The Space

A private room with a double bed in a nice apartment in the oldest part of Hafnarfjördur, the beautiful town in the lava. Shared access with me to the kitchen, living room and bathroom. Wireless internet and TV. The garden is very natural with the old lava and it is great to sit in the hot tub and enjoy it. There is only 10 minutes walk to the midtown of Hafnarfjördur where you can find nice restaurants and cafe´s, museums and bus station. There is also a very nice swimming pool in the neighborhood. Reykjavik is 20 minutes away with bus. The flybus stop is also about 15 minutes walk away and we are happy to pick you up there so you don't have to carry the luggage through town.
Hellisgerdi is the oldest park in Hafnarfjordur, a beautiful place only 3 minutes walk away. According to old tales it is the home of elves and fairys,

  • Sigridur was an excellent hostess. The room was better than we had expected.
The hot tub was amazing after a long and stressful day travelling, pure bliss. The kitchenette in the room has a great hob, but we'd bought a lasagne for that evening - but Sigridur was only too happy to cook it for us in her oven.
The location is quiet, with infinate parking, and is a couple of minutes walk to the town centre. The room was clean, secure, and well stocked with local leaflets / maps etc.

    Would definitely recommend!

  • Siggi was more than accommodating of our very late check in of 1:30 AM. Her son was there to meet us and show us around. The room was great, and it was nice to be able to take a shower after an almost full day of air travel. Siggi was gracious enough to let us use her kitchen and offered us breakfast and coffee in the morning. She was a wonderful introduction to Iceland. I enjoyed hearing about her family and her neighborhood. Wish we had had the time to use the hot tub, but had to head down the road after breakfast.

  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Sirry's home for our entire 4 day trip. Our stay in Iceland was better than we could have ever expected thanks to Sirry and her recommendations. We did not have much of a plan of how to spend the time we had in Iceland, and so she recommended a great restaurant to eat at, a great place to ride Icelandic horses, and an amazing day trip to the south east of the country that we ended up doing on our last day.

Sirry also cooked us a delicious dinner of Icelandic lamb, which we loved even though I usually really dislike the taste of lamb! She gave us our privacy yet was always available whenever we had any questions or requests.

A perfect holiday at a great location. I would recommend highly to anyone.

  • Sirry was a warm, accommodating and welcoming host: she very flexible about my late check-in and early check-out, and was so kind to drive me to and from the local hotel for the airport bus. She also offered sightseeing and restaurant recommendations, provided food at home for breakfast and a much-needed late meal one night, and was great company in her awesome hot tub!

  • It was simply wonderful at Sirry's place! We were picked up from the Viking hotel by her boyfriend Haukur and stayed for 5 nights. We were provided with everything we needed. If we didn't have something, she gladly lent us her own! She helped us with finding information on tours and also cooked us a delicious traditional meal! We loved the coffee, our comfy room, a hot-tub waiting outside and pretty much everything there. It is a lovely town - quiet and quaint - with easy access into Reykjavik. I would highly recommend Sirry as a host and would definitely consider it myself if I visit Iceland again.

  • What a fantastic start to a marvellous holiday. Our hostess Sirri was a delight and could not have been more welcoming. The house was so cosy, very traditional and filled with delightful interesting items. We were treated to an amazing home cooked lamb dinner, which was the best meal of our trip and wonderful evening spent with our hostess and another guest. We finished off the evening in the hot tub, enjoying our duty brandy which was a pleasure to share with our new friends.
Sirri entertained us all evening with her local stories of elves and her recommendations of places to visit.

  • The room worked out perfectly for us, and our hostess, Sirry, was very friendly and helpful. We decided to stop overnight for a 36 hour visit to Iceland on our way to a vacation in France. We rented a car at the airport and did the recommended circle tour in the countryside and a quick visit to Reykjavik. Sirry's location was perfect, close the Reykjavik but easier to get to and park... and less expensive too.. The city of Hafnarfjordur is also pleasant with several nice restaurants and shops and an interesting waterfront. The room itself had its own bathroom, mini-kitchen and door to the outside that made it very convenient.

  • We had a lovely time in Siri's apartment. It is warm, cosy and very relaxing. It rained the whole time we were there but it didn't matter as we had the hot tub to relax in after a days walking. Well I walked, my 13 year old refused to and just chilled in the apartment which suited us fine.
Hafnarfjordur is an interesting town with parks, lava fields, harbour and old Icelandic houses....and lots of tales of elves and hidden folk. And a branch of Glo, an organic cafe that sells yummy food.
Siri is very friendly and easy going, we had lovely chats in the kitchen and the hot tub and it was great to hear all about different aspects of Iceland. She made us a delicious skyr cake that was divine. She also made the most amazing roast lamb that I've ever tasted.
Siri and her boyfriend H (sorry I can't remember how to spell it) took us on a late night car ride to see the elusive Northern Lights but no luck as the sky was too overcast and they ended up driving all around the area and we saw the President's house, the beach and the lights of Reykjavik in the distance.
After 5 days in Reykjavik and 2 in the countryside it was great to end our trip with 3 days at Siri's. I felt I experienced a very special part of Iceland. Thank you Siri.
