This luxurious garden villa is truly a unique find! When I built this villa, I wanted to draw upon the woodcarving and painting expertise of my fellow village members, and so I decorated it with original Balinese art, hand-made furniture, and detailed architecture (in many cases I utilized reclaimed, recycled wood). The villa is surrounded by exquisite green garden walls, offering privacy yet a feeling of lush garden serenity.
The kitchen, dining and living room are combined into a single spacious area and are surrounded by sliding and folding glass doors that allow for open living or an enclosed air conditioned space. The kitchen is fully equipped with stove, oven, refrigerator, blender, coffee maker, toaster, etc….There is bar seating for four and the dining table seats six. The living room offers a couch, lounge and a flat screen cable television. There are also a number of places for lounging outside – on the deck, under the garden bale, or on the loungers next to the natural stone pool.
The large master bedroom offers a super king size bed, additional couch and table, tv with cable television, plentiful closet space and a luxury en suite bathroom. A second bedroom has two twin beds that can be combined into a king bed, a smaller desk area and couch seating (a small child can sleep on the couch in either bedroom). A second garden bathroom can be accessed via a door out the bedroom or through the folding glass doors surrounding the living room and kitchen area. Both bedrooms offer fan and air conditioner. We also have a safety deposit box.
The villa is located amongst rice paddies on a village road in a quiet setting, yet is only a few minutes drive from the cultural center of Ubud. You can also take your time and walk into town to really get a sense of the area and the daily life of the Balinese. The villa's position to the south of Ubud makes it easy to take day trips to the beaches in Sanur, Seminyak, or Kuta without any of the traffic of town. Each day the local priest’s wife places offerings in and around the property to bring a good spirit and great smells to the area. The local banjar (community meeting place) is just a short walk down the road, and one can sometimes hear the faint sounds of the village gamelan practicing as the sun (email hidden) is magical! Many of my family and friends are mask-makers, wood carvers, musicians and dancers, and I am happy to introduce those wishing to learn some of the Balinese arts.
The property shares a parking area and fully trained team staff with three other villas on site. The price includes daily maid service, linens and towels, wireless internet, cable television, and daily breakfast.
Airport transfer, driver to other attractions, massage, private yoga classes, traditional Balinese meals (made by the most renowned cook in the village, my mom!), laundry, rental cellphone, rental motorbike, and babysitting can be arranged for an additional fee.
Babycots/cribs and car seats also available for no charge.
Being Balinese myself, I am always open to speak with guests about Bali's rich culture and religion, and can offer tips about unique things to see and do. The Ubud area offers a number of great performances, the monkey forest, and exquisite temples, and I am happy to inform guests of authentic ceremonies and celebrations happening during their stay.
Low season price is $200 per night with a minumum stay of 2 nights.
High Season (December 15-January 15; July and August) is $250 per night with a minimum stay of 3 nights.
If you know you will stay for a week or more, I am open to negotiation :)

Other Things to Note
Airport transfers are available for an additional fee.
Guests staying in the villa are expected to treat the villa as if it were their own. Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by adults. Smoking is allowed, but only outside, and it is expected that cigarette butts will be disposed of properly. Since the villa is located in a small, quiet village, it is expected that guests will be respectful of their Balinese neighbors who have small children. Loud parties and excessive drinking are not advised (go into town to one of the many great bars! We can arrange for you to be picked up or dropped off). If a guest is being too loud, on-site security will politely ask that you quiet down and remind you of the promise made to be respectful when renting the villa. Any damage will be assessed and may potentially lead to a guest losing part or all of their security deposit. Upon check-in be prepared to show your passport so that we may register you as a guest. Cheers!
