottles left after them, they didn't hike further than the nearest liquor store. The major problem they have caused us was clogging the toilet so bad that there was sewage leak in the front yard. In the years that we have been living in this house and hosting guests on airbnb, we had such a sewage problem only once, and it was because the guests put their women's hygiene products in the toilets, hence the sign in the bathroom reminding people to please abstain.Besides, they hid this problem from us and didn't report it in a timely manner, but waited till it was time to check out to tell us which seemed very disturbing. They kept using the contaminated yard, dragging bacteria into the house, causing us even more problems to sanitize the whole house. Also, they have used our pots, pans, plates and put them back into the cupboards filthy and dirty. It was such an upsetting experience when we opened our house to Lori and her friends and tried to make their stay comfortable and they have treated your property with complete disrespect.
Nika & Austin are great hosts. Their cozy and warm house was a great spot for me and my family. Perfectly located to the beach and main street, we really enjoyed our time in Venice and at this home. We look forward to hopefully staying here again :-)
A wonderful home and accommodating hosts. The house is in a great location, less than a 5 minute walk to the beach, lots of restaurants options near by. We walked to Santa Monica Pier (1.7 miles) and had brunch on the beach. We did not rent a car, but there are complimentary bikes to get around, and lots of uber/lyft around as well. The house is cozy, and the showers have good water pressure. The house is located on a busy street, and we could hear the car noise in the evenings, but didn't bother us since we are heavy sleepers. The front courtyard house is lovely with a small fire pit. Nika was extremely responsive and flexible. Would highly recommend!
Great place, as advertised. Best location if you like the beach and Venice. Main Street restaurants and bars are also around the corner. Spent the week of Christmas and had a blast. Fire pit outside was a treat for chilly evenings. Street parking only and no dish washer are 2 things to be aware of. Would recommend to any local hosting family (like me) or world traveller.
Nika and Austin's place was great - right by the beach and with plenty of amenities, including beach towels, cookware and a huge movie selection. And Nika and Austin themselves were great - friendly, helpful and very responsive. Would definitely recommend! The only thing to consider for light sleepers: as the other reviews mention, 2 of the 3 bedrooms are upstairs right above Pacific, so the traffic really doesn't die down until 11:30 at night or so.
nika and austin made us very welcome with great information and a welcoming bottle of champagne. The house was spacious with three god sized bedrooms for the six of us, a good lounge and dining area and a nice garden to sit in. The house was in a brilliant location to enjoy the delights of venice including the beach. It was also easy to access other parts of La like universal studios, la brea tar pits, getty centre and malibu. SO we had a great time. It was good being able to park one car by the house. The other car we had to park 3 or 4 blocks away the other side of main street. It was a bit nosiy at night being next to PAcific AVenue. All in all we had a greqt time. Thansks NIka and Austin. IAn