Oka and his staff were fantastic on our arrival and the villa is truly amazing! The interiors are beautiful and even better than the pictures! The villa is 5 min out of Ubud so the location is perfect for a quite getaway, anytime you need to go into ubud, Oka's staff are there to take you, Oka has great knowledge on the local area and suggested some of the best resturants / cafés and general things to do in Ubud we are looking forward to organising another trip back to Oka's villa soon. Tracey ,Matt and Charlie
My daughters and I loved staying at the Garden Villa. It is clean, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. Oka was the perfect host--very knowledgeable about Ubud and his staff is so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast that was made for us each morning. They helped us with communicating with the airlines for our lost luggage. Their extra services (at a reasonable cost) including a driver, laundry, picking up take away food for dinner made our trip so much easier and enjoyable. Whatever we needed, they were there to help. I would definitely go back and stay at the Garden Villa. Highly recommended.
Oka such an amazing host from the beginning of our enquiry till the end of our stay even now we are still talking on how great His team are. He already set a tremendous benchmark for a great host. We initially booked Unique Luxury Garden Villa, however due to last minute arrangement we opt to stay at Chandra for 3 nights.
Villa Chandra is spacious, airy, luxury linen, towels, amenities, comfy bed and its clean. We enjoyed breezy morning and evening moment at living or beside pool. Susan (The villa supervisor) arranged almost everything including great massage, ordering dinner & pick-up, laundry.
They will fix any problem immediately. The kitchen fully equipped and the utensils enough for a small party. What most outstanding is great warmth service from the entire Oka's team. Name it, and they will do everything to ensure great holiday.
We will definitely recommend Oka's villa.
Stayed at the Villa for five lovely days. Oka and all the staff at the villa were gracious, and we wanted for nothing. Great grounds, villa is beautiful and we enjoyed swimming every day. And great art on the walls. We ended up buying one of the artworks, which was wrapped up nicely for us to head home.
It was a really easy stay, the staff will get you take away food from Ubud if you don't want to go into town. With the traffic as it is these days its about a 20min drive in to town, its too far to walk. But there is always a driver available, mostly included in the price but only a few dollars if now.
Oka was great, friendly and happy to give you tips about the local area. Even drove us in for dinner one night at the Naughty Ribs joint on the other side of town.
We would happily go back on our next trip.
Thanks Oka and all the staff.
Oka was a phenomenal host. I felt like family from the beginning of my stay. His properties are absolutely amazing and unique in every way possible. Oka and his staff will make sure that you are beyond comfortable and relaxed by handling every detail of your stay in ubud. I had to be at class at 7 am every morning and the girls made sure that my breakfast was on the table at 6:30am. I rented 2 other properties in ubud from different owners, but neither compared to my stay at Oka's property.
My friends and I stayed in this villa owned by Oka and had an amazing experience. Oka himself was very generous - he took the time to show us around the property and Ubud itself and was more than happy to talk about Bali life and culture - most other places we stayed, the hosts were not that interactive. He introduced us to fellow ex-pats, giving us a much richer understanding of the culture and a few connections as well.
The staff was as sweet, friendly, attentive and helpful as can be.
The villa itself is gorgeous with a large master bedroom and a smaller second room and a beautiful common living/kitchen/dining area. The décor is amazing - not surprising considering Oka's artistic background. The facilities are modern and up-to-date.
I have no hesitation recommending this to others!

About the Host, Ida Bagus Oka
Hi! My name is Oka and I am a villa designer and artist from Bali, Indonesia. For many years I travelled around America and the Carribean working on cruise ships, but now I have settled back home in Bali with my wife Dayu and my son Gustu. As a young boy I was a woodcarver and pottery designer and have since combined my interests in art and hospitality to design unique villas around Bali. My family is also of the Brahman, priestly caste in Bali, and I grew up learning about all of the unique and intricate aspects of Balinese culture, religion, and art from my father. In addition to being passionate about creating unique villas and art, I am also passionate about sharing information about my home-- the island of the gods-- Bali. I was once hired to do a Canadian National Geographic-like program called Departure indonesia season 3- Ring of fire and Departure indonesia season 3- A home away. You can look me up in these films!
I can't wait to share with you! -Oka
